Dancer Archive
Thread: this has probly been said a million times but we need more dances for males
A more typical game solution would be to just have separate but equal anims for each sex (I think that's where the weirdness comes in, not only are these the same dance moves, they are the exact same anims... that's just weird... it's not a normal industry thing to do). In this case, it looks like they made one set of dance anims and used the normal process for making female animations skipping the male animation process completely.
Believe me, I don't want to see male dancers nerfed. I just want you boys to look as good as you can.
This late into the game, perhaps the best solution would be to just add "male" anims that everyone could choose to use. Meaning using the animating process usually used for male characters and this time skipping females, just to balance it out. (which is the reason why I was talking about the rl differences in moves and technique earlier in the thread)
On the other hand, since this thread I was told a rumor that we would be getting real separate animations for males and females. I have no idea if it is true and I don't know if they would be the exact same "moves" or something taking into account real life differences in male and female dance moves.
My guess was always that they did the female anims first for testing and just never got around to adding the male anims. If that was the case, it would just be normal to fix it when the new dances are added. After all, we have separate /sit anims for the sexes... I think this is just as important for male dancer anims if not more so because we are so visual based.
Hmm...resurrected thread... ![]()
Panthu, if you find this and read it again, I do agree with you to some extent, and I totally understand what you're saying. But, I still, personally think the male dancers look great when they're doing all of these dances. I don't see them as looking feminine. But, if SWG were to add some of these more masculine dances that you suggested (which I would love!), then they would still have to be added for the women to dance as well.
As it stands now, men and women can't really do partner dances. It's not like they have the 'tango' where one is obviously the male (generally the lead) and one style is more female. So unless they add that into the game (which again, I would love!), we all have to have the same dances. How else would we be able to synchronize our moves during a performance? How would we be able to /bandflo?
Again, I would love to see more dances, and more masculine dances, and I now see where you're coming from with the masculine dances. But, I definitely don't want to see dances relegated to only female or only male. To this day, I stillenjoy watching the males doing the exotics and lyrical2.
ha!

What would've been worse is if they worked on the male animations first and forced those on us fems. That... just would've been wrong

Hey I'm a male dancer on Bloodin. Actually, I'm a Master Musician, Master Entertainer and Dancer 4-2-4-3 (damn the healing XP!) lol. I've done about 90 percent of it at the keyboard and I have no plans of dropping the final template I've planned which includes:
Master M, Master D, Master E, Medic 4-4-1-1 = 0 skill points
I've done a ton of hologrinding on Ahazi with no Jedi and was beginning to get burned out a lot after 24 mastered professions, but doing this on Bloodfin has made the game fun for me all over again :-)

The day that male-specific anims are put in, without the choice of using which ones I want to use, will likely be the day I give up this profession.
I have no knowledge of any anims being taken away... we will be getting our new dances soon (yay!) so I believe we'll all be able to diversify our old routines a lot more. ![]()
I know RM had male specific issues on one of our old lists. I'll drudge that up and look at all the comments from back then again. I would like to see this taken to the devs as a non-critical issue, but I'll make sure to stress that male dancers don't want less options. ![]()
I don't thinkfewer options were ever mentioned as anyone's plans, but I'll try to get some official word on this over the next few publishes.

How about lord of the dance?I can't help but think of the "Lord of the Dance" belt from that when I see a trim lined shirt.
Oh me too! We need a reel and hard shoes with clicks to boot!
That would liven up a quiet cantina! ![]()
