Thread: Guide to Patch 12.1 Buffing

A quick question for any dancers out there who might have tested this item I saw on the musician forum...

The musician in our group does not have to be a buffing level musician in order for us to apply a dance mind buff.

Anyone tested this and can verify?

I'm all for teaming up with a master musician (Buzzz and Tanoo are great fun on my server) but it's not always possible. It would be great if I too had a nice easy "work around" for the passive group buff bug.

Thanks much to everyone who's taken the time to test and post the solutions. It's not always easy to educate the masses when they have become accustomed to things operating in a certain way. Being able to have some solid information to provide to them has helped a lot.

Cheers,

We found one workaround for group dancer buffs last night seemed to work. At least it worked on Lowca in an NPC cantina. Basically the entire group watches the dancer for the regular duration. The dancer then does a /setperf on one of the group members and they wait for a few seconds and then stop watching. The dancer then does a /setperf on the next group member who does the same thing and it repeats until all the group members are done. This seemed to work last night. If not I will ask for details since I was not the dancer when we were testing it last night. Must unlock so I can get my dancer/ID back.....

That's correct, the musician listened to need not be more than Novice Entertainer.

Yes, by happenstance.
I was trying to get a dancer buff without listening to anyone just after a hotfix went through (just in case that hotfix was for us), and I did /stopwatch. A minute or so later, I was testing again and before each of my tests I would /stoplisten and /stopwatch, so there was my /stoplisten. No buff.

Thanks so much for the very quick feedback! I don't have a slither horn but it's very easy to finda novice entertainer with oneor find someonewilling to give me one

I have several group hunts coming up in the next few days and the guild was worried how we were going to coordinate schedules. This will make things so much easier. Thanks again.

Although there were work arounds for most people involved fairly quickly, it was interesting to see the entire SWG community get a little taste of how frustrating our lives have been for so long. Most didn't care that our code was buggy and our dances broken, now all of a sudden I have plenty of people telling me how very bad it is that our code is problematic.

cheers,

Yes, that is pretty much what we found last night. Basically:

- always /stopwatch first
- the only way you can get a Passive(grouped) dancer buff is by also *simultaneously* getting a musician buff

Follow those two rules and dance buffs will work.

We could not reliably get this to work. I had 18 people on ventrilo, 2 other people (besides me) in my house within yelling distance and a number of other players in the guild cantina all trying to test this and other means.

Maybe once out of four tries did the *temp* fix (must have a music partner, watch first, listen, stopwatch first, stoplisten) seem to work.

We missed a big PVP event because of prep time last night. Here's hoping it shakes out correctly once the devs track the prob down!

This being my first post and not wanting to be negative...but before I begin I want to start by thanking the people who are posting the work arounds.....Thankyou.....however to the people that are now outraged that this bug made it live in the game and this isn't the only one....I believe this patch was rushed for whatever reason before they had enough testing done....as evidenced here on the test center bug forums

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=in_testing&message.id=37616

again not wanting to be negative but how could they let this patch go Live without knowing about the bugs that were currently in it

Thankyou all for your posts on this work around.

HI and congrats! YAY.

besides the buffs, does anyone also not have "/note" for each server? I only have the one from corbantis on all servers I have a dancer and musician. I was keeping information in there fast copy to paste, names, basic links and great customers.

Or have I been in a dream and never had a (/note) for each server.

Thank you

Hi - I didn't read every post so bear with me. I'm not an entertainer just a paying customer. You say the music buff is working in group buffs and that is what I've experienced. The dance buff didn't work. At first I thought it was me and kept watching a couple more times. I wasn't group leader (my friend was). My friend got both buffs ok, but like I stated, I only got a musician buff. I understand this is a bug right now so I assume that I have to be group leader with the dancer/musician for this to work for me? And no one else can be grouped or they will only receive a musician buff if they are? Ialso triedgrouping with a musician and listened and watched both people and still only received the music buff.

Thanks for your help.

Has it been fixed on Test Center? Have any of our testers visited the server now that it's up again?

That was at about 7:30, apparently, and the servers have since come back up. Any updates?

Just an FYI, I grouped with a master musician this evening and we performed a grouped buff in my cantina (a player city cantina). There were 6 people trying to get mind buffs. I gave instructions to all 6 people and they each did the following:

1) join group

2) start watching Ikewe

3) start listening to Buzzz

3) at the end of the buff, each person stopped watching Ikewe

4) stopped listening to Buzzz

Every person in the group received the musician buff but 2 people did not receive the dance buff. For those two individuals I did a /setperform while they watched as though we were doing this without being grouped. Both individuals got their dance buff using this method. Not a great success ratio but it could have been worse.

One of the people who did not receive the dance buff on the first try, indicated that it "wouldn't let" her use the /stopwatch command and when she tried the radial menu for me there was only a stoplisten command. As the group was in a bit of a hurry I wasn't able to get better details on the "wouldn't let" statement but I can try to later.

Two other entertainers, also a master dancer and a master musician, also performed a group mind buff but in a NPC city cantina and reported a successful group buff.

The possibility is that it's a purely random fail rate or the fail rate is higher in player city cantinas than in others.

Cheers,

Ikewe
