that point doesnt apply to Dancers though. Dancers dont have to spend any money to make thier buffs or buy supplies. You would never see a smuggler slicing for free.

This is where most people are mistaken, so I understand the confusion. Actually, Entertainers do spend money on a lot of things. In order to buff effectively, they must either have a Quickness buff or a bottle of Accarragm, both of which can cost money. Thankfully, most ents are pretty nice to each other and supply these to each other willingly.

Oh...and I have sliced for free...thanks.

Second...people dont want to have to go to one planet for buffs and then to another planet for dancer buffs.

This is just plain laziness, sorry, but that's the truth of the matter.

Im not taking away from another dancers business unless he or she is in the same cantina in the same outpost or town as me.

Actually, yes you are. If there is a known bot, say, in the Mining Outpost on Dantooine, everyone goes there. Even if there is a live buffer in Theed, they still go to the bot because they are either too lazy to go elsewhere, don't think about using a live ent over a bot, or else are just conditioned to use the bot and even when a live ent is there, walk past anyway. I know, this exact thing has happened to me, I have been passed by for bots, and I have seen it happen to MANY other live ents offering buffs for free.

Quotd from a response on the SmugglerForum:

He's starting to sound less like a guy with a "wife" who wants to AFK, and more like a guy who wants to set up a buff bot, but that's just the way he's appearing with his arguments here.

Ok...well, I'm not going to flame you anymore Cryosis.

The problem is that there are a lot of people like yourself (I mean, a LOT) who don't understand how much bots have ruined the entertainer professions. And, I agree with Dathora that it's too bad that people jump down other people's throats when they come onto the dancer forums asking for help in creating a bot. (I tend to get defensive myself too, but I try not to be.)

Dathora and to a lesser extent, myself, tried to explain it in a nice way by trying to make a comparison to what it would be like for smugglers if there were a smuggler bot.

Unfortunately, our patience runs thin these days because we've had to deal with bots ruining our professions for well over a year now.

Our tempers are short and our tolerance is low. I'm sure you're a nice person in real life. But, when you refuse to see the truth for what it is, and don't want to just think outside the box about what it would be like for smugglers if this had happened to them, then the flaming starts up because we know you're a lost cost.

So, I'm not going to flame you anymore. But, at least try to think about what it would be like for you if this was your profession and people had done this to you, and you could no longer make a living smuggling anymore. And, then, hopefully, it'll "click" for you and you'll realize how harmful botting is for every live dancer on every server.

Im cool with it. Like I said I am not going to argue this anymore. I see your points but I do still have a different opinion. As it stands my wife isnt going to make a macro. She will just buff when she is there.

As for Cendatinea I wasnt trying to be rude to you. I saw your post on my smuggler thread before the one on the Dancer thread. By then I had already read a couple of hostile replies and that made yours and everybody's after sound hostile to me. And I apologize for returning that hostility to you.

I can't speak for Dancers, but I have a good friend who is a Doc and she is very protective about her macro for buffing people. It's not so much for the actual commands as the patter she has developed to go along with the buff, which is kind of cool. This is run live btw, not afk. I can't speak for this person, but it might be a matter of her working hard on the macro and not wanting to share it, which I can understand. I don't agree with it, I've written macros which I freely share and have used others macros such as the faction macros that turn up here from time to time.

As for the AFK/bot issue, I think it's going to be moot. I seem to recall reading that the devs are going to nerf recursive macros completely.

it isn't about spending money for supplies. And lets face it smugglers don't spend a lot on there's either. I first saw this in the smuggler boards but since it's really and entertainer issue figured I'd respond here.

But it's more about the time spent grinding for those that don't do it afk you know it's a long drawn our proccess as dancer or musician. And also about what the person actually gets for there money. Considering the money it can save on brandy and so on as well. And for tips I usually get like 2-5k on average or whatever people charge. And trust me people don't feel ripped off when they pay it.

Honestly if you'd asked me for a looping dance or music macro I would have probably given it to you since I've pretty much gotten over the afk bot crap since I don't see it getting solved anytime soon. And for the most part I could care less about tips anymore since you won't ever make a really good living just from dancing or music anyway. But the one thing that drives me up the wall is AFK SPAM. Or any entertainer spam for that matter. And unfortunately afk bots pretty much have to do that to get people to invite them to there group. But do you know how annoying that is to be dancing in the cantina all day and have to constantly hear one person going "invite me for buffs" ALL DAY LONG? And yes I do add ignore eventually but not only does it annoy me and other entertainers, it also bugs the crap out of the people coming in and out of the cantina. The fact is though this afk grinding and afk buff bot and spamming is an ugly part of the entertainer world now. And it seemed to have started from the holo grind and has gotten progressively worse as time goes on. People want that master tag right now and forget that the whole point of the entertainer gig is to chat with people and interaction. Without that what's the point in being an ent anyway?

Sorry just my 2 credits. I won't jump on you because 1. it's redundant and gets no one anywhere. and 2. It doesn't sound like you get what's it's like on this side of the fence anyway and all the shouting in the world won't change that.

/sigh

Ok...let's say a smuggler bot bought whatever supplies he needed and only charged enough to make up the money that it took for him to buy those supplies and then every other slice and FP selling was given away for free 24/7 by the bot.

Think outside of the box here. We know it's not possible for a smuggler bot to do this. But, what we're asking you is, WHAT IF it was. WHAT IF your profession worked like the dancer profession did and you could no longer sell your goods or services because people always went to the bot?

What if people said to you, "I like the smuggler bots, because I no longer have to search around?" or "We need smuggler bots because we can't find a smuggler when we need them." Or, "I don't want to have to travel to another planet when I can just go to the smuggler bot."

Jeez. It does not matter if you personally think you are not doing anything to real dancers. The fact of the matter is, you ARE. And, please, I'm hoping that you can comprehend this very simple analogy. Because if you respond to this post with something stupid and assinine because you don't have the mental capacity to understand what I'm saying, then I'm going to stop being nice because you're irritating the hell out of me.

Holy hell, I just realized I could make steve do something like this O_O Set him up at a recruiter to delegate faction out to whoever tipped him the right amount... Could work if setup at the bottom of a heavily garded PvE base I think
