I want you all to understand that if you Want me to ask..I will..but only if you want it. I strongly suggest, however, that we wait a few weeks before making any decisions.
This is why my true desire if for someone in the design/development group to tell us where they see us fitting in the world. If they actually have a plan and a vision that they're leading up to then I'll gladly support it. If they think that putting in the artisan buffs yet STILL allowing AFK general buffs was our "revamp" then I can hit /respec with a clear conscience knowing that they don't intend to ever support us again.
In the games current state, I support SP removal.*
I have had Master Dancer a total of five times and dropped itdue to being gimped in other arenas outside of dance|entertainment.
Being CL 55 or so is like being a pariah for PvE or PvP. So if you want to be purely social then a full SP requirement is fine. In addition I do not think the state the profession is in warrants a SP investment.
*An alternative would be to grant life and CL to crafting and entertaining social classes like they have done Doctor or Combat Medic. I could survive with just Master Carbineer, having elevated life and being CL 80. Honestly that is what I would like to see. This way I would be GTG for PvP, high end PvE and relaxing to be an entertainer. It would be nice to have those options. Yes I could have 4 accounts like some people and I'd rather have an adaptive flexible character.
Again, as things stand now, I'd say keep the XP requirement intact and remove the SP requirement to free folks up to do other things and to also perhaps draw new people into the social prof arena.
EDIT to add in something another said: Remove the SP and make the xpnot tradable for the village.

I fully support a skill point reduction.
I have been Master Dancer three times (I love being a dancer...and always come back to it) but would really like more points to suppliment my Bio engineering. I am CL17 and it makes it very very difficult to sample DNA.
I look at my role as a dancer as my character's recreation. It should not cost the same amount of points as an elite profession.
I am in favor of a partial reduction in the skill point expenditure of Dancer.
I am sort of mixed with this and keeping it how it is. If they do reduct the SP required, do it by not too much and do it for all Entertainer or non-Combat professions.

Well my opinion on this is kind of out of scope with this poll, but I will give it anyway. I don't think this game is ever going to include any significant "entertainer game" or entertainer content. The game is two years old now, and such content does not exist now and there's no indication that the devs have any intention of spending any significant effort on developing such a thing. Therefore I think that the issue of entertainer skill points versus combat skill points should be made moot by the creation of combat skill points and non combat skill points. Since the devs seem to want to focus efforts on improving/fixing the combat game and adding content geared almost exclusively to high level combat, why continue to force players to either go full combat, or full non combat and excluded from much of the game content? (Yes some go hybrid, but I'm not sure of many that feel as useful as if they were CL80.)
It seems to me that it's time to just split the skill pool and allow CL80's to pick up Dance, or Merchant or something. Conversely, entertainers could pick up a couple of combat skills and participate in hunts and quests and no longer feel so left out of the game if they wish. A lot of other games do this (eg. EQ2) since their main focus is combat as well, with other professions available as useful support professions that you may pick one or two of. That way you can spend your time doing whatever you like whether it's the combat profession or the support profession.
Anything else would seem to be about as productive as trying to decide the best sized mesh for the screen door on a submarine...
I agree. I want dancer to be neither a reduced cost nor a 0 cost profession... BUT... I want to be able to experience content that is currently denied to me. The best way to achieve this (in my opinion) is to split the skill point pool so I can have both combat and non-combat skills. I believe that seperate pools would be the best solution because it will give equal focus on both the combat and non-combat professions... thus people won't have any legitimate reason to claim that the profession has been "devalued."
However, if a seperate skill point pool is not feasable, then I think a reduced cost is the (second) best solution.

I would like to see it increased. Maybe then we could keep the FS grinders out, they do as much for us as the Hologrinders and BuffBots did - destroy our profession in the eyes of the community who only see us as AFK tools.
Cin, if you really want to see them gone there is only one solution. Take away the SPs, and then state that "because it is not worth SPs anymore", all buffing and all XP trade-ins are gone. The ONLY thing gaining skills and XP will do is gain you dances.
If they did that, 99% of the bots would vanish, because there would be no need for dancers anymore. We could still have our GES gigs (it's not like anyone goes there to get buffed, most of the time), parties in Kor Spera, whatever -- all the things we like to do as dancers -- and there would not be any reason for people to AFK. Or at worst, they AFK to master and then go do something else.
