Thread: Why I won't buff

Tipping IS an obligation. I think it's even considered as suchin the manual.

A tip is a gift to the service provider. Most of the time, a tip is given as a percentage of the original payment. In europe for example, tipping the waitress 10% of what you had to pay is considered a normal to generous tip. If there is no price, people don't tip.

Have you ever tipped a McDonalds worker ?

I will buff people. But I have a long list of l33t PvP kiddies who insulted me in the past. Ironic how those are the ones who need the buffs now

"Maybe dancing just isn't your gig."

Talk about blaming the victim. Dancing IS my gig. Being vilified for it is not.

That might be right. Another point is that is is significantly easier to tip someone you have to pay anyway. I mean in RL, who do you tip ? Waiters, delivery boys, pizza service... did you ever tip someone who didn't charge something in the first place ? I haven't.

How many credits are you asking for a mind buff before you /setperform? I had someone tip me 230 credits then demand it yesterday. I told him I didn't know how. 8 minutes of constant flourishing for 230 credits? Forget it. I can interact with other customers and they will tip more for the acknowledgment. On the other hand, I wouldn't feel right asking for a set amount. I guess what I am really asking, is what is it worth to you?

If I gave buffs, I wouldn't do it for under 1000 credits.

Beery "ridiculed for my lack of interest in killing people"

I got so tired of this one! I dance with a sword, ryyk blade to be exact, so often that it has become known as my trademark. I've had people come up and challenge me as a joke. Well I got fed up with it and took up one hand sword. I am now a Fencer (since it uses the same basic stats as a dancer this works great for me) and when someone thinks I don't know how to use that blade I show them that I do. I may lose but since they didn't actually expect me to know what Iam doing it is usually a close fight. hehe sometimes I even win and unless they are total jerks I refrain from deathblowing.

"...but you can bet if I find a prong off of a plastic fork in my nachos again I will not tip (and yes I know it is not the fault of the waiter/waitress..."

Wow. So you don't tip even if something bad happens that is beyond the control of the server. I'd say that says a lot about you, none of it good.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

Actually the reason I did not tip was because the waitress looked at me like I was lying, rolled her eyes, andsaid, "That is not possible we don't us plastic." All because I had the audacity to complain about something that I choked on. Yes choked on...I didn't see it in the food I felt it in my throat. Her attitude is why she did not recieve a tip.

Well then I apologize, Serendipity. As a server, your other post left a really bad taste in my mouth, because I am often held accountable for things that are beyond my control, and since I am paid a measly $2.65 an hour, I depend on tips to live on.

Sounds like you've had a particularly bad experience with your customers for a prolonged time Beery. I don't know if you've just been unlucky or what.

Personally, I've never had to worry about money-making from /tips as I'm an architect too. BUT I could easily of gotten by on what I earned in /tips. Even before the latest patch with the new buffs came out, I'd get requests to come to so backend of nowhere planet to heal people's BF/MWs. Best I ever got was 25k just for turning up, then I got tipped too!

Perhaps I've been getting all your luck Beery

I buff for free. I don't expect tips, infact Ive tip back money to new players telling them they need it more and that the thanks was enough.

Being a solo player most of the time, dancing gives me a chance to meet people and see old friends.
