Real funny post, the information is so imcomplete. We're just seeing one side.

FUshiaD could of started the convo like "$%@# u jedi wannabe" or "20k for a mind buff" etc.

We're just seeing this fella getting mad. All we're saying is FushiaD's witty remarks. Information doesn't say who is innocent and who is not. We're just seeing the back side of the book

But his response was funny indeed.

Oh Fuschia, it's not just you.

A couple weeks ago he called me a holocroner. I assume he meant hologrinder, but who really knows. Obviously, I'm neither a holocroner or a hologrinder. But, whatev.

Anyway, onto the topic at hand. We had a couple brief discussions today both in game and on AIM about how rude, and stupid, and annoying some people are. And, like you, I almost always think I've "seen it all." But, then someone comes along, like how you posted, and I honest to goodness am still shocked by it. Today I was shocked by the viciousness on the Kettemoor forums. I mean, maybe because it's just not me to want to ever be cruel and belittle people that I still get shocked by what people say and do. I mean, I have oftentimes praised Kettemoor for being one of the best servers around, and for the most part I still believe that. In fact, I think it took me longer than most to get pissed about buffbots because Kettemoor was one of the last servers to become overrun by them. I naively thought that as "the unofficial RP server" that Kettemoor was immune to this type of behavior. Obviously, I was wrong. And, I think I got so discouraged when I first posted there last night because in a way it kind of "hurt" because I have become so fond of the community of Kettemoor. So, to find some people (granted some already had a reputation for being an ass), but some people who I had originally respected as part of the RP community, to come out and espouse some of the views they had, well, it was kind of devastating. It felt similar to when I left my old guild. I mean, it's just harsh whenever you find out that people you know and respect harbor such ill will and lack of respect towards you. And, I think that's why it affected me so much. I want to thank you, and some of the entertainers of Kettemoor (Rayill, Tandaava, and others) for helping me get through such a trying day. And, of course, Tiaga, because he's such a brain and can pretty much cut through false arguments like they were butter, as well as being one of our great Correspondents who is working his ass off to make sure that buffbots don't have a leg to stand on.

Oh see...here I am talking about *me* again.

But, it's stuff like that thread on Kettemoor forums, as well as what you posted here that in some sense give me a bit of strength because I know these people are ass hats. And, all they really do by simply being who they are is give the devs more of a reason to know that buffbots and other styles of gameplay are damaging and attract a clientele to this game that is undesirable. I truly believe the devs want this game to be the best game possible. And, I don't for one second believe they want this game to turn into a haven for the ignorantand cruel. I think posts like this help to show them that things need to be changed.

I don't think there's really any way for us to know which side represents a "substantial portion" of the player base. The other day I spent some time dancing in one of the outpost cantinas that had a buff bot. I got a lot of requests for buffs despite the fact that I was off to the side and not announcing I was buffing. (just greeting people and making conversation). Quite a few players while I was there complained that their botbuff didn't stick. Most simply gave up rather than try to regroup. And more than one expressed "man I hate autobuffers". I think we'll find that just as many players like the ease and convenience of an automated healing/buffing machine as do those who enjoy actually interacting, however minimally or briefly, with another player. I've certainly encountered far more players who seem to prefer attentive entertainers than the AFK zombies/autobuffers. I think the difference is that those who prefer the automated system are more vocal and can be ... more rude.

If anyone still has a problem with unattended play after seeing that...

Look customers of entertainment, maybe now you'll see why we just don't want unattendedness in entertainment gone. We NEED it gone to prevent things like this from happening. Things have been going on like this EVERY DAY for months. All because entertainers are trying to play theseprofessions the way the developers, and might I add, the OWNERS of the code, servers, and the game want us to play them. Hard to do a good job whenthings like this become more and more common.

I'm sorry if you don't think the cantina function should exist in this game, players. The fact is, its part of the game. And until it no longer is part of the game, I hope that you would follow pg 26 of your rulebook which states, "Entertainers rely on the goodwill of other players." However, if you choose not to follow pg 26 of your rulebook, I would hope you would follow pg. 81 of your rulebook which states, "Hateful, discriminatory, or obscene language WILL NOT BE TOLERATED." If you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all. Choose to ignore it, and you will be reported to a CSR.

And if anything like this happens to you dancers, here's what you do:

1) Do NOT respond to hateful /tells. Responding will only make it seem like you condone the /tells. If they send you two or more hateful /tells in a row, that is a pattern of behavior that qualifies as harassment and can be pursued as such.

2)Type /report . This will send a record of your chat channel to a CSR. Again, do not communicate to a harasser that you have reported him or her.

3) Type /addignore . Not only will this prevent you from receiving hateful /tells, but it is a prerequisite to pursuing furter action against a harasser. Do it. Don't /tell the harasser that you are doing it. Just do it so you can get back to having fun.

