Well on the bright side, you will be able to get cybernetic replacements now!

I guess the big announcement is that the new expansion will provide absolutely nothing for Entertainers.

Me thinks that the announcement about an impending announcement was announced without getting prior announcement approval - and they are just hoping we'll all simply forget about it . . . .

While it would be nice if they would at least come back and give us a post to reassure us that they apologize for the delay, but that they've not forgotten about us, I think that they haven't and are still working out the details of our revamp, so I hope we can hold out for a little bit longer. Think about this: a year ago there was no entertainer update in sight and AFK was here to stay. Today the devs are actively planning, if not working on, changes to our profession, and the days of game supported looping macros are numbered. I think there is a new motivation with the devs to "get it right" rather than simply "get it out" so maybe we can be a little more forgiving if things take longer than perhaps originally promised. I get the impression they're working really hard behind the scenes even if we don't necessarily get to see that. Hopefully soon we will find out what's in store for us and then get to experience the changes not too long afterward. I'm extending a little more faith to the devs, but I think we really might get word on these changes in a matter of days, and not months, and I am hoping we will get to see the fruits of these changes in months and not years or indefinitely. As long as we've been waiting for change in our profession, I think we can give them that, else we would have left already.

For the last year or so (jeebus, a whole year!), I've been on this roller coaster ride of emotions from playing a dancer. The only problem is, the peaks aren't very high, but the valleys are pretty damn low.

Generally, if one were to track my posting activity on these forums, it might seem as if the majority of my posts are in some way negative. And, with all the anti-buffbot posting I've done, that's probably true. heh. But, one would also notice that there are times where my posting activity is really low, and sometimes it's really high. I'm still working 50-60 hours a week, but here I am, during one of my high posting phases.

And, every time that I'm in a high posting phase it generally means that I am somehow disgruntled, angry or depressed, or some combination of the three. When I'm not posting, I'm usually...neutral...not happy, but neutral. And, the reason I'm usually neutral is not because dancing has somehow gotten better. It's because I'm more than likely focussing on different aspects of my character, like RP, combat, the village, space, etc. And, I'm enjoying all of these things. But, I'm still not happy with dancer. I've just chosen at the time to ignore all the issues. And, the other stuff I'm doing is providing enough enjoyment for me so that it momentarily outweighs the negatives of dancing. But, the unfortunate thing is, despite the problems of being a dancer, at the core, dancing is what I've always liked doing the most. That's probably why, even when I'm focussing on the stuff that is providing enjoyment for me, I rarely have those peaks in the roller coaster ride. Because, what I'd like to be doing is enjoying dancing.

Out of all the things that I do in this game, I post the most...probably more than any other forum on the dance, entertainer or musician forums. And, that's because I'm happy with the rest of the game, so I don't feel the need to voice my complaints in those areas. It's true, I think, that most people post when they are not happy, and the devs rarely get to hear when people are happy. I'm certainly not saying this because I feel sorry for them at this point in time. (After all, I'm posting, so I ain't happy with them.)

Of course, I always end up giving this long winded and unnecessary explanation for my behavior. But, what I'm trying to say here, is that I'm not happy again. And, I can feel it in the game and on the boards again, among entertainers of all varieties. The anger and the animosity is building up again. What precipitates this, I do not know. Maybe it's the lack of an announcement for some people. For me, it's not just the lack of an announcement, but it's a combination of that and a sense that it's yet again getting worse for dancers and other entertainers. The amount of buffbots is reaching a new spike on my server. The posts on the forums isn't really giving us any really good news. The Theed Cantina, which was once a haven for live players on my server, is now being taken over by afk again, to the point where there are afk bot leaders who group everybody, who in turn go afk, so that there is literally nobody behind the keyboard in a Cantina of 20. Non entertainers are posting their love for buffbots, entertainers in game are being made to feel lower than dirt again. Whatever. You get my point.

So, what I'm trying to say here again is, it's gotten to the point where the valley is really low again, and we need developer reassurance that things are going to be okay.

(emphasis added to "developer" reassurance) This sums it up for me completely. It's not the delay in seeing changes, I can be amazingly patient. It's not having the slightest clue if those changes are going to be something I will enjoy. I simply want to know if I'm wasting my time holding out any semblence of hope that my vision of a dancer is possible. If it's not then just tell me now and I'll explore some other profession and see if it can offer me a fun adventure. Don't keep me hanging on only to laughingly step on my fingers to send me falling into a bottomless pit of anger. I want to be a dancer. But I have a vision of what that means. Maybe it doesn't mesh with what the developers are thinking. If that's the case then I need to know. It's one thing for the correspondents to come here and say "we're working with them on some exciting changes" but if those exciting changes are going to turn this profession into something I have no interest in doing then why continue to torture me? Just tell us the grand vision. I don't need to hear that X change will be pushed live on Y date. I just need to know what the devs think the dancer is going to be doing at some point in the future. If the answer is "we don't have a frelling clue". Then say that. But the promise of change is not reassuring me. I can't take that branch and use it to stay afloat. For all I know the branch has poisonous thorns that will eventuall kill me.

cheers,

Ikewe
