You're not trying to see our side of the story. You're trying to convince us that buffbots are okay. Entertaining is not well paying to begin with, but when you set your buffbot up, it destroys any chance entertainers haveof making any money. How can you possibly see that as acceptable to us?

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

I'm telling you dancers, take away the authorizations to buff, and you place the game back into a realm where we can compete again with the boring bots. Keep the authorizations in play, and you'll just find more people praising the buffbots for giving away the authorization.

I will never agree with removing /setperform Poet.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

I'd rather buffs be removed from entertainers all together than to go back to that mess we had at launch.

hmmmmm.....

no. I still would rather find a way to stop the buffbots from buffing or remove buffs entirely.

I don't mind a weak passive slowoption, but I want more control when I'm Dancing not less.

That may have to come with effort on our part, resource investment, questing, an unlock code, a "dance game", or heavy self wounding... but it's worth it to me.

It also has very little to do with the Buff Bots in my mind... Buff Bots give it away so we all should? Why? What are we spending all of those skill points on then? Only one of the four Dancer lines actually gives us Dances and Flourishes.

Dont you see? It not UP to us whether buffbots are okay. Its up to SOE and THEY have blessed buffbots as the Accepted, Approved, Officially Anointed method of getting Dancer buffs.

What other possible conclusion can one reach when they are awarded badges, ignored while Squad leaders are suspended for spamming, where out requests and questions are overtly and clearly ignored???

So instead of focusing on the Negatives in our Profession stop trying to compete with something with which we CANNOT compete since THEY have the support of SOE and we DONT.....

THEY can buff. But they CAN'T ENTERTAIN.

You seem to be trying to find a negative message in what I'm saying instead of seeing it as the Positive that I see it as.

WE can Entertain. THEY cant!

And no we wont get tips for buffing. So what. EARN your tips as an Entertainer... Are you saying that we can ONLY make a living by giving buffs? If so then you're basically saying that we cant succeed as Entertainers. And I for one dispute that.

No I'm not making as much in tips Entertianingt as I do as an ID. But you know what? THOSe tips I'm earning by Entertaining mean a LOT more to me than one I might make Buffing. And Im getting better at it. Its been SO long since I've DONE any seriosu Entertaining that I've lost some of the skill I used to have and I'm having to rebuild it. But I WILL rebuild it..

And Ilook forward to the day that I make as much in tips Entertaining as I do as an ID. Its GONNA happen... How long its gonna take me I dont know.

See.. in a nutshell. HERE'S the problem. We've been competing with the wrong enemy.

Our enemies are not buffbots. Our enemies are US... We've been SO focused on Buffbots and AFk dancers that we've forgotten what we REALLY are..... Entertainers. Or as Pogo used to say... We have met the enemy and they are US.

Its time to Remember our roots.

Wrong. In the end it's up to us. WE are the paymasters. If we decide that buffbots are not okay, and if SOE claim they are, we withdraw our support and SOE loses revenue. SOE has no choice. The developerswill have to do something about the buffbot issue, otherwise they will lose entertainers as a player-character class.

So while SOE may have the control in the short term, in the end we have the ultimate power.

They're ALREADY losing Entertainers. They've BEEN losing Entertainers for 6 months. WE represent a VERY small minority of players in what is quite clearly a Combat focused game. If Every Dancer and Musician cancelled their accounts right now, this minute... Its would make a teeny tiny blip on the radar. And with JTL coming out we wouldnt even be noticed.. lol

That being said... We can do one of two things.

We can keep whining and bleating about buffbots and AFK entertainers. Or we can get off our lazy back sides and Reclaim our Profession. The Profession of Entertainer. NOT of buffers and healers.

Personally I prefer Entertaining to sounding like a shrewish fishwife. But you do what you want.

You can stand around in the cantina and get high blood pressure getting upset over SOE sanctioned buffbots if you like.

I'll be somewhere outside... Performing.

Or are you implying that you cant MAKE it as a Performer??? That you can only survive by doing buffs? Then get off YOUR lazy butt and go run some missions. Go survey. Go learn ID. Theres ALWAYS stats to do. Go buy and sell something. Go collect some hides and drop em in the bazaar.

The question is...... Is Entertaining what you really want to do?? If it IS.... then DO it and stop blaming someone else for our failure.

Dancer has 3 out of 4 lines that deal with healing and buffing... now why would we think we should be healers and buffers? hmm... no clue! *shrug*

Look, I love Dancing for the artsy reasons too. I'm dying for some real tools that will let me be a true Master of Dance Animations and In Game Performances. That's still a game mechanic though and not the type of Entertaining you are describing.

... and for the record, I am a kept Dancer on SS. I do nothing but act silly, Dance, cheer, and chat with my guildmates, but they still tip me insane amounts of money and pay for my in game expenses. I also have Cantina Patrons that tip me just for Dancing for them and RPing a Dancer with them in the Cantinas when they don't even need ent healing or buffing.

I also Buff for the public though. I also let people hire me for Healing and Buffing on hunts. If I was factioned, I'd be healing and buffing in bases, camps, and houses for raids. Nothing you can say will make me feel like that isn't part of the Dancer Concept too.

How about the fact that SOE has for all intents and purposes Endorsed buffbots? How about awarding badges to buffbots? How about Suspending SLs for spamming while ignoring buffbots and AFK? How about the resounding silence as regards the issue?

How is it that you can't SEE it... Or is it that you REFUSE to see it?

So .. what?? We continue whining and bleating about POOR us and how SOE is treating us SOOOO badly. Gee thats SO much fun. Makes us sounds nice and self-righteous.. Oh we POOR martyrs. We suffer so badly at the hands of cruel SOE.

If that floats your boat great. Some people really get off on suffering.. Self imposed or otherwise. But I REALLY hate the martyr role myself.

So I'M gonna be an Entertainer and leave the buffing to the buffbots as God and SOE intends.

As far as the skill tree.... Look through the skill trees. Theres a LOT of skills that are useless and obsolete. So what? What does that have to do withg the price of tea in China? And what does it have to do with being an Entertainer? What does Mastering Music or Architect have to do with being a Jedi??? LOL

We can complain about the world in which we live and beat our breasts and tear our hair and rip our clothing in mourning overhow unfair an cruel it is. OR we can take the world as it comes and make the best of it.

I choose the latter.