4)Find a safe area, sit down, and fill out a CSR ticket under community standards: harassment. Include the following information in the ticket:

a) The time the harassment took place, the number of harassing /tells, and the reason why you feel these /tells are abusive.

b) Ahistory of any previous CSR tickets or abusive incidents between yourself and this other character. Helps to have ticket numbers handy.

c) The steps you took to handle the abuse on your own, (/reported, /addignored, filled out ticket).

d) Wait for a confirmation E-Mail. Take a screenshot of it, because you'll have to delete it eventually. Now the harasser may or may not be banned or suspended. Frankly, they cannot tell you either way. But what you HAVE done is create a formal record concerning your complaints about this player. This is important, becauseif the player decides to continue his or her harassment of you or others, then the CSRs will have reason to act with greater force to prevent this type of player from doing what he or she is doing.

5) (And this is the hardest part) Do NOT spread it around that these things happened. I know it can be hard, but such things may only make things worse. If you feel you have to talk about these things, talk about it with a close friend or a small group of people you can trust to listen more than fly off the handle and seek retribution. Any action that is done by other players to right your wrong will only make the CSRs job that much more difficult. Remember. Harassment is something serious. Don't treat it as an in game"plot twist."

We need dancers more than ever to understand these things. Remember, no matter who you are, you have a RIGHT to a harassment free and enjoyable game experience. There are measures in place to ensure it. Don't be afraid to use them.

So sorry to see it that bad, Fuschia

That is so depressing, and it is true, a substantial portion of the player base now thinks like that This is the sort of stuff the devs need to be shown because this is *exactly* what we are dealing with.

And people who afk(maybe not even buff bot, just afk most of the time)wonder why we tend to make generalizations about afkers. When you have to put up with *that* how could you not come away bitter

Dangerous trends that SWG has started.....MMO's can not compete with normal games in almost all fields, save for social interaction. This game however has allowed players to forgoe that and now they are so used to doing *everything* with no interaction that it is almost expected....

The one thing that makes me smile is the fact that 90% of these AFK morons will be going to WoW so they can play a "good game".....Its going to be great watching guys like this try an play a game where *everything*, from grinding, to resing andto buffingis all dependent on other livepeople...

I might just play WoW for the first month just to watch these guys .....I amjust glad none of them ever played EQ in my guild, I could only imagine their whining during raid prep time

Eeeeeek... I've read loads of crap when I started playing this game, but this is actually the largest pile of bull**edit** I have ever seen. Excuse me my English, but this is too big of a joke:

"i raise my character until i get jedi, i am up to 19 professions i make every second I pay for this account worth it"

Well, aha, Sabrick, congratulations for you. You want a cookie now?

Geeeeee, this guy really doesn't understand the concept of Role Playing. I played this game because I wanted to be a master dancer. I am a master dancer and i'm never going to give this profession up. This is who I am in SWG. Who is someoen who has masterd so many professions in the game? What do you do? Where's the fun?

When I come home from a hard day work, I need some entertainment. This can be: watch a good movie, socialize with some friends, have some quality time with my partner in life or... immerse myself in the beautiful world of SW and play a mmoRPg. There I am Taharani, a girl born on Tatooine, raised on Naboo and her lifetime ambitions are to make life better for all adventurers in the galaxy (i don't give anything about the galactic war at the moment) and entertain people. This means healing mind wounds, lowering battle fatigue and of course BUFF PEOPLE and be a nice chat while doing that. This is what SWG-entertaining is about and I have a lot of fun while doing it. And Like Sabrick also says: get on IRC that doesn't work. On IRC I'm still myself who I am IRL. In SWG I'm playing a whole different person: I get to be a person in a SW world!!! How great is that? It rules... I own a house on Naboo, I have a landspeeder, a bike, a swoop,... I own different kind of droids and pets to keep me company and to ride and to maintain my house, carry my stuff and aid me on the battlefield. This is really cool.

I have fun being a person in SWG. What's the fun in grinding all that xp in all different kinds of professions? Who are you? What's your personality?

I have nothing against people who has the ambition to become Jedi. But do it in a good way and have fun while doing it? The way Sabrick's doing it I don't understand. Ok, he will get Jedi eventually and then what? You're a Jedi... Good for you, I'm going to give a cookie again. You still are a nobody, you are not a character, you are not a person in SWG. I have much more respect for a novice player in any of the base professions, but who plays SWG as a real person than some random Jedi that have accomplished that by grinding xp for days, weeks, months... I really would like to know what's Sabrick's ambition is after he is a Jedi. What is he going to do then? Then he can stop his account and better not pay for it anymore because his money is not worth it anymore. I wouldn't mind. His loss to the game won't make me cry, but he probably won't. I guess he will become one of those arrogant Jedi players then you see these days more often. *sigh*

Don't understand me wrong. I personally know a couple of Jedi that are also very true to SW and they are a blast to have around. But these days you see more and more arrogant Jedi turning up who are destroying the game for us.

I agree with the previous poster.

Wow.

All I can say.

Aside from: Man I'm glad this is ending soon.

Don't count on it. They'll still AFK macro, just with operating system or 3rd party tools.

The only way to get rid of that is to get SOE to change their policy to prohibit AFK play and then to staff sufficient CSR staff to police it.

No, I'm not saying this to burst your bubble. I'm saying this to show you what you really need to fight for.
