I think the reason people assume I'm a Todd is because I am VERY girly. I mean, even my name... Fuschia. I'm an overtly sexual person, which comes through loud and clear. I don't cyber, but I'm a huge flirt and I'm extremely suggestive (just read some of my thread on the Tarquinas forum, you'll see. LOL) I'm very feminine. So, most of them assume that I'm overcompensating for the huge donker I must obviously have IRL.
There's a thread on the Tarquinas forums, that's actually VERY amusing, called "You might be a Todd if..." I'll have to find it and posta link.

The correct way to address someone who is cross-dressing is by the pronoun that corresponds to the clothing at that time, not to the actual gender. I see no difference in this game.
Now, as for guys who are all mad when they discover that their object of affection is a male IRL, well maybe they shouldn't be acting so improperly in the first place. This is an MMO which is played by many different people, including children. You never have any guarantee that the person to whom you are speaking is who he or she says.
Speak to everyone in game politely and respectfully, as if that person is your mother. Hey, it could be!
very well put

It usually doesn't bother me, but on occassion it gets irritating. Honestly though, I think thetypical "SoR Ua girl?" question drives me crazy more than anything else.

The closest I've ever come to being challenged was being asked what a girl could possibly enjoy about starwars and SWG. That was only once. I also have a male and have never been asked if I am gay or something like that. /shrug. I also tend to only play with failry mature people. I don't respond to stupidity, or l337 speak either. It helps.

One thing I noticed early on in SWG is that I got accused of being a rl male a lot more than I ever have in any other game. So, it was sort of a shock for me at first. It seems odd to me because I know so many rl females play SWG so your chances of meeting an rl female should actually be higher in this game. Then it occurred to me that it is probably because there is such a large female identity in SWG. Most people think of Dancer as a "female" and at least slightly "sexual" role, so I guess it's just on their minds a lot more. *shrug* I've also never been propositioned to cyber as much in any other game as I am here. Maybe this is just a normal adjustment period for introducing "female" roles?
Totally random bit of sharing - I often call my rl male ig friends "she" forever even after I've been told about their rl status if I met them in a female role. I have to make a really strong effort to stop and usually only do so after some serious begging (or threatening)on their part.
I got in alot of trouble in a different online game before SWG, so when this game came out, I made my little female a bothan and made her a tailor. I wanted to start over, s intentionally made an intelligent, hairy bothan female instead of going for sexy like I had before. Now that I've played SWG for a year, I have to say I totally enjoy this character more than any other character I've created. I have never had anyone call me a male in real life with Chiana, but Rumer (who is human) was accused of being male in real life.

This hasn't been an issue for me in SWG yet--possibly because I have a face like a tapir.
But I see it in other aspects of geekdom. I play Warhammer 40k, for instance. But only at home:
"Is that your boyfriend's army?"
"Your boyfriend has a nice army."
"You must get really bored being dragged to these things by your boyfriend."
I have rolled up a male character on Kettemoor, but I haven't done much with him. I did play a male character on City of Heroes for a little while, though. (I dressed him in blue jeans and a bare chest--yum). I found that when I was in groups, I was always making passes at female characters, or commenting on their costumes, or turning anything they said into an innuendo. It felt natural. That probably says something about me, but I'm not sure what...

This random sig quote is brought to you by The Order Of The Stick:
"Well, I just figured we'd wander around, kill some sentient creatures because they had green skin and fangs and we don't, and then take their stuff."

Personally, I just assume that a female toon has a female player attached to her, as more than one of the women in my guild have been on teamspeak. Of course if they're wearing nothing and their name is SeksiSteve or something, then I wonder. I don't know why people are so convinced that women don't play this game, and are so afraid they might be talking to a guy.

That reminds me of a funny story this woman truck driver i know told me. She is average in height leaning more toward the petite side. She went to make a drop off at this plant and this asian man with a very very thick accent and obviously traditional gender values is the reciever. He looked at her and asks, It's just you in there? where is your man?
