How do you know the length of time it will take to buff I used to think it was 8 mins but I see it happning a lot quicker these days?

A full 2-hourentertainer buff is 120 flourishes. There are a few other modifiers, but the number of flourishes has the greatest weight in the calculation.
The optimum rate is 5 flourishes per 8 second pause. (Flourishing more often is wasted effort.)
From here on, it's just a matter of simple math... 120 / 5 = 24 sets of 5 flourishes... so 24 * 8 seconds = 192 seconds (or 3 minutes 12 seconds minimum time). Give it a few extra flourishes/seconds padding (I use a 200 second timer) and you are set.
