Thread: Help Save A Playstyle!!!

I'm not going to speak for everyone, but for me, I'd say "Who cares?". I didn't go into Dancing to be a buff dealer in any form. I've always been a healer type. Paladin (with more focus on healing than fighting) then Cleric in EQ1, Empathy Defender then FF Defender in City of Heroes, Cleric in EQ2, and now a Dancer in SWG. I like support roles. I wish Medics and the like were more needed out in the battle. If they were, I'd be a Medic, too, and I'd go out there and heal the people fighting krayts and the like. Buffs don't mean a thing to me. I'm a Dancer because I enjoy helping people.

<Sigh> I knew *someone* would give the "Who cares?" response.
Whether or notan individualpersonally cares to buff or not (and I know many of us hold strong opinions here), the point is that takingone of an elite profession's most powerful toolsand giving a much better version to basic profession dabblers without any new skills to compensate will have an impact on enjoyment, playability and game balance.
What if Novice Brawlers got TKM Spin Attack 3 at Unarmed 3 or Novice Medics could use "E" buffpacks? The whole idea behind limited skillpoints - that people will be "better" at things they have spent more skillpoints in, sacrificingproficiency in other areas - would be negated.
Anyways let's see....
Cross server lot trading will affect this.
corparations well be able to throughly under price single player merchants(and then once they have the market will raise prices)
And you only need to be able to place a vendor to get global listings
The Bazaar in it's current form is a global search to find the cheapest item of something that you can. And it can take forever with the screwed up way it displays to find things. Add in EVERY vendor and it gets really bad
I know everyone wanted a better bazaar, along with a good and well built search engine to help them find what they want, faster and cheaper. And the people that pay good money every month to play merchants have given out great suggestions on how to go about doing this. And I have seen MANY of them say this will hurt their gameplay or that it will in the end force them to quit. And yet many of us are trying to argue and tell them how it's really better for them.
The only thing that comes to mind when I see this is what if tomorrow the Devs split buffing and healing from Ents and gave it to NPCs that people could buy as perks and anyone could use once dropped. And of course like all NPCs each time a person comes into range they would start into their whole little speech about how to use them.
And then just left us costing the same with only Emotes that cost us action for dancing or playing music.
Sure there are some of us that would go with this change as we have been waiting so long for ANYTHING. But the majority of us would likely quit the professions or the game.
And then to have everyone come in and tell us how great it is for us.
This will honestly screw over my Ent merchant really well. As I have made up different levels of instruments along with funny descriptions as well as one of a kind named items for special things. I also spend hours and hours searching the bazaar and vendors to find cheaper then normal items to buy and just barely increase the price and re-sell.(so that Ents can afford the stuff). And who is going to spend 15k for a slither when they see 100cr for one. No one. No one is going to buy a swoop from me for 10k when they can see the 8k priced ones. And it certainly isn't worth my time then to spend all that time searching around finding those items and putting them all in one cheap place for Ents.
On the upside I no longer need to keep my merchant skills beyond what I need for the vendor. Then again why would I even have a vendor....

No, The only way for everything to be exactly the same is to use the exact same schematic.
My 110 medical rated R2 droids with 99% experimented HAM are exactly the same as any other Master Droid Engineer's R2 droids with a level 6 medical module made with 99x oq chemical. My 10 item storage MSE droids are exactly the same as any other Master Droid Engineer's MSE droids with a level 6 item storage module. My merchant barker droids are exactly the same as any other Master Droid Engineer's merchant barker droids. My entertainer effects droids are exactly the same as any other Master Droid Engineer's entertainer effects droids. My crafting station droids are exactly the same as any other Master Droid Engineer's crafting station droids.
To be honest, I haven't made droids in a long time and when I wrote this, I was thinking more along the lines of the varations of weapons, armor and BE Pets.
Instead of not trying to impliment a good idea and living with these problems, maybe tha answer is to allow the manfacture process come into play as well as quality of materials . Giving the small time crafter an edge to produce high quality custom items as opposed to mass produced items. So adress, customtailored, would have a higher quality than a factory run.
If you ever picked up a pair of jeans real cheap at a discount store because they were flawed, you've experienced what I'm getting at. A factory run of items have to meet a quality control minimum to be sold while a master crafter creatinging a high end item would be aiming for a quality end of a maximum.
What could be facilated by createing a range of very high quality resources that are to difficult to work with to be used in a factory. That the crafter could run missions to obtain the locations of these resources semi-unique to that player. Kinda like a treasure map. Instead of a box usually full if useless items, a short term spawn of a rare resource barly large enough to placed a single harvester on
Of course, the whole thing is pretty much moot anyway since the current search system is woefully inadequate. If I did register my vendors on the global bazaar there would be over five pages of the "Droid Deed" subcategory just from my vendors alone. Add to that all the other Droid Engineers. Want to find something among that lot? And don't even get me started on the "Factory Crate" subcategory. Over 19 pages on Test Center yesterday. Want to guess what that'll go up to on a server like Bria? Then there are the issues with bannings, vendor deletions and access fees. Global vendor search is a wonderful idea and something I'd love to see implemented. But not like this!

Ah, there in lays the problem. From most of the posts I've seen, it goes along the lines of "Search is bad" when in actuality "THIS Search is bad". It's an important point that I missed.
