I made a decision yesterday.
I no longer do dancer buffs. SOE has made the decision, by default or intentionally, that buffbots are what the game needs. So who am I to second guess the skygods? So no more buffs. I'll be a Dancer and entertainer and actually entertain people, which I have no problem doing.
But I'm not going to buff anyone, anymore, anywhere, for any reason...If the buffbots go away one day I might reconsider. Until then.. THEY are the SOE anointed buff method and I choose not to compete with something that SOE has blessed and actually rewards with badges, even if they Do have enough shame to Apologize for it. It still shows us quite dramatically the Mindset of SOE in regards to the Entertainment Profession.
I'm an Entertainer. Im not a Buffer.
If people want entertainment I'm available.
If they want buffs.... they can go to the SOE approved buff mechanisms.

Sorry, what I forgot to say.... Is that by deciding to NOT do buffs anymore... Its relieved me of all stress associated with the Profession. Now I can simply Dance and Entertain when I want to and not worry about trying to please anyone but myself.
Since I dont rely on Entertainment to make a living... I'M in control again. If people want to watch me and choose to be entertained great. If they dont that's just fine too. Now I Entertainer to please ME. Since I dont have a Function within the game structure Im totally free to gratify my OWN pleasure and not worry about providing a service that other's HAVe to have.
Its very liberating.

As for myself, I'm at the point where I'd almost prefer the buffs be taken away altogether. I didn't start out as a dancer to give buffs. I did it be cause it was a way for me to entertain my fellow players. I understand your reasoning, and I applaud your determination. I'll still give buffs, when asked, but I am not going to base my ingame finances or my fun factor on buffing.

Great, don't give buffs and dance if that's what you enjoy. I can respect that.
But, me, I'm going to trade a service that is in demand for credits. Then I'm going to use those credits to buy buffs from Doctors, I'm going to buy weapons from weoponsmiths, and food from chefs.
I'm going to help keep the economy going in the game.
It's a service that's in demand and I'm going to provide it.

Your service is in demand, yes. Is your service worth anything? Think again. Because when you are running your buffbot, what will you do if another buffbot parks itself next to yours and buffs for free?

Euclase,
Believe me, I understand why buffing is frustrating. My question is not why I should sell buffs. My question is why is /setperform or an /invite a sellable product. After all, it was never really our responsibility to buff. Patrons buff themselves by /watching us. The reason so many have trouble with these professions and get stressed out over buffing is that they are trying to take comand of a procedure that they have absolutely no control over whatsoever. Follow this link to a post of mine that I think you may relate to:

Well actually...
I make the service available for anyone that is a Rebel or a Nuetral.
I don't demand that someone pays me.
Anyone can get a buff for free, I just appreciate it when I do get a tip. I have to buy mind food, clothes, etc.
I also keep the spamming to a minimum, only saying the most critical messages. AFK grinders spam much much more and you can now filter out AFK chat.
So as far as I'm concerned, park next to me, offer services for free.

Look, can't you just go somewhere else? I mean, really, nobody here likes you, nobody here is going to agree with you. Just go back to rock from under which you crawled, and bot.

Wow, this is like haveing a discussion with a 12 year old. I'm asking you to convince me that buff bots are bad and the only argument you can come up with is "no body likes you".
So ok, I'll go back and buff bot. And I'll promote buff bots. And I'll help people make buff bots.
Sorry for trying to see your side of the story.

I'm at that point now. Its been nothing but a grief to the entertainer profession. Yes it was our chance to charge for our services but the way its getting abused is seriously not worth it. Let a doctor buff it or something, I don't even care. Take it away until you figure away to let it be a ATK service instead of a soulless macrotainer.

I hope someone didnt misunderstand and think that I meant I had been doing the buffbot thing. I've never done that and never will. And one person mentioned that the service is in demand and makes money.
Hon, I'm also a Master ID and I can make more doing 20 mins of stats than I can make in a day as a Danver doing buffs and trying to compete with buffbots. In short, I dont Dance for tips anymore. I dance for the enjoyment of entertaining. If someone tips me, hey thats great. I take it as a compliment and a statement that they enjoyed the entertainment. If there was a toggle to turn of BF healing... hey I'd probably do that too.
In essence, SOE has made it a Policy that Buffbots and AFk Dancing are the Chosen mechanism in SWG for handling BF healingand Buffs. Fine... If thats their Policy Im not gonna fight that any more.
But theres nothing Entertaining about a spam bot or a buffbot.
THAT is something that cant be successfulyl macroed.
SO... Im an Entertainer. I entertain people with conversation, laughter, jokes, and whatever a particular group of people seem to respond to. Let the Buffbots do the buffs. Let the AFKs do the BF healing in the Officially Approved SOE manner.
What they CAN'T take away from me is ENTERTAINING.... and THAT's what I do.
Lets see an AFK Dancer compete with THAT.
