I don't know exactly when it happened because it doesn't seem to be listed in any patch notes, but it must have been around the first week in August 2003. That was the time when the developers made entertainer mission terminals useless by making missions payout only 200cr and by removing off-planet missions. In my opinion this did more to kill the entertainment professions than anything else, including buffbots and AFK play (partially because it had the effect of discouraging entertainer travel and thusencouraging such play).

I think Drygo said they used to pay around 2k? I'm not really sure, it was more though.
I can find the date for the "nerf", it was my first big freak out. O.o

04-21-2004 - Added two minute watch requirement to buffs and fifteen second delay to restart Dancing after stopping in effort to stamp out the "speed buff" exploit many live Dancers were using to compete with Bots and any future exploits targeting our same weak points in our code again. Not really fixing the code though.
Has created numerous Bugs that have made Dancers functionality further hampered in an already tedious system. Zero bugs from this exploit "fix" have been resolved to date.

That's when it hit TC I think. Not sure on Pub date.

If I said that, I think I must have been delusional. LOL
I don't remember them paying that much, but it's been a long time. I seem to remember, however, that they used to pay around 300-400 credits maybe? I say this because at first I was just taking missions haphazardly, and realizing that for the time and shuttle trips I was only making a profit of like 50 credits or something. That's when I decided to start deleting the missions and retaking them until I got some in the same city. That way I didn't have to take shuttles, and I could at least take in 300-400.
I think....
Now, of course, they're around 100 and you actually lose money unless you have them in the same city.

Don't forget the publish that added the effects and playback droids. Also, there's the lovely publish that 'nerfed' IDers with the timers (but at least they could get spam requested for stat migrations.)

If you can list approximate dates (even just month/year), that'd be great. Also, while I understand IDers have deep issues, I'm mostly dealing with the performance professions here (musician and dancer). Not to belittle ID issues, but they are very different from ours.

"Did missions pay more before that nerf?"
Yes. They didn't pay much, but you could take a couple of assignments off planet, do 'em both, and you'd usually have some profit - one mission wouldn't pay for the trip, but if you combined them it was a good way to get around. Even then we were asking for the missions to pay more, but instead they stopped us travelling and made mission payouts less. That's how we got where we are today.

Regarding the 'prenerf' missions, I never saw one above 400 cr. But then I haven't been able to complete one at that time anyway. (Except for the one given by a Rebel-NPC who ordered me to play for some Rebel Officers at the Imperial Outpost on Dantooine... (in the detention center?))
Echinacea recently posted a nice timeline of changes, especially older ones, but I haven't been able to find the thread
Update: Hah, I found her message here
(the "cookie" thread) but it doesn't contain the release dates, my bad memory. But maybe it helps nailing down the dates anyway.

August 13, 2003: Weird hand-animated flourishs added.
The community's opinion
PS: Apparently, /register was added with the same patch (and even mostly working as there were no player cities at that time).

August 23, 2003: Holo announces the addition of /denyservice, which only about half the entertainers on these boards actually liked (at least that's how I remember the discussions).
He also talks about "More dances, more instruments, more songs, more flourishes, more effects. These are things we will add throughout the life of the game." an makes a refence to a different thread on "the issue of money earning".
/denyservice went live on Sept 4, 2003
Now I gotta stop reading those old posts before I get too depressed...

9-01-2004: Public butclosed testing of JTL begins.
9-03-2004(approximate): Dancers in testing discover new motion captured flourishes have been added. Filling out all dances but the exotics.
10-21-2004: The ground portion of publish 11(JTL) goes live along with the new flourishes.
No dev post, comment, or noteis ever made regarding this new content, perhaps the first positive addition to Dancer in almost a year, from 9-01-2004 and since.
