Thread: *gag* and a question...

never in my life have I heard of a command browser. Is this a new thing? I find my abilities under control A.
The command browser they're talking about is the same one you get to with control A - it's just that since new players now start with a different default keymap, by default they hit B to get to that, rather than control A under the keymap you started with and have never changed.
It's a frustrating issue, actually, as when I want to try to help newbies, I have no idea what to tell them. "So, to get to your some UI, just press... oh wait... well, *I* press ctrl-something but I have no idea what you would press cause your keymap's different. Um... well, you can look at those little tiny icons on the bottom right of your screen.. go to the.. [counting to self.. one, two, three..] fourth icon you see and click it."
Yeah the tutorial is a good idea but I've noticed two wrong impressions it gives new players:
1) JEDI JEDI JEDI JEDI MUST BECOME JEDI GOAL OF GAME IS JEDI MUST BECOME JEDI.... Dancing and recruiting for <party> in Mos Eisley the question I've had more guildies, newbies, random folks, and others ask me is 'How do I become a jedi?'... I understand this is an interest to many players but it just seems to have gotten worse after the tutorial missions were introduced with their empasis on it.
2) Begging for tips... I remember reading one of the original dancer guides when I first started out with Laera and even it gave me the impression that the best way to get tips was to use macros. I eventually learned otherwise but I didn't get it when people were upset.
I have to admit when the "Siren" sounded during the quest I actually stopped dancing and equipped a rifle. I'm too conditioned by combat quests I guess...
loud sound = attack/death
Also when people ask me how to become a Jedi my standard response is "I don't know". With luck they'll remember that there are a few people here for whom that particular profession holds little interest.

QFE!
And then..they want to argue about it, because they think you are lying, trying to keep info from them, or think you are a jedi in disguise already. ::rolls eyes::

Heh... me too. It sounds just like the air raid siren from an old war movie. Time to head for the bomb shelter guys... the siren just went off!
