In real life nearly every dance troupe dances in formation, otherwise it looks like a bad nightclub. I think there should be a range of formations available to dancers in game that move the grouped dancers into predesigned "shapes" and always return them to that spot after they flourish. ie a single straight line, 2 rows of dancers, a square formation, a circular one, 4 rows of 4 etc. There a many of them to choose from. I think it should only be operative for the group leader so as to stop it being overused and causing even more visual chaos.

Nifty idea. I'd be happy with a way to move, as well.

Say someone sits down and is looking up my skirt. Why should I /stopdance and move just to get this guy out of my comfort zone?

As it is now, I can /changedance formal, zoom around the room, and /changedance popular to reposition myself. But those who do not have access to formal are out of luck.

Or maybe it reflects how unskilled of a dancer they are. But still.

The formation idea is great, though. It could also ensure uniform spacing between dancers. I have a bad eye for distance, so manually lining up with the dancers is awful for me.

I think for exotic 1-4 there need to be more good flourishes. I have only been using the first 3 flourished for each because they are the only good ones for those dances. The rest look like a bellydance. Maybe put good exotic fourishes in place of those and add a bellydance to master dance? Just a thought.

Regarding the missions, I don't like them. I danced for 3 hours the otehr night before my missions were finally done and the payout was maybe $140 each. That is no way for a dancer to make a living with missions. I see most people dance for 5 minutes and get their small reward while me being a master dancer had to dance for 3 hours before they finished. I had forgot that I even had the missions by then. I for one was looking forward for dancer missions, til I tried them.

I don't see what the big problem is with healing other people. Entertainers should stop thinking about themselves so much, so what if two branches are only there to benefit others, you chose the profession, stick to it or leave it. I don't see a reason to have notification boxes to allow others to be healed by you. If it was real, you wouldn't know half the people were even watching you entertain while you help them "relax". Only fix Dancers really need are more flourishes. If you don't like the fact that you are offering services to others for free, then don't be a dancer.

What issue is that exactly? The issue that some people are too stupid to realize that cantinas remain stocked if they tip?

That problem sorts itself out. When I go to Wayfar, people there tip me because they know what a treat it is to have me show up.

Thus, I dance there a lot. It's a player-driven economy. The solution is to dance only if it's profitable. If you aren't making money, move to another town or work harder. I don't know which category you are in.

Either way, you need to put forth effort to get those tips. Leave the saturated market you're in or work up a good routine when you interact with customers.

Entertainers are not broken. But I'm glad the flourishes will be examined.

Heh, I left the Cantinas quite a while ago. Its always been my contention that SOE has put the least amount of thought into the entertainment fields. I think that lack of thought will come back and haunt them as they made entertainers the avenue of curing BF and mind wounds.

What I would like to see... I'd like to see entertainers get something more useful that some more dances and flourishes as they progress up the ladder. Something that makes them a better comodity in a player run economy. Perhaps a global marker on a map or something that would enhance a player run club. Battlefield abilities and buffs would be nice also.

The biggest disappointment I see is that the entertainers I have known who left the field were the better entertainers, not the afkers....

There is a difference in getting by and living. Since when was entertaining a selfless proffession? Top entertainers in modern society make a very comfortable living. How many top entertainers give daily free concerts and performances?

In the current SWG economy I seemore entertainers leaving the field then entering it and this needs to be addressed unless we are willing to just accept the SWG chat room concept in leu of progress.

That's true. I'm getting my Master Dancer teaching today, and after that, you won't see me in the cantina again. Why should I dance for chump changefrom the FPS-player-stylebozos who think I owe them a living, when I can heal myfriends in camp AND make big $$ from a hunting mission at the same time?

Hehe, a lot has changed since this topic started including those 7k tips aye?

A lot of ppl took big hits to their incomes and it seems tiping your entertainers for something you can watch or listen to for free has made tipping an unneeded expense.

I think this is becoming the biggest problem facing the entertainer fields now as I am seeing friends leaving the trade to pursue more profitable avenues. I rarely have time to dance myself even as I must spend more and more time with the mining op to support me. Had a friend come by my house for a dance because there were no entertainers at the Kaadara Cantina. Its going to get worst as more entertainers leave the field to survive. It costs credits to be in this game, maintainance on my house didn't go down and I'm not going to live on a bench in the Cantina...

Right now this seems to be the biggest issue facing entertainers, more important then poorly created flourishes...

Well first Raven thanks so much froom working to help out the enterainers that really do enjoy helping others. I haven't left the cantina's completely - but I do spend a good week away then I will dance again. Yes, because no tips. When the price of items doesn't really go down and the tips drop - I got to get money somewhere. I'm now a novice pistoleerand scout so I can make some money somewhere.

Now, when I need some healing Itip those in the cantina - asa dancer I tip the people that comein and heal me so I can stay dancing. But the tips coming in seem to have droped off. There are a fewwho stilltip but they are hard to find. I usually find they are theones I goout and run missions with so I can help them out as they help me.

I like the idea of doing shows - Ireally would like to get a group of entertianers together on eclipse so we can put on shows - hey we have theaters in the game lets use them. I just wish there was a way to charge admision to the shows. Just like you wouldin life. It would be great we can really help healing - and entertianing and not have to worry about tips - we get paid for working. Just a thought. Maybe this can be something that a MasterDancer or Musiciancan do,it would be an awesome perk to get the position. Gives us all something to look forward to.

I love to enteratian - and I do it because it is fun to meet new people. Butto live on the tips it just doesn't happen. I'm not a master dancer yet.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, if it has then I am sorry for bringing it up again.

But my dancer would LOVE to see which player is actively watching me dance, so I can interact with them like we should be doing.

I play Alya Benere on Starsider, a master dancer. I chose dancer as a profession because I wanted to explore the social interaction and roleplaying opportunities available in this type of game. It took awhile to reach Master Dancer (no macros involved as that would defeat the whole point of playing her), but once it was attained I found litttle incentive to dance in the cantinas any longer. I don't really care about the titles, or "power" or anything like that. But the fact that I had no new moves to look forward to makes dancing in and of itself a bit boring. I still enjoy interating with folks, but the dancing itself holdslittle joy.

What I would VERY much like to see is a system that truely allows us to employ our own creativity. A 'Dancing Construction Set' as it were. Give us the ability to create our own dances, and perform them in front of others. An extensiveset of small moves that can be strung together in a macro would restore the enjoyment to the profession. As it stands now, the promise of politician keeps me in this game.

Cheers,

Alya

We have that ability already. You can construct a macro that allows you to do flourishes from different dances by liberaluse of the /changedance command.

If you're asking for the developers to allow you to alter the dance moves, i.e. where a dancer kicks during a flourish, that will never happen - it would take HUGE amounts of coding, and a huge database of moves andkicks, all provided by having real dancers come in and work for countlesshours getting their individual moves into the game in a way that they can be strung together effectively.

"1. Change the way a dancer heals so that they are the one's that initiate the healing instead of allowing someone to come up and target them without their knowledge. This will not only help them with tips but will also eliminate the problem of being forced to put up with boneheads insulting them because you would have a choice not to heal someone if they treat you badly"

Not only would this help with tips it would help with LAMErs! THEY WOULDN'T GET XP FOR HEALING PEOPLE! Up to exotic, but can't heal people worth crap!
