I've had this same conversation on Bria, Lowca and Tarq going all trhe way back to beta. Sadly the people who own the buff bot/heal bot/AFK loot bot alts always see themselves as heros for the majority because they are providing a "needed" service 24 hours a day 7 days a week! Without them the entire star wars universe would grind to a halt as people couldn't heal BF or find crystals/or other silly looted itemfor their jedi! /laugh

No ammount of argument will make them understand because they don't want toknow that any other way of playing is intended.

Tarq is by far the worst server I have ever seen for buff bots though... The last time I played on that server there were at least 10 buff bots parked right in the front door of the coronet cantina. The theed cantina was like 10 players all AFK and every other cantina I went to completely empty of all people... Entertainer or wounded/in need of mind buff.

thanks, that did it..

what a waste of air you put on hehe.. obviously people like him are gonna have a real ball when their precious buffbots get the boot.. failure to communicate.. while doing a fine job of rubbing you against the grain.

I doubt I'd have talked that long, after I report someone they usually get 'honoured' with an entry in my ignore and denyservice list.. you must be saintly for trying or the cantina was very boring at the time

Clearly the person was out of line, but why did you invite the buff bot into your group to begin with? I can only imagine it was to deny people the ability to use the buff bot which you don't think should be allowed and you didn't do this to piss people off?

This is the thing. Any person who runs a buffbot must know by now how much it pisses off the real entertainers. Yet they do it anyway for their own selfish reasons. One can argue that someone who groups a buffbot does it for their own selfish reasons and is knowingly pissing off someone else as well.

Fact of the matter is, people who run buffbots like to use the argument "well, it's game mechanics, I can do it, so there!" Similarly, a buffbot with an autojoin in their macro is allowing someone like Fuschia or myself to use game mechanics to disable that bot. If the buffbot doesn't want to be grouped, they need to take out the /join from their macro.

Sure, you show both sides when you tired of the conversation but not the start, as was pointed out, so who really knows what this whole deal was really about and why things got that ugly?

You know about something we don't? I do not see the buffbot in her group.

But you do admit this player was engaging in abusive conduct toward Fuschia, don't you ZabrackDimo? That is really the only issue that is important. Nothing a player does in the game warrants that type of behavior.

Let me clear up a few things that seem to be missing from the story... even though I'm FAIRLY SURE I already stated them for Mr. Trolly Pants' benefit.

The previous leader had invited the buffbot. He then turned the leadership over to me when he logged out. Then this fellow comes in, demands an invite to the group, and gets very hostile when I say no. He then asked me to disband the buffbot, and Idid that. The fact is, you DIDN'T miss any of the conversation. Everything you need to know is right there.

Also, for the record, just because I DIDN'T invite the buffbot at this particular time, doesn't mean I wouldn't. I'm all for disabling them any chance I get. By the way, you can usually disable musician buffbots until they return to the keyboard by grouping them, doing /stopband, and booting them. It messes up their macro.

Still does not give that buffbot owner or the player who got angry any right to say those things to you, Fuschia. You did nothing the rules do not allow, Fuschia. He on the other hand broke community standards.

Fight fire with fire guys. I may be new..but I didn't just fall off the turnip truck in real life experience. I have been conducting my own personal war of propaganda against the buffbots ..etc ..in the Theed cantina on Ahazi server. I have been doing this since BEFORE I got Master Dancer three days ago. Been here lurking reading the Dancer forum..so I have a good idea what the issues are, and why it would be better for all of us, if this afk thing was got rid of ...permanently. No bandaids please...the problem is going to kill our entertaining professions...for sure.

Okay..what I do. I waltz in past the buffbots at the entrance to the door to the cantina...its laggy as heck there and always end up running into a wall..due to all the afkers and the 3 or so buffbots hogging space there.

I start dancing in near the front of the bar..close to the stairs. I send out a message that I am looking for an entertainer group. Usually the area where I am..is almost empty. If I get an invite..thats good. If I don't...I round up any solitary entertainers that might be in the same room with me ...and I start my own group. At the same time...I send out NON-macroed messages that say: Support your local LIVE performers..come give us a try...come in and take a load off. We are here for YOU..

And so on. There is a buff bot who condescendingly says...for mind healing..blah blah..please watch the other entertainers..meanwhile..she is hogging all the buffing business. LOL

How nice of her. Well!! Every time she advertises that she's buffing..I pipe up with my own message about..coming to see me...I buff...I love a good joke..I am genuinely interested in what you have to say. EVERY single person that enters that room as a potential customer....I smile at them..I say hello <insert name> all non macroed..all with a personal touch.

Each and every time I have done this...as the day progresses...I end up with a FULL group of entertainers...having fun with each other...and we get ALOT of business. This takes some focus and perserverance..but..it works every time. And every time those buff bots..spam their "wares"...I counter with a shout about live performers...come support your live performers..come get some personal friendly service...etc.

THATS how you fight them...THATS how you drown them out...and I am GOING TO KEEP DOING IT!!!!!!

Oh, I know. If I felt I had done anything wrong or against the rules, I wouldn't have posted those screenshots.

Their macros can sometimes bring them back though. I willoccasionally bring them into my group and use /changebandmusic ceremonial. After all, Master Entertainer is useless to a buffbot since it doesn't need (or want) to actually entertain, so most of them don't bother with it.
