Thread: Simultaneous Buffing, Mission Payouts, and our Quick Fixes

I've verified that simultaneous dance/music buffing is indeed working on TC, both active and passively. Woohoo!

I've alsoverified that the entertainer missions in TC's latest patch pay between 1100 and 1300 credits. It's a quick and easy fix to get our payouts along the same lines as other starter-type missions (like Artisan survey missions). They don't scale, nor are affected by combat skill levels, and still share out... in short, the missions are the same, but now they pay something more reasonable. And I'm thrilled about it!

What I wanted in the first stages of this is not a means for entertainers to get rich, but a means for new entertainers to actually get a good start in the game, and something that established entertainers could pick up for a little more to get by on if needed. And that we now have.

What I see is a lot of good stuff happening right now that knocks out our little issues, paving the way for handling our bigger issues when we get a little undivided attention with a revamp. In other words, everythingis proceedingexactly as I have foreseen.... Except that it's proceeding more quickly than I expected, and that's yet another Good Thing (tm).

In my mind, I'm comparing what has been happening with fixes, communication and attention to our bugs and issues with the way it had been in the past. Looking at it that way is why I'm excited. I won't set myself up to only be happy when every last thing is fixed and revamped, but rather watch the trends of how the process is going. I'm seeing a lot of fixes in very short order, and that just kicks over the way it used to be. And I won't be surprised to see if we get even more attention in the near future.

The only problem that I see right now is that with all of our little fixes being knocked out at the top of the list, I may have to poll the community again very soon to see what else we might be able to get while the getting's good!

So... three cheers for everyone who has worked so hard to bring these changes to the table, championed them, and now seen them to fruition! Panthu, Tiaga, LeBob, NewJedi, myself, and many other Correspondents and Glowies have been working on bringing attention to these things. Great work, team!

I've already said it bunches elsewhere, but yeah, I'm really excited about the attention we're getting and really hopeful about what's to come. Deila and Sart are a killer pair and I can't wait to see what the new MC will bring!

I'm hoping we can attribute this to her and the others, and not to my terrible luck Mere days after I drop my skills on Til, we get some great attention....Maybe I should quit the game next

*whispers* Ask for a dramatic increase in dancer related loot drops so the prices drop to levels our new income can afford.

I have an idea that's been kicking around in my mindfor entertainer-related loot drops that I think would be even better than increased drops. It's a part of my next novelette in my proposal-type series, following in the footsteps of the latest idea for quest mechanics reform, as I called it. Stay tuned.

Deila, does it have anything to do with entertainer-sponsored missions (perhaps even something as interesting as bounties on players) pulled from random spawns in the cantina? Non-combat item rewards could replace credits from time to time. (Or so goes my proposal, the one that I've been plotting, talking to myself about, doodling in class, etc.)

When do we see this novelette thing-a-ma-jig? HURRY!

Oh, yes! Deila is famous for her novelette proposals! And they are always a great read, too!

I was just thinking this is the kind of thing that can be done without a lot of effort on the dev team's part. Just bump up the % chance that these are found to the same level as say the new loot pieces and the baazar will fill up with them in a hurry

Yep, that might be one way to approach it, but I'd think it all depends on how the loot tables are organized. For example, if SEAs drop at whatever rate, and then there's a random roll for what skill mods appear on that SEA based on all available mods (which is a pretty likely bet), then increasing the odds of just a few of those skill mod frequencies (such as Dancing Mind Enhancement)wouldn't necessarily be as small a thing as we might think.

Nevertheless, what I have in mind would also take some coding time, but handles things in a very different way. And one thatI think is much more beneficial to entertainer players.

Who knows if anyone in devdom is interested in adopting any of my proposal schemes, but that's not going to stop me from pitching. If we don't ask, we may not get, right?
