Thread: Dancing macro

I've messed around with them lately just to see how they work, & I don't think anyone has to worry about them being abused. Even with a long alias macro running & afk-enable turned off, the game still logs you off after a period of inactivity.

One problem I've had is that sometimes the macro gets an error reading that says something like "You cant Dance while running" even though I'm not moving at all. Maybe this is due to standing, sitiing, etc. between running the macros, not sure....but it is annoying.

This can be fixed by a pause of about 7 ticks. Maybe 6- 5 is too short tho as I recall. It is the "Run by Default" effect and can be defeated outside a macro by holding the shift key down while doing /startdance - this is what i recall anyway- shift puts you in walk mode.

I do it just like Nunc. Macros are for me to dance a seamless (or nearly seamless) choreogfy.

It depends on the dance I just perform. So for formal I think its essential, for popular 2 notmuchly needful.

Looping macros I would not like. I want do dance, not to watch medancing. As the same reason I never liked the bandflorishes in the beta (athough it looks nice). I felt like a marionette, and if someone started it I left the cantina.

This thread brings up a point.

Could someone post some of your roleplaying macros? I dont need yet another tutorial on how to afk macro.

I can do that, i just choose not to. But i have to admit, its nice to sit back and chat while my guy samples.

Post your favorite "skits" songs or whatever, maybe we can get a positive thing going.

if you want to repeat a macro, just enable user edit copy and user edit paste keys. then copy and paste it until you get the time worked out.

Macros are a handy tool, but they are not the answer to everthing. In my case I do my best to give attention to the audience with chit-chat and attention. For me it's hard to converse and flirt with the customers when I'm clicking my flourishes. So I have a few short dances with lots of flourishes that I can use to free up typing time.

I tip my hat to those great enterainers who go to where they are without macros. It takes a lot of coordinations to please the customers, swtich dances and flourishes while chatting them up a the same time. That takes a bit of energy to do

But for me, though I don't rely 100% on them (no entertainer should) they are a great time-saver and if you put a lot of effort into choreographing your macros they can actually be VERY handy and eye-cathcing.

Sometimes I test my dance macros on friends before I use them in the cantinas and ask for feedback.

It's really tough creating good, engaging dances when you are starting out because your moves are very limited. This is where interacting with the customer pays off

Just another voice chiming in:

I haven't used macros either...in fact, I USE my flourishes as an important part of my interaction with my customers...someone comes in, I'll /beam or /blowkiss or other action to turn to face them without breaking the dance, then start vogueing at them...

That being said, I'd be MOST interested in seeing one of your song macros, BigGuy...

I know there's already a hundred topics about macros on the forums, and I've tried them from the examples, but I can't get em to work. THey'll do the string of commands I set, but won't loop. Anyone out there willing to lend a hand?

i'd be glad to lend a hand...

the command you are looking for should be placed at the end of your macro.

*note* make sure you have your macro set to a slot on your toolbar

/ui action toolbarSlotXX

now the first spot on the toolbar that corrosponds to F1 is 00, so figure out which slot you have the macro in and substitute that number for the "XX" in the command.

/ui action toolbarSlot03 for example. also the macro will loop indefinately this way, so be sure to use the /dump command to well...dump the command.

have fun and please dont macro afk in the front of the cantina for extended periods of time...gets on my nerves!
