RS said he'd think about having a Dev/Ent talk... TH asked me to remind him about that and I will go email him now. Maybe we can see that happen soon and you guys can ask more things directly. I'd really like to have more direct communication.

We're still working on bugs and the weird stuff our last "fix" left us with... it's all gone to QA. Ok, so that should be everything on where we are with the Devs right now, lol. Of course I read your posts Drygo! I try to push for the things we need attention on the fastest... that's not usually Content Requests, we have to do that on their schedule and Missions fall into that pile.

Cool...thanks for all that feedback in one place. When you look at it, it actually looks like quite a lot is going on, which is good. I think it would be wonderful if RS had an ent/dev talk. My only fear tho...and this is not pointing fingers at any one person directly, but I would hope that if this were to happen, we'd all be able to ask questions nice and politely and don't attack him. Otherwise, he'll never do it again. LOL

And, yeah, I have participated in the "what to ask" thread on musician, I probably should also in Entertainer. I figured you did read all of my posts. I was just apologizing because I seem to be on a writing spree tonight. hehe.

I fear that's because other players expect them to be free from entertainers. It's a catch-22 situation. No one is going to go to a place where no dancers are located, so no dancers are going to go to a place where no other players are, so no one is going to go where no dancers are, so... . If we start appearing in out-of-the-way places, the customers will come. Now I agree that the game has always been overpopulated with hotels and casinos - there are just too many venues. But this problem is easily solved. Entertainment missions should be confined to cantinas, at least until population increases to an extent whereby other venues can be supported, or until players have some real reason for going to casinos and hotels (whose bright idea was it to make it unlikely to everwin money in a casino - I mean no one is going to go there unless they can make a littlemoney - get a clue, developers - this ain't Las Vegas).

I just hope the timeline turns out to be more substantial than the other stuff we keep hearing from the developers regarding how 'they really share our concerns', that 'fixes are in the works', and 'maybe not the next update, but there's a really good chance that it will be in the one after that'. I've heard it all before.

Yes, it's the same catch-22 as with buffbots. The afk problem caused most real dancers to leave the Cantinas, which made buffs not readily available, which made people make buffbots, which made more dancers leave or drop, which made people make more buffbots, ad nauseum.

It's a difficult situation because there are some things that are going to be easier to fix than others. I think when the hologrind is over, that the ATK players are going to be able to "re take" the Cantinas. I'm trying to be positively optimistic about it. There will be less reason for people to go afk because they won't be hologrinding. More dancers will come back and teach the next generation how much fun it is to be ATK. I think this is repairable.

I'm concerned that the buffbot situation isn't repairable. I'm concerned that so many people have them now that they aren't likely to give them up. I think curbing the buffbot appeal is going to be a much harder road to travel, even if we do become more common, and more ATK in the Cantinas. People have found a way to get 24/7 reliable buffs for free, and that's just going to be extremely difficult to overcome.

Similarly, I think the game has progressed to a point where re populating the lesser populated NPC Cantinas is going to take a great deal of work. I'm not saying it's impossible. But, I do think that the entertainer missions will help in that respect. But, I think it's going to take even more work. Possibly group entertainer missions might help solve that problem a little better. If there's more than one person that goes to a Cantina, instead of being lonely, they might actually decide to stay and have some fun. I don't know. But, I think this is going to be another issue that is going to be very difficult to overcome.

I definitely share your concern about our delays. I'm just not really sure what can be done about it, especially right now when they're really consumed with 3 major things that have nothing to do with entertaining. I actually do have faith that it's going to come. But, I also do get discouraged from time to time when we don't get anything new. I'm very patient, but everybody has their limits. Throwing us a bone every once in awhile would do wonders. A dev chat would be great...I'm hoping the ent missions at 9.2 will actually come to fruition. I mean, *something* every couple of months does wonders for the community. As I mentioned earlier, the droids were great for me.

Editedbecause I was tired . . .

Beery, you misunderstood my post completely. I was not being elitist or confrontational. That was not my intent. Usinga brutal RL situation to describe your opinion of an in-game situation, is taking it a bit too far, I think, but I can see you are very passionate about your opinions and feelings. I haven't had the time to read the posts following your reply to me. If I have anything to add after I've had the time to look over them, I will.

