I think your prob right, but can see the chef buff's being particulary popular.

It'll prob b the same as most new introductions by SoE ... initial probs (no indication of buff finishing, occassional mis-buffs) but they'll get 90% of it working eventually

Now do we see the problem with "active mechanics?"

If an armoursmith wants a buff, he'd rather tip the spammy musician playing Star Wars 1, then the amusing, cheerful, and wonderful dancer next to him. Because if he doesn't tip the spammy musician spamming "2000credits formaster musician buff (Bank tips only, I am AFK currently)," he won't get what he needs.

Let's say he bank tips the Armoursmith, and is waiting for the buff. You carry on with the armoursmith, who feels pressured to respond, only for the dancer to get /addignored, because you are worthless to him anyway.

When players are going to the cantina to "buy a buff," it doesn't matter what you do behind the keys. If its not in the form of an /inspire, and a menu click, you are a waste of bandwith.

Yes and the problem with passive mechanics is that they can be AFKed.

It's a catch-22. Or, well... it's a catch-22 unless they remove AFKing from the game.

On my alt, she is a Master Tailor and Architect with Dancing 0042. With the current changes, I can't even buff myself. It is not showing a buff icon when I stop dancing, was this ment to be this way?

Do we all have to watch each other to get anything. I hope I don't have to travel around to all the Cantina's looking for people to get my own buff.

I feel sorry for the person that took on any Entertainer tree's to be the buff person in a full group or guild , while out fighting, that person won't get any buffs, enless they watch someone else.

My First Impression of the new buffs and system was that it is great! Aside from the self duffing Issue, and the fact that Dancers/Musicians can not buff everyone.. I think they came up with a very good system.

We finally have 100% control over who we buff, without haveing to just /stopdance (I never thought that was a very good option to begin with)

I think under this new system they could even introduce some Combat Buffs, and I would be Ok with thay, Given that they can not be afked.

I think the fact the general combat buff is still passive is a slap in the face to ATK entertainers. If they really wanted to fight AFK buff-botting, all buffs would be active. But I doubt they want to deal with all the complaints from combat people about finding someone to buff them. We don't have 100% control over who we buff as long as the passive mechanic exists.

My number one biggest complaint is the lack of self buffing. I have a pure entertainer and an entertainer/Teras Kasi hybrid. My pure entertainer is not suffering. I don't mind the new buffing system at all. But my entertainer who picked up a combat class to hang out with friends, guildies, and to help out newbies is suffering. I can buff my party with my dancing. But if I want that general xp buff, I need to go somewhere else--sometimesto another planet--to find an entertainer or foregor the experience buff I can give my comrades.

You're right, it's like SOE wants us to pick narrow categories and either play social characters or combat characters, but not a combination of the two. In real life, I current;y take bellydance lessons and have taken karate in the past. I'm proud to have spent time--ie life "skill points"--doing both. I am not a combat character who picked up entertainer just to buff her guildies. I am a roleplaying entertainer who picked up combat skills to fight for and with her friends, and as a dancer to defend herself from wayward patrons. I will never progress past level 56 and I'm proud of that.

However, taking away self buffing makes me feel as though I'm being punished for my playstyle. Even though I'm a Dancer (not master in this, but a master ID--the majority of my points are still in entertainer) and can buff my friends, I can't use those skills. Why? Because it isn't "typical" for some one to feel inspired by engaging in an artisitc pursuit. Excuse me? Who here sings in real life? Who dances? Who writes? Who acts? Who paints? Who plays an instrument? Do you not get a rush or some kind of pleasure out of doing things things? Or do you only feel this when you watch someone else? I'm personally offended by this poor understanding of the arts.

I should have said we almost have 100% control..

Reading this line...

"At this point the inspiration buff is now ACTIVE. Crafter buffs can be used to craft and bonuses will be recieved"

I hopeing it mean that there will be no more passve buffs(after Pub 24) to overwright profession specific Buffs

There has been a thread on Chim forum about the waste of time in trying to find an active Ents for buffs. It started out as a bit of a flame, but generally settled down in to a reasonable discussion. The end result was me realising that people actually want these buffs. Although several posters intend to create their own Ent alts in order to have buffs on hand to resolve the issue of no ATK Ents around at unsocial times.

Yesterday I had more tips than I've had for a long time. People were saying that the buffs do make a difference to their crafting and were pleased to have something to counteract all those 12pter crafters. Some were people I had never met before, meaning that people were now making their way to the cantinas who hadn't bothered in the past.

Whether they had come for a performance, a chat or a buff, it didn't matter much, the fact that finally the cantinas were getting busier again did. Hopefully by getting to know me and my getting to know them, we can rebuild the community that has suffered so much through the CU, release of FOTM games and general lack of content once all quests have been done.

I can cope with the new buffs and am happy to do so. The single one and only thing I want back is self-buffing, the loss of this ability is hampering my play style and even ability to play at all when it comes to gaining xp unbuffed.
