Firstly, many of the entertainers who post on this forum have never afk macroed with their characters.
Secondly, there is a huge difference between having done it sometimes and making a habit of it (I can't say that I've never smoked a cigarette. I smoked one once when I was really drunk. Yet I highly doubt I'll have the same lung experience as a habitual smoker).
Thirdly, there is a difference between those who did afk macro before, but have chosen to change due to the effect on the game, and those who flaunt the fact that they afk macro, despite what anyone else says about the harm it can bring. See this thread.
These people are not in glass houses.
Paks requested the thread be limited to live players. You don't have to listen. These are public forums. Paks doesn't deserve to be taunted though for having a specific topic in mind for this thread.
And this #1 #2 thing is really making me giggle.

1. The Bartender/Therapist. This type of entertainer gets the most joy out of their profession by socially interacting with the customer. They enjoy witty banter, jokes, listening to the customers' problems, and various other social interaction.
2. The Performer. This type of of entertainer gets the most joy from actually putting on shows. They use sync dancing, music band flourishes, instruments, and costumes in an attempt to put on the most interesting show possible.
3. The Healer/Buffer. This type of entertainer enjoys being part of the overall economic and interdependent SWG universe and game mechanics.
Any other thoughts on the roles of entertainers?
I am a Master Dancer. I proudly display my Master Dancer tag. I have some Pikeman and Carbine skills, and I have enough skill points for Master Pikeman, so I guess that would make me a Performer/Fighter.
I have a couple poems and songs set up as macros so I can entertain while dancing. (Shakespeare and Barry White rulemy cantina!!)
I enjoy PvP and would have preferred to have UBER combat skills, but I became a Dancer because my guild had several Master Musicians, but zero Dancers. I sometimesplant my 'toon in the guild cantina if I will be AFK - and my guild has requested my services as healer/buffer.
But for the most part, I do not frequent the cantinas as a way to make a living. I do not rely on tips from other players for my survival. I gladly make appointments for mind-buffing when other players send me tells - if the price is right and if they treat me with the same respect I give them. I have traveled across all planets to buff players I do not know - with the only agreement being, "Meet in this city's cantinain XX minutes, I will bring a group and we will all pay 5k credits each." I was pleasantly surprised when some of them tipped me twice (or more) than what we agreed upon.
If one wishes to participate in PvP or any semblance of a GCW, I don't think the game allows you to use a pure entertainer profession.
If you choose to exist outside the cantinas, you can only master one entertainer profession, and then you must commit to other skill trees. I got frustrated one night and decided that the devs ruined Dancer buffs with the introduction of Vasarian Brandy. I felt that I needed to make a ton of cash, so I started dropping Dancer and was going to go BE/Chef. For some reason, I kept the Entertainment Healing trees. I am glad I did...once I came to my senses I decided my first love was the Dancer profession and that I would NEVER drop it, no matter how tantalizing big money, or Jedi becomes.
I clone a lot.
I do not rule PvP, but I derive a great deal of satisfaction in charging into battle with a Master Dancer tag and bumping off members of the opposing faction (no matter how infrequently that happens).
I do not hide in a group and then attack when the one overt member of my group attacks, I declare my faction proudly (and usually clonequickly). The most DBs I have ever dished out at one time was 3. I got lucky.
I have been sent to the cloning facility so many times in one battle that it lowered my Rebel FP to 7.I still fought, I still PvP'd, I did not send nasty tells saying,[for example] "I didn't have the right weapon!"or "Nice job loser! Noobs always attack mind!"
As a Master Dancer, I expect to never make Jedi, and to never rule PvP. But right now, my Master Dancer (Waun of Ahazi) is sitting on Endor, overt, unbuffed, and ready for action...cloning or otherwise. Come get me - I stored my clone information as soon as I arrived on planet.
That's just the way it is for a wandering Dancer.
I'm also a performer. If a gentleman wants a private dance, I give him a private dance (very clean and no ugly talk. I don't go for that and don't do that on the game. Only with my IRL husband). If a troupe wants to shake that thang, I shake my thang (be glad when I get my chat server up and running so everybody can talk IRL). I'd love to be a part of a travelling troupe and go professional in that aspect.
I'm also a healer/buffer although this part of it is still a bit confusing for me. But the smoke is most definitely clearing thanks, in large part, to all you really nice people out there answering my n00b questions.

I'm a #1, 2 & 4, I start off with a macro depending on what type of dance I do,Exotic macrohas flourishes 1-3colored lights, dazzle, distractions, dance changes from exotic 2,3,4. Or the same thing for the non-exotic routinesbut with flo's 1-8, and all the effects.
That leaves me to concentrate on flirting, (No licking...I used to, but got out of it) with just about everyone, or as I say to them. "Why limit myself to half the population?" I talk to them if flirting don't work, I read up on quests and use those as rumors to steer newcomers to. I ask what bring them to the cantina, and at times, listen to their problems. And since I'm a roleplayer, and I do this all In Character, I have about 80% of my customers repling IC which makes it for a fun time, to the point I oftendance, talke and flirt four straight hours. Main thing, I got regulars, people thatsearch me outto watch and talk to me, I love being a dancer on SWG.
This is me! I LIVE to flirt in this game![]()
I would love to be more a 2 but spend too much time on 1 lol
I am a 3 - but mostly to buy my #3 habits
Ky'a - Master Dancer, Master Musician, Master ent
Theed/Lowca
Mostly 3 with some of 2, taking or leaving 1 as needed.
Healing/buffing is my *job* and entire purpose for being there, everything else is secondary, though the way I enjoy my job is through cobbling together flourishes / lights / pets /droids / etc. to look appealing or be amusing.
