Thread: IF the devs remove macros this is what they should do

What the developers really need to do is to make the game so much fun that no one wants to afk macro.
Imagine a game like this:
"I could afk macro while I am at school, but if I do, I am going to miss X, Y, and Z, and I do not want to miss those things, so instead of afk macroing, I am going to wait until I get home from school and actually play at the keyboard."
I know this was already said, but it bears repeating.
A system to reward ATK over AFK is doomed to fail for one reason - all you do is encourage them to be ATK when they play, which they very well may already do. The problem is when they don't play they are all AFK still. The reason is? ATK may be made more rewarding, but AFK is still infinately more rewarding than logging out.
To understand how to get people not to be AFK, try simple behaviorism. Behavior is a function of the consequences. In this case, the consequence is more xp without any work. That just encourages more of the AFK macroing. As long as there is a reward for doing it, people will do it. W the reward is xp, credits, thanks from guild members, whatever... As long as there is a reward people will still do it.
I'm all for making the class more interesting and more exciting and all that.. But I don't want people under the pretence that it will suddenly make people stop doing AFK performances. As long as there is a reward, however small, people will still do it. The only way to stop people from doing it is getting rid of any reward (Including thanks from guild members) or even institute negative reward (Punitive action against the account).
FFWB you are a big idoit.
This has been the only post I made this fourm beside 3 months ago.
Are you always this stupid, it must be that 56k line![]()
As long as people gain by being AFK, they will do it. Until there is a loss that they care about from being AFK, they will do it. Encouraging ATK play will fix nothing as long as AFK play is still being encouraged as well. And it is being encouraged right now - you can gain experience AFK, that's all the encouragement people need to do it.
>The rewards for being at the keyboard need to be substantially better than those for AFK.
And in my oppinion they are ![]()
But the real problem are people AFKing 24/7, so what we would need is to make logging out more rewarding that staying logged in. And that is hard to do. The easiest way would be to make unattended gameplay in all forms an EULA violation. Many games follow this path.

That is a VERY good way to state it. I like that. Doesn't come up with a solution, but I still like the wording. ![]()
