Thread: Hutt Casino
The part I highlighted sums up my thoughts about this in a nutshell. Except that I'm not ready to give it up yet. I will never drop my entertainer skills and then go on to do something else in SWG. The day I don't want to be a musician anymore is the day I'll quit this game. I am however not ready to quit this game yet, for all the problems there is too much keeping me here. So much for that.

I would not get too upset about this... As Panthu and Xyrdre have said, we have the non-combat profession revamp on the horizon!
I honestly think a revamp will be much better than the HC........ though I still hope the HC comes some time after our revamp...
At one point in time we had the Hutt casino on the horizon. It turned out to be a painted backdrop that was simply carried away to be replaced with "phat loot" I guess. Unless I'm missing something fundamental here, the casino wouldn't have required any where near as much effort as a complete revamp (and I'll freely admit that I don't know step one for programming and thus could be completely wrong). So they didn't have the resources to devote to the Hutt Casino? Why should I feel hopeful that they will have the resources to devote to the revamp? I'm not attempting to say that all of our correspondents and the development staffdon't do an amazing job. They have no control, unfortunately, over our gaming experience. I am however saying that for me this experiment has failed. I thought I could wait it out but I just do not have the energy or the hope that what I wanted from this profession was going to be possible. The dancer profession as I had envisioned it is dead. Rather than continue to try to put on a happy face and keep waiting for things to get better I'm going to just cut my losses. I wish all of you the best. It'a a thankless job and my hat is off to you for continuing. I'll be sure to tip you when I stop by the cantinas.
cheers,

There is not much I can say to this except that I personally have faith that our revamp will do great things for us.
The "painted backdrop" (great way to put it, I wish I had thought of this myself
Sorry, I never was thetype to just put blind trust in people who disappointed me once, and SOE's treatment of the entertainer professions has made me even more cynical than I would usually have been. They lied and they failed us, and now any of their promises don't mean squat to me. I won't give them the benefit of the doubt, I won't put faith in them, the only thing I will judge them by are results now. Nothing more. And so far we have not seen any results. Sure, there were bug-fixes and tweaks lately, but let's be honest: how many of them benefitted only US, and how many were really for the benefit of the combat players? Shorter buff and heal times are a great example. If you think they put this in as a gift to the entertainers, you're deluding yourselves.
And let's not forget one thing folks: this may be just me playing devil's advocate, and possibly - no, probably - our correspondents (who, it should be said, are doing a fantastic job. Hats off to them!) are privy to information we don't have, but as far as I am concerned, SOE has not promised us a revamp yet. They promised to revamp the non-combat professions, but did not state outright that we would be included in this revamp. For all we know, "non-combat" to them means crafting, with us just being the left-overs that fit in nowhere. Past experience with the Dev team would certainly support this point of view.
That's about it... let me close this by saying that I respect (and envy) anyone who sees this as a time of hope for us, but I just don't have it in me to feel that way. Sorry for being so cynical folks.

The more pessimistic the prognosis, the better is the chance of it being accurate, isn't it?

Last I heard they've no plans to get it done any time soon.
When in doubt, if it has to do with Smugglers, figure it'll never come about.

I would like to see the cantinas become what they should be, a place to take off your armor, wear some nice clothes, hang out with friends, talk to a pretty girl, or a cute guy, listen to a great band, watch talented dancers perform. Cantinas at this point are a quasi hospital...yuck.
That being said, I guess that means I would be fine if we lost bf healing and mind buffing. At least if that happened, we wouldn't get people asking us to buff them when we are trying to do a performance. That's just my 2 credits
