Thread: Mind Buffs The reason I don't wear my master dancer title.

I alwayswear my titlebecause I'm so proud of it and because I like to buff people.

It's fun to talk to them, ask them where they are going and most of the time they end up staying longer then the time required to buff. I also encourage them to get in touch if they are ever stranded on some strange planet and need buff. Then I'll fly out and help them out.

What I also enjoy is when the server comes back up and the buff bots are gone. A lot of people suddenly get to experience what it's like to get a buff from a real entertainer. They are usually pleasently surprised.

The thing is, this game is so much about what you make it to be and I'm enjoying life as Master Dancer.

However,I try to avoid buffing rebels and that sometimes causes some arguments and name calling (oppressor, terrorist.. etc..)

Roleplaying is so much fun

You'll still get me set up, right? Right!? Even if I'm a killer?

You can hide your title, but you can't hide the master dancer in your profile.

That's not reliable, because you never know if they dropped the profession or not. I can no longer wear the Master Dancer tag, but it is still in my profile.

Last night I was in the Mining Outpost on Dant to meet a freind. I had my Master Entertainer title up, hopefully to discourage people to demand me buff them. I wasn't in the tavern more than 30 seconds and 5 people demanded for me to makea solo group and buff them. I told them I wasn't buffing and i was waiting to meet a friend. Apparently, my words fell on deaf ears since they demanded I make a group and buff them again. I met my friend there and danced to heal our BF before we headed out. When more people came in and demanded to join my group for buffs and for me to make a solo group, I stated that "I am only doing heals, no buffs or solo group. Healing only." Again, my words fell on deaf ears, so I stopped dancing once we were healed up and went AFk to grab some food. When I got back, I had a bunch of tells to make a solo group and do buffs.

Funny thing was, I had my Master Entertainer title on.

The part I dont like the most ... is when I am out doing something else (like hunting) I get tells to come to so and so to buff people. Alot of times they want me to travel great distances just to buff them and they are very rude about it.

Honestly ... I dont mind the buff bots so much ... they take all those rude people and I can focus on the people that want live entertainment and fun. When I am in Bestine there are normally a few of us live ... and people know they can come to one of us. If a person is rude about asking for buffs I charge em alot. Seeing as I can demand money before they get a group or setperform.

I have also been told my people they perefer buff bots because they are more professional then live entertainers ... which I find rather sad. They prefer their buffs from buff bots.

Whats worse ... is as a Master Dancer ... when I need a buff ... I always try for live ents ... and most of the time I cant get one. It bites we cant buff ourselves.

It took me five weeks to get my Master Dancer title, with only a total of 40 mins AFK, so I am very proud to wear the title. I have a few regular people who come to me for buffs and the number is increasing as the word gets around that if I am there, then I am atk.

However I will switch to my TKM title if I am being hassled, just asa warning that I can take care of myself.

I enjoy mind buffing and if anyone is less than polite in requesting one, I suggest they ask me nicely and I will be happy to.

LOL, I may have to start pulling out my pistols on rude people or get rifleman and carry a huge T21. Although dancing with my stun baton is fun, especially whenI feelI need toswitch to my fencing title to stifle comments. The baton is not just for decoration, I can use it... a lot, effectively.

"Are you a fencer?"

"No, I just like to carry a baton and wear a fencing title."

"Seriously?"

I wear mine about 50% of the time, for two reasons I guess.

First -- if I'm dancing, I'm ATK, and I don't mind buffing. I might drop a smarta$$ed remark if someone demands one, but I'll usually do it if they don't get all huffy and storm out. If they do, I usually laugh myself silly and carry on.

Second -- they haven't fixed the darn no-title bug yet. :/ If I'm roleplaying somewhere, I'll probably turn it off, but otherwise I leave it on. If I don't, it automatically throws up my Master Armorsmith tag when I log in, which bugs me, as I don't want that up -- I'm dropping that soon, and get sick of all the uncomprehendable tells where I can't tell if someone is trying to buy RIS from me, or sell me components.

So yep. I wear mine. I've mastered dance three times on the same char -- I'm darn proud of my title and all the perks and benefits that come with it!!

....oh wait. There aren't any. Oh well! XD

About the only time I show a title is when I forget to turn it off at log in. Seems like the darned thing will save the setting for any title EXCEPT No Title. If someone is coming in the Cantina specifically looking FOR a Master Dancer then its generally for a Buff.

As far as doing Buffs, I dont. We fought a long hard battle with buffbots and from my perspective... Lost.

Since they're allowed and rewarded I figure they are the approved source for buffs. People seldom bother to tip for buffs and are generally rude about them. They see you as a buff vending machine and not as a person. That kind of clientele I'm perfectly happy to do without.

There's really only the Exotics and Popular that we can use in general due to drift, and since we're normally grouped so one's one personal BF/Wound healing is not that much of an issue. The guys that come in for nothing but BF healing and then run back out the door without speaking as soon as its gone are, again, not a clientele to speak of.

So... without Buffs to worry about and with BF being a secondary affect of our dancing the title of Master Dancer really only has meaning to ME. I know I am one so what difference does it make if anyone else knows?

With those issues put aside, I can concentrate on talking to people (when we're not spammed to death which is increasingly more common), entertaining, trying out a new humor routine, flirting, and otherwise enjoying socializing with the people that are actually there.

Thats my take on it.

You've all exemplified the reasons that I'd like to see us take advantage of our revamp opportunity to re-define ourselves. I'd like to see us create a new niche for ourselves in the game. Something that turns our in game time from being our daily shift as a buff vending machine toactivitiesthatare about our fun.

I have worn my master dancer title since I mastered it back in I think september 03. I rarely get buff requests these days, despite dancing daily, but that may be related to dancing on Tatooine, where not many buff-addicts hunt or get ready.

Yesterday I finally made a macro for mind buffs, if one can call "/alarmAddIn 0 2 Two minutes past;" followed by 100 lines of flourishes and /pause 2 that, so I can do the occasional buff without hitting my flourish hotkeys like crazy, as I did before.

I do not see much of a problem with buff requests.

Ramona maybe its just me, but when the average buff seeker walks in with 'Need buff' and then stands there waiting.... ain't gonna happen.

Or the Polite ones that will actually Interact with you. They're the ones who walk up, generally half on top of while you're dancing and start sending you Tells 'You buffing?"

Or the ones who come to the stairs and start spamming 'Who'se buffing?'

Or 'Need invite to ent grp for a buff.'

In the few weeks I've been back on Eclipse and in the cantina I have yet to see ONE person walk in and Speak directly to a Dancer as if she were a human being and actually use a Complete Sentence to discuss the issue of buffing.

I prominently added a line to my bio that says

No. I Dont buff so dont ask. Go find an SOE sanctioned and approved buffbot.

They never bother to read it.

So as for me... I'll pass on the whole thing for now.
