Thread: At what point is it considered sexual harrassment?
Ike they realy saw your pet and said oh my im sorry whatever..oh harpoon YOU DA MAN you hit that point better than I could. And about the poster being a "the type of person.." read my post about the poster under auto tiping or something its under the dancer forum to haha HELP ME HE CALLED ME A BAD NAUGHTY WORD WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Wow. How pathetic...
I just wanted to say, yes this may be a roleplaying game, but when a person says you are making me uncomfortable and please stop, then it is time to stop. We all have to respect one another's way of playing. It does not matter who said what, who did this or that. What matters is this is a game and we all have our limitations. Some more than others. It all comes down to common courtesies.

Why isn't there an official "Mature Players" server?
*Boggle* Are you really this dense? You can't actually "attack another character, knock them unconscious, and then kill them" without their consent, either through the Imp/Reb PvP or through /duel. On the other hand, you can do all sorts of sleazy maneuvers through emotes, tells and/or regular /say without asking anyone else if they want to be subjected to your asinine crap.
What definition of "Mature" exactly, are you using? The one that says, "we're all adults here, so you should shut the f--- up and take my crap," or the one that involves maintaining control over your the more base, adolescent urges, and being aware of the feelings of other people? There's never an excuse for truly inconsiderate behavior, regardless of the fact that you're on opposite ends of two computers. So, when someone says, "please leave me alone, you're making me uncomfortable" or "making the game unpleasant for me" then the mature thing to do is to leave them alone.
If you can't understand this, then I mourn the sad, little world you live in.
You make a good point. The PvP system is voluntary. But I maintain that beingverbally discomfitted is too. It is voluntary in that you explicitly permit it if you don't explicitly /ignore it. Again, I'm not trying to defend base language and sexual suggestivenes, I am trying to defend people's right to do things that other people, for whatever reason, may find objectionable. This extends to arguments, differences of opinion, even petty-name calling (within reason). I am trying to dissuade am environment where people go running to report behaviour that they find even the slightest bit off-colour. Keep in mind that to some religious groups, even dancing is offensive (not that they would be using a computer, mind you, but the point is the same. Everyone finds something or other distasteful).
Remind me to try that "You're making me unconfortable, please stop" when some Teras Kasi artist is about to deathblow me.
Yes, I AM that dense.

Wait, isn't there a bored mood setting?
First, decide: Is it your PC or YOU that objects.
If its your PC, then its part of RP. RP it.
If its YOU, thats a totally different matter. In an Out Of Character method, tell the other PLAYER that you (the player) object to his behavior. If he continues? THAT is harassment.
But if you protest ICly, so what? Hell, I think if I were a smuggler, I think I'd object to being shot by the Imperials for smuggling spice, etc. But that isn't gonna stop said Stormtrooper from blowing me to the Maw.
Make DANG sure you make sure the other person understands its OOCly you're objecting. And if they continue, then they're scum.
But lets also remember out there, chummers.. People play jerk PCs. don't assume an ass ICly is an ass OOCly. Jsut some are.
i am female and coming from other mmporgs i know of this kind of behaviour towards women, although it never actually happened to me before. but then i never played a dancer before and could always keep every moron at distance.
But when i started this game as a dancer i knew this kind of thing could happen, so i deliberately chose a fat, male trandoshan as my char and nothing ever happened to me. i get the odd insult for being fat and/or gay but most find me cuddly.
I am not saying every woman should refrain from playing a sexy Twi´lek in order to avoid this kind of sexual harrassment, but this was my way of handling it.
Btw in UO this player would have gotten a permanent ban if the admins had logged the conversation. i am sure SoE will go the same path since this kind of thing is going to get big if nothing is done against it.
thank you all for your well placed words, I hope that I can help other dancers that have goten caught in this... er.. issue.
-cheers
