Eaca, do we have to sign an NDA to get in on this?

I would love to help with testing.... I'll be in touch in -game when I've got a character name on Ahazi and I'll get some money and gear going there to help fund the trials.

In ways, the design of the C-aB could help us as Entertainers. If enough buffbots use this, then they will no longer be buffing for free and buffs will have a value again--true, the value will still be diluted, but it might just be possible for someone who is wholly an Entertainer to eke out a living.
Just a thought.

Argh. Slight snafu on the hunting trip last night. After various debuggings and such, we managed to get Combat-assist Robot to Coronet from Eisley, and buffed there bya doc (who, incidentally, I told that C-aR was a newbie, kinda shy, and so didn't talk much, though he did manage to get a "Thanks, doc" out through the lag
), and then into the Coronet cantina for his music buffs, courtesy of Rosaria, and dance buffs that I performed. I particularly enjoyed the irony... for the first time in known history the tables were turned. Live entertainers buffed a totally AFK macro combat character.
Unfortunately, moments after leaving the cantina to head out for our first real hunt while buffed, C-aR seems to have been hit with his auto-AFK tag, though it didn't display. I started getting the AFK response to tells, and it stopped responding to my commands. Since it was already commanded to follow me, I had to get it stuck on a wall to ditch it. Eaca, Combat-assist is just outside of the Coronet city walls, near the hotel.I'm sure he'd like a ride home, and probably a manual /afk to toggle him back over. Might slap him around a bit too, just for fun and good measure.
Still, here's some eyecandy...
First, it was off to Coronet Starport for some doc buffs....
Next, to the Cantina, where for the first time ever, a live entertainer (yours truly)buffs a bot!
Completing the entertainer buffs, Rosaria serenades C-aR on the mandoviol.

I have a silly idea...
You can accept an ID change by doing /ui action defaultButton. Maybe plug that into the macro. Have the admin person "command" the bot to group with the ID, then to accept the ID (If I understand the system correctly, it's not necessary that the ID be on "admin").
You'll get your bot back looking very bizarre

And I can assure you that I'd be standing right beside Roho on this, as well! If SOE wants to get rid of me and my patronage, banning you for this would be the way to do it!

Well I'm sure if I get banned for "harming others gameplay" for this than about every live ent across all the galaxies would be about in an uproar, if they want to ban an ent for making a combat bot that hurts combatants then they need to answer why they don't ban ent bots that hurt entertainers
I can almost guarantee that I'd be right behind you inthe Ban line. I would be all over complaining about this.

As long as you're not using macros to disrupt others' gameplay, and are not using any third-party programs, I don't see a problem with it, based on what the CSR's and EULA say about AFK in-game macroing. Of course, I could be dead wrong and SOE could make some distinction between this bot and other bots.

That's a key point above I'd like to remind other people who come in to test with this. This is not about disrupting anyone's gameplay. Rather, it's testing this mad science to see just what can be accomplished with the in game macro system.
If you wind up getting to play with C-aR, put it through it's paces, but the point is not... repeat not... to be a menace with it. Stick with this gameplan and I don't see why anyone would be banned for anything.

Back on a happy note C-aR is up and running on C-aB version 1.3 (alpha)
- PWN module installed an operational in 4 different time modes, 30, 60, 90, and 120 seconds
- it will automatically repeat a specified command once a second if instructed
- a seperate command may be sent to the bot for one time execution outside of the normal spam
- initialization procedure will verifty auto afk status is turned off
Did a bit of other backside tweaks on a few things prepping it for multi input mode addition

From your thread on the first CAbot in the flurry forum someone suggested adding "Die Meatbag" to your pwn macro... I think it should be added as well
As for helping out with the testing I would be more then happy to help with any part of it. Although the character I have there has done nothing at all so I might have trouble keeping it alive... and myself for that matter..

Sad but true, I don't know how to PM on the forums--yeah, I'm in no danger of writing complicated macros either.
But I do have connections, and thanks to friends leaving for WOW, my new character on Ahazi now has some credits and stuff to dedicate to the cause. Haana Sologroupis alive but untrained, though the owner of a house near tyrena, most of a set of armor, and a ton of credits.Delia and CA-R are admins so they can use it as a stashing place for gear for CA-R should they needstorage forits stuff. Haana can function as a bot or tester but maybe for testing the medical field cababilties of the Ca-R, more so than testing it in anything dangerous.
I am probably going to be busy over the turkey day holiday, so won't be able to check in much (I'm guessing), but I was able to help fund CA-R a little so who ever cares to test it can buy it a few basics.

Aparently sony doesn't mind at all. They just posted a how to of looping macros on the main page. Complete with a game command list. Sounds like a company that "doesn't like afk" alright. Maybe they'd do a friday feature on the Combat assist robot.
