Rather than lowering costs, how about making them more than eye candy?
Perhaps each effect could be given a tangible effect:
- Dazzling lights could blind for a short while.
- Smoke effects could cause a charging creature to lose sight of the dancer and give up the charge.
- That sort of thing...
Then we could join a group for more than cleaning upthe aftermath.

That would be a pretty cool reason to train up the lighting effects, but you'd have to limit the range for the blind and stuff, though the smoke effect one would be great if it gave you an increased chance to dodge for a round or two.

Excellent post.
The length of a Dancer's mind buff duration needs to be brought in line with Doctor buffs though.
