But I never thought AFKing could be wrong.

Obviously this is your first online game. You will notice as you progress though various games, that unattended gameplay is always a violation of the TOS. SWG is a sad exception to this rule right now. What made you think it was ok is still beyond me, because either this is your first game, or you simply didn't draw the conclusion from unattended gameplay being a bannable offense in every other online game.

But I have a very good macro

You macro is repetetive and boring by nature. Without the proper tools, no programming feat will change this. And you won't get the proper tools anytime soon.

But I don't have time, because I work. Heck, I have a life and this is just a game

Guess what, so do we. Do you really think there's a huge bunch of school kids out there paying 15$ a month for a computer game ? If this is just a game to you, turn it off when you don't have time. Just a game, right ?

But I pay the same amount you do

No. I subscribed from Europe when the game came out, so I pay 17$. Bow, kneel and lick my boots. I am uber because I pay more. Wait, I'm not uber... maybe payment is not a good thing to measure.

But I have the same rights as you do

A persons freedom ends where it threatens another persons freedom. And for the record, while you as a player may have the same rights as other players, your macro has no rights at all. It's not even a party in the contract.

But it must be legal, it's an in-game tool

/tell is an ingame tool. Valid use is legal. Harrassing other players is illegal. Go figure. Just because something is possible in game doesn't automatically mean it's ok.

But the developers must have put it in for exactly this purpose

You are completely right. The developers never make mistakes and always have a perfect plan of good game design....
