I have nothing against using this, per se. However, after reading over some of the replies here, I'm seeing a bit of danger in this practice.

First, when more and more people start using it, those holdouts are going to find they have no business. Second, and similarly, some people have started to take the attitude that if it takes less time, it should cost less money or be free. That kind of shocks me. I think that if it takes less time, the customer should be grateful and willing to pay extra for the reduced time. This would serve a couple of purposes. It would let those who want to perform their buffs still able to perform and make decent money as before. And, it would allow the speedbuffers to offer an optimal service and charge the customer appropriately. The customer can then decide what is more important to them...saving time, or saving money. The idea that a 30 second speedbuff is being handed out for free is extremely detrimental to our already less than lucrative profession. There are many people that are solely entertainers, musicians, and/or dancers. As dancers, we all know how hard it already is to make money. We get practically nothing in tips. I've long gotten over that fact. But, I always knew that, as a master dancer, I would finally have a source of decent income! By giving these speedbuffs away for free or at greatly reduced prices, a dancer is seriously undermining and doing a great disservice to the rest of us in this profession who NEED this income. Obviously, I am in no position to try to force someone to play the way I want to play. But, please, reconsider this and think about how much damage you are causing an alreadymuch maligned and poor profession. Things are expensive in SWG. And, as a dancer, I want to at least have SOME source of income that is reliable so that I can buy things as well. If this becomes a long term trend, I hesitate to see what happens to our profession and how many more people decide to drop it because the perceive it as worthless.

I totally agree with you on this one Drygo! From what I have seen customers are willing to pay more because it takes less time, a lot of them are now coming out of their way to see me because I can offer it to them quicker. Also, as Kandee said in her post you need a doctor to buff your action for this to work. Which means more expense for us.

I tried testing this macro today. Put it in my first slot, and clicked. I saw the toolbar button flashing quickly as it looped, but I never started dancing.

Am I supposed to see my char dancing while it loops for those 30 sec? Or is it just looping so fast that I'll appear to just stand there until I dump?

I am not a fan of this 30sec mind buff - I really don't think it was an intention of the developers for us to buff this way. However, I have used this buff myself - primarily to try it out and understand how it works. I have also used this buff in a pinch during PvP, and in those situations I consider it very useful. I have received mixed reactions upon recpetion of the buff - some are very excited and think its great, others aren't sure what to think, and seeing as the 30sec buff craze is starting to catch on to the wider combat community - there is an increasing attitude that peopledo not want your buff unless its in 30seconds. Having used it in a variety of situations myself, I still have to say I don't like it. For starters the spam is absolutely ridiculous and the avatar of your character flip flops as it continually stops and starts, and looks like it is doing anything butdancing. Furthermore, I beleive this 30sec mind buff is hugely detrimental to the profession - whilst some people are out there practicing it, it actually hurts those people who choose not to use it.I know many dancers who not only disagree with the 30sec macro speed buff, but have reluctantly chosen to adopt it simply because they feel they have no other choice, they are simply not getting any business. This just seems inherently wrong - the fact that people feel compelled to play and use an arguably blatant exploit in order to survive within the gaming environment. Personally, I would like a faster buff, indeed I think 3.5mins isquite reasonable, but Iresent that our profession is once again being driveninto buff bot status. Its bad enough with afk dancers being employed to occupy player cantinas as a healing bot. Its bad enoughto goPvP raiding only to find an afk dancer alt in the corner of a bunkersupplying free BF healing. Its bad enough that we have people in the public cantina afk buffing. And I think it is a great shame that the entertainment profession is heading towards once again encouraging the perception that entertainers are worthless unless they can provide their services in under a minute.

Can we un-sticky this since they "fixed" it and there is no more 30sec buff? Just thought we might not want to confuse any poor new Dancers

Well except when under the influence of sleep dep, it's fairly easy to tell private vs public stickies.. If the arrow by it is just an outline it's a publick sticky, if it's a button it's private. If it is both, it is listed twice, which really confused me the first time I saw it and the thread was shown 3 times consecutively, once for the public sticky, once for the private and once for a recent post.

If there is a sticky that you want to keep personally stickied, in case it goes away, the button will not be on the index, but you can still go into the thread and select "Float Thread" from "Thread Options".
