Thread: Dancer Self Mind Buffs
Please Please Please, let us mind buff our selves. Is there a reason we can't??
Purple'People'Eater : Master Dancer on Eclipse
Negative, just xp from the dancing (900k max xp on that), and any mind wounds & bf heal xp (900k max xp on that as well).

Apparently every time you start a buff, you get a small amount of healing exp...somewhere between 50 and 100 I think. The devs "fear" is that everyone will join a group, keep buffing themselves, and everyone in the group shares in that healing experience. And, it would make it too easy for people to get healing.
Which, of course, makes total sense considering how people just mow right through that healing...lol
Personally, considering how extremely difficult it is to get healing experience now, unlike at launch, this would kind of even things out. We should be allowed to self buff. That will be the issue that I fight about after the devs fix the buffbot situation. Which they will, or I will die trying.

Drygo where do you come up with this crap? LoL The Devs don't fear our ability to self mind buff, they told us months ago that they fully plan on giving us the ability to buff our own minds. The issue isn't whether or not to give it to us, it is and always has been a coding issue. The sad fact is they just haven't had to time to get around to redoing the code necessary to let us buff ourselves and probably won't get around to it until JTL is out and they've spent time fixing the other professions with more players first. The way they even setup listening and watching was very short sighted and will have to be changed in order to let us buff ourselves the way things work now. We're more likely to see a complete overhaul of the buffing system and how it works for every profession which will include the ability for us to buff ourselves then we are them to just fix the code to let us buff ourselves now. So its back to the waiting game again, something everyone should be use to by now.

Excuse me, but are you being sarcastic or condescending? Not sure I can tell.
The healing experience explanation I gave was an answer to one of TH's 19 questions. I'm at work right now, and can't go around looking for the link. Also, if you ask Tiaga, he is the one that was actually able to explain the mechanics of this to myself and others who didn't quite understand the explanation from the devs.
They haven't told ME, or anyone else here on these forums as far as I can tell, that mind buffing ourselves was in the works. In fact, the answer to the question was "NO." and the healing experience answer was given.
Don't be condescending towards me, it really pisses me off.
Musician
Will Musicians get the ability to buff their own Focus and Willpower? Also, can we get our buffs to last as long as Doctor buffs -- say, three hours? And would it be possible to improve the buff interface so that we can when we're buffing properly, how much time remains til the buff is done, and (most important) whether the buff actually worked?
Musicians will not get the ability to buff their own Focus and Willpower. As the system currently exists, if players could buff themselves, they would get experience points every time they buffed themselves and that is bad design. In the future, Keldarin wants to change the system and then it would be possible. As for extending buff durations? It is hard to say since much of this will be changing with the combat balance.
Whether or not a player is buffing properly or if it worked will be displayed in the buff icon window and the character sheet. If the icon appears and your stats change, then the buff worked. As for the displaying the buff duration information in the buff window, the answer is “not at this time”.All the UI programmers are working on JTL.

Eek! Sorry hon, I thought I linked you to that when you got back. ![]()
For the record, we also have a different answer (still no) from the Ent Panel at FF where Interaction was given as the reason to the "no" answer. However, I still am hopeful this will happen when our Buff Code is rewritten like you were originally told way back. (looks like some time after the HAM changes to me)

Thanks, Panthu.
Now, Ravenmist, I realize that you used to be the dancer Corre. It must have been during the time I took my "break." As such, I realize you probably have more insider information than the rest of us. But, this is the second time I've seen you speak to me in a condescending manner. I'd appreciate it if you would first, not assume that information that you know is known by the rest of us, and second, don't "flaunt" that knowledge that you do have in front of us, acting as if you are better than we are. And, last but not least do not ever use a phrase like "where do you get this crap?" towards me. I don't like you insinuating that I just go around spouting off nonsense that I came up with off the top of my head. Anyone around here knows that that is not the case, and I do my research (something that I'm apparently better at than you are) before I spew that "crap," as you call it, on the forums. I find your tone and words to be offensive. And, I'd appreciate it if you don't speak to me in that manner again.
Thanks.
I was the Dancer Correspondent for9 months, not sure how long your break was. As far as the information, it wasn't anything private, I posted on the boards more then once the reason why the Dev that is personally responsible for us, (at least at the time) didn't give us the ability to self mind buff. If you haddone your research you could of found that as well. I dont flaunt my information, I never have.If I said anything on these boards that wasn't public information already I wouldn't have any "insider" information anymore. While I was gone myself apparently someone gave you guys a different story as to why they didn't want you self buffing. I didn't have that information so apprently Neither of us did adaquate research before posting Drygo so your certainlly not any better then I am at this.
I dont know you very well, I admit. There is very few people I dont' get along with on these forums and I'm sorry if you felt like I was picking on you. I did assume you where spouting nonsense and I appologize for making that assumption without knowing you better. It happens too often on these boards and your information seemed like nonsense to me at the time. (would still like to know which story the Devs are going to stick too now, pretty messed up they are giving a different story now)
I dont make a habit of pissing people off, if I did I wouldn't of lasted as long as I did when I was the Correspondent. I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Hopefully we can both be mature enough to move past this and work with each other in the future.
For the record they did indeed tell us a while back that self mind buffing would be added for us when they could get around to fixing the code. Wasn't being condescending either btw, I guess we both just had information the other didn't. Ahh well.. live and learn I guess.
