Hello, new to the message boards.

I will not charge a cover. I recieved 22,000 +2300 from the missions I was doing in about 30 minutes this morning.

If I charged a cover I am positive it would be less. I need the healing XP very bad, I woudl pay them a cover to listen haha. Why charge for someone helping me. If when I make master I also do not think I will charge a cover charge, I beleive I make great tips being there to say welcome (not a macroed message). Usualy I have everyone listening to me play the othres with the cover charge seem to ignore the people.

just my thoughts, now back to trying to gain healing! YAY

I was on my combat toon and went to Dant, Mining OP. There was one ent there....a dancer. She had a cover charge of 20k and she was afk. The place was empty and I wasn't going to pay that much. Felt too much like a bot situation.

btw...I won't charge anything.

I don't charge anything because I rarely dance in public cantinas. I dance for my Guildies and for people who ask. Other than that, I love dancer, will never drop it, but I mainly grind pistoleer and pilot.

Another test :

Mos Eisley cantina, medium traffic but low entertainer presence, no bot, convenient spot, set /covercharge to zero and displayed a Master Entertainer title.

I receivedan almost uninterrupted gain of Ent Healing XP. It was rare that I didn't gain any Ent Healing XP during more than 30 secs.

Got 3 patrons who paid me through freely given tips. One 300 tip, one 1000 and one 5000 : total 6300 cr.

I still believe it matters little to display any skill mastery. I think you can be master dancer or novice entertainer or anything between them, it doesn't change much things to patron decision to watch you or someone else.

What matter is if they will be forced to pay or not. And how much.

The zero /covercharge probably allowed me to haveso many people watching me. From previous test,a fee of 200 cr is enough to prevent most of people, if not almost all, to watch you.

At 1000 cr /covercharge, only one player watched me dancing depite several hours of performance.

(a 1000 cr charge for a three hours inspiration buff doesn't sound outrageous to me but the buff itself probably doesn't worth that much in the eyes of people)

The sum patrons are going to agree to pay is difficult to guess but probably very low, no more than a couple of hundred credits, if not less.

I was much more sucessful waiting for freely given tips than forcing a /covercharge. Still, the huge majority of entertainers are not using the feature so using it probably provoke resentment rather than acceptance.

It seems obvious to me that if you have any hope to gain Ent Healing XP, you either need a group (so even if you set a /covercharge, you'll get XP nonetheless), either you don't set any /covercharge.

The easier being to not set a covercharge, there will always be entertainers not charging their services. So, this feature will probably never succeed to be used as a regular and accepted way by patrons (supposing entertainers themselves want to use it, which is not the case).

The ratio of money gains is clearly favoring the tip way over the covercharge way. Which means currently we have either an unreliable source of money (tips) either a stable but failing source of money (/covercharge). I suppose depending of the server and the players themselves, some people are happy with tips while others aren't.

I'll continue to set /covercharge to see if what already happened is confirmed or not, over time.

Thats awesome, must try that one!

In all seriousness tho, I do ok by using thetip system, and except for messing with friends leave it at 0. Our server is so small Iknow when you walk in the doorwether you are tipping me or not. This is excluding new people of course, causeIf youarenew, I dont expect a tip. Starting with 1k is hard!

I rely on tips, because... uhm... I keep forgetting that /covercharge exists when I go to dance, heh, I might try it out someday but not while I'm dancing in Mos Eisley O.o too many dead broke newbies. =3 In any event, I make pitiful money on tips until some really nice guy decides to tip me 50k (happined twice now, nice huh?) so when I need to make money I go get a couple quests at the Entertainer Mission Terminal, dance for 10 minutes, then excuse myself for a couple moments to go get more quests and return. Easily pays for my mining facilities at least! (yay I have mining facilities now!)

Moved to another spot :

Theed Cantina, Master Entertainer title displayed, very low entertainer population (less than 6), low traffic, no bot, /covercharge set to zero (indeed, I didn't expect to keep performing there for long at first), almost 4 hours of performance.

Due to the very low entertainer presence, almost every patrons entering went to me or my group partners. Ent Healing XP was constant.

I got tips from bank transfer or directly, for a total of 18800 cr, from9 patrons.

The situation was interesting as the place wasn't flooded by entertainers. With such a low competition for attention (and I believe my own personnal performance), relying on tips is a viable solution

I noted that, since the inspiration buff changes, patrons feel more concerned by our efforts and are spontaneously giving tips more often, by opposition to old buffs, only sought from Master Dancer/Musician and BF healing being never or very rarely paid.
For low skill entertainer, it may mean they can have hope to gain money while not yet Master, something which was the exception under the old system.

The capacity to get an inspiration buff without being obliged to find either an ATK entertainer or a bot seems to change the relationship between patrons and entertainers.

Studying my fellow entertainers and trying to guess what were the choices of patrons, I believe people are choosing on the overall look of the performer : having a nice outfit, displaying visual effects and being ATK are major factor to me. As being a Master doesn't seem to be that decisive to get attention with a pure technical reason, the Master has more options to draw attention to him or her (more dances/songs, more visual effects).

While I can't be sure, I now think most AFKers get less attention, so the necessity of a group is growing for them.

Still, setting a /covercharge, whatever your performance, your ouftit, your efforts, sounds counter productive to me. The perception of entertainment tiping is still linked to a "favor" the patron is doing when tiping than receiving a service.

I had some patrons thanking us for performing but not tiping Well, better than nothing (and, no, they didn't look broke)

I am sorry about the implication within that.

But I still don't believe you that anyone would give you an AV-21 just for dancing and entertaining. An AV-21 schematic, yes. But not a powerplant (worth 7 - 9 million credits on my server) or a full AV-21 (worth 10 - 12 million credits on my server).

It does happen,I have also been tiped a AV21. Mostly it was a tip for never being AFK, never charging or setting a fee for buffing. And listening to their problems. I have also been tiped a fishing poll and bait, still have that in teh bank for some reason.

I spent 4 hours in Mos Eisley over the weekend. I guesstimate that I had about 20 people watching me and made about 80,000 in tips. I'd say that is not too bad.

What was fun was, the guy who gave me 50,000 of that 80,000... He bank tipped me, I thanked him, and he sent me a tell: "That's for being at keyboard and not having a cover charge."

Apparently the two AFKers in the corner both had cover charges. I did not bother to listen to them to check.
