Okay, I have to post here again because now I feel horrible.

Panthu, I really hope you didn't construe my post as thinking tht YOU don't try to help us. I know you do everything you can and it's very very appreciated. In retrospect I can see how those posts could be read that way and I'm sorry if they were. Guess that's why it's bad to have a pity party, never know who you might end up hurting, and I apologize.

"I personally wouldn't shed one tear if buffs just went away. Intended to help us out financially, the whole thing has backfired into a living cantina hell."

I agree, but to take it awayat this stage would be a disaster. Patrons aren't paying for heals at anywhere near the rate they were before buffing came into being. The result would be evenmoreempty cantinas, as well-trained musicians and dancers went looking for money elsewhere.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

Don't feel bad, I didn't take it that way.

This is an ongoing problem with anyone who provides healing/buffing services. I frequently give doc and/or musician buffs before PVP events while dual logged, but I always log off my healer before the fight so that my main character doesn't get lagged and bombarded with tells during the action.

No matter how long I've been there, someone's always just running in, sometimes a half hour late or more, screaming that they need a buff. Even when the fight's already in progress they flood the chat channels complaining that they don't have buffs.

You just have to train them. If they can't get it done on your schedule, they can wait or go somewhere else. Do that a few times and they'll get better.

Or, just do what you did and don't service people who can't respect your time.

Every time I had figured I was done (not a word was spoken to me even when they were tlaking in group and I asked questions in group and spatial) and I made to leave they's say "Wait! so and so isn't here!"

Every time I log in I'm terrified they changed the game to Dance Dance Revolution without telling anyone after holding a "focus group"

I think we're going to get the same fix here that all the other AFK activities get, those are the vibes I've been getting lately. I did submit like 5 proposals with a combo menu option/random code thingy just for us... but I'm a little worried even if it does come with a "mini game", it might still get on Dancers' nerves.

Are you getting a different vibe?

I'm getting roughly the same vibe. Hehe, time was, the devs actually used to *tell* me directly what they had in mind and swear me to secrecy on pain of death. Now I rely on vibes.

Like you and Tiaga, I'm also worried that a "mini game" or clicky UI or random code would get on the nerves of entertainers. I also worry that those things will be circumvented, as is already the case with AFK sampling/surveying. Still, I hope the devs do something. I'm personally a dinosaur who doesn't use macros, so it wouldn't bother me at all if they abolished the recursive macro. I recognize that lots of good "live" performers do use macros for good reasons, though, and it appears the devs like the macro. So that leaves us hoping your vibes will ripen into an anti-bot system that is both effective and fun. A tough combo, that.