Actually, I take this dialogue as a good sign. I do tend to come over kinda strong on forums like these, and it can alienate people. The fact that many others share my concerns - though perhaps not my level of outrage - and are willing to listen to my criticisms rather than dismiss them out of hand, means that the community's viewpoint has changed to some extent since I left. Before, my criticisms were dismissed out-of-hand. Now at least there's room for a moreovertly criticalviewpoint. I'm beginning to sense that people here are not the same long-sufferingpatsies that populated these forums 6 months ago. Those folks would have shot me down in flames after my first post here. Maybe something can actuallyget done now that people are becoming moreactively critical of the developers' apathy.

BeeryI really don't know what to say to you. You have your opinion and I wont change it. I won't even try. I also can not just sit by and constantly readyour more than negative posts which are suffused with no little amount of whatI perceive as condescension without saying something.I have been playing this game since the first week, I would have said day one, but if anyone remembers way back then there were major problems with the login servers the first few days. It is only since I found my niche that I came to these forums and started to post. You stated before you wondered why you came back. I am wondering about that as well. Its your $14.95 a month, spend it as you see fit. It is also an open forum, express your views as you deem necessary. I do not wish to get in a flame war with you or anyone else. I however feel that I am giving tacit approval of all your posts by simply remaining silent. I will not and do not wish to do this.

This may appear to put me full support of the way things are at the moment; I am not! There are many things that need to change, too many in fact to list here. I do however play this game to have fun. We do and will continue to make much of our own conent. When the day arrives that my fun ceases Lei will bid everyone a fond adieu. The dancer community doesneed to work together to change things. There is a fine line between "actively critical" and overtly antagonistic. We may not agree on where that line is. I am 100% behind our new corr, Panthu, and the Dancer/Ent community as a whole. She is right, we do need to work within the system to change it. Antagonizing the devs at this point will do more harm than good.

So thatis just a little bit of what I am feeling. Take it as you will.

"Antagonizing the devs at this point will do more harm than good."

And what good has come from coddling them, may I ask? It's all well and good to argue that I'm just a pessimist and an antagonist, but it seems to me that there's been months of time spent being nice to the developers, and nothing has come of it. If you want to keep sucking up to them, you're welcome to do so, but where has it got you so far? Sometimes you have to break eggs if you want to make an omelette.

yikes, speaking about old threads... I'm in this one too!

anyway, the newer post are too long to read for my dizzy little head right now, so let me post one of my famous short responses:

the entertainment-related correspondents and a few others (including me and Jessi) are really trying to push things for entertainers right now. our voices are being heard, and we need your support between now and when they do get to us and give us some love

edit: not only can't I breath, I can't spell either. go figure

OMFG a board where people act responsible OMFG. Comming from launch As a Bounty Hunter and to dealing on trade form battles. This post is the best post I have ever heard discuss in this entire game. I thought this was corporate america kill or be killed. Its nice to see the way things are done here/bow I might go back to master dancer on that thought alone.

I think Beery's posts are great. There's nothing wrong with a hellraiser, you need people like that.

The reason I was attracted to the entertainer profession, is that it had never been tried. Something new, almost experimental. I'd think, if I was a dev, that would be something I'd reallyget into.New ground. Not only working on a mmorpg, but working on a class that had never beendone before, where there was nothing like it in any other game. Instead, I get the feeling they'd just rather people spent money for extra accounts to have their own bots. Then I hear rumors of adding Jukeboxes, for crying out loud.Down the road. For player-events... since they figure, by then, the professions will have had their last gasps, and there won't be anymore bands by then?

Do they want this to be a profession of robots? I seriously think the current team doesn't even like entertainers, and would rather see them as player-owned npc's, like glorified vendors. Honestly.

It's not that nothing has been done. What has been done--benefits bots.

I think you've hit on something there. The developers who are working on the entertainment classes certainlydon't seem to 'get it'. I think they must be frustrated leet players. I very much doubt that any of them would willingly play the game as an entertainer. What we need are developers who understand the entertainer professions. I don't think we have that level of understanding right now - in fact I don't think we ever had it. Without understanding there can be no commitment, and without commitment there can be no realprogress.

I have a feeling Raph Koster was the one behind entertainers. He loved it when people used to take their bards and stand around at player events in UO, and is a musician is real life. But he was... promoted.

You probably missed the dev chat where they said--not something like "O I play a smuggler" or "Yes, I have a bounty Hunter, too"--butthat many of their wives and girlfriends played entertainers. Classic!
