Thread: Cantina Crawl IX Debrief
Come, be yourself. Help put on a show if you like, grind with a partner if you like, sit in a corner and drink if you like. Roll the dice and gamble if you like. All it's really about is having fun, meeting new people, and doing it at the keyboard.

Maybe THIS is where the confusiton lies for me and others.
Is a Cantina Crawl a SHOW being RUN by someone?
Or is it a party/get-together for Entertainers?
Obviously I think of it as the latter. Draygo apparentlythinks of itas the former.. I've never been to a party or social events wherepeople were expected to.... in Draygo's words...'follow quite simple instructions.'
Maybe someone like Javier needs to expond on that a little so there is a common understanding of just what the Catina Crawls ARE becasue we are clearly using different definitions.
It's Drygo ![]()
But, yes, I agree with Javier, it's both. One big reason why I consider these things to be fun is because of the in sync dancing, which is why groups are divided up as they are. I only started going to the Cantina Crawls at #6 (I think). So, for me, they've always been about putting on a show. It wouldn't be nearly as fun if there weren't 10+ people doing the same flourishes at the same time. This is the type of thing I live for as an entertainer. Because, quite frankly, if all I wanted to do is "get together" and "chat" I can do that on /ent chat. I do not have to have my avatar physically there. I always thought the point of having the avatars together was to do something interesting--like sync dancing. Otherwise, I can go off and work on other skills, or dance in a Cantina and get healing experience that I need, but listen and participate in /ent chat. What advantage does having the avatars get together in the same room have if we're not doing the interesting things, and showing an audience the things we can do? Do you think the people who watched us at the Coronet Starport in Cantina Crawl 7 would have been nearly as awed by us if we weren't putting on a show but were merely dancing around doing our own thing like everybody does in the Cantinas these days? Nobody walks into a random cantina and says "Wow! Look, that guys doing popular, and that one over there is doing basic2, that's amazing!" Of course, they don't, the audience wants to see us strut our stuff and do something cool and interesting. I always thought the point of goingfrom Cantina to Cantina (ie, a crawl), was to have different people in different towns watch us. Otherwise, why not simply just findONE Cantina, wear whatever you want, dance whatever dance you want, and stay there? I'm not sure I see the point.

1) Me and shiseji decided to coordinate with factional armor. This demonstartes something called "creativitiy" and makes it much easier to really entertain people (such as randomly checking for spice users). Since, ya know, being entertainers and all, I felt that it would help me entertain... not trying to feed my ego by standing out (we have neon purple hotpant claid men to do that)
2) I read what you said as being rather curt. You told me not to join up with the line since we were being filmed, and, not feeling the need to **edit** as much as I usually do, I just left
3) I changed into the shirt/vest, kept the black skirt on for all of 5 minutes so that i could actually participate without being harrassed
4) Outfits have been provided any most of the CCs, yet I have never been asked/forced to wear one just to have fun. Not once. Never. Why did this need to be different?
In some ways this was one of the funnest (mostly since i had to make my own fun) yet most disappointing CCs (since I was forced to make my own fun like i do the other 6 days of the week).
Come to the crawl and do whatever you want, wear whatever you want. Crawls are about having a good time. Period. We provide pre-made outfits and get people into groups, not because we enjoy telling them what to do, but because most of them enjoy that. If you don't enjoy it, simply don't take an outfit, wear what you want and dance/jam wherever and however you wish.
Just don't step on the toes of the people who do enjoy looking coordinated, and don't get upset at them when they ask you to dance/jam somewhere else, because at that point you're ruining what they're trying to do. That is what I believe Mieux was trying to say.
It's a big cantina folks. There's plenty of room for everyone to have their own good time in their own way. At this point, this argument is tailspinning into semantics and arguing for the sake of arguing and it's becoming unhealthy.
