Thread: Well, I didn't get the new dance...

It's obvious that the quest like our dances is bugged. This was never tested properly on TC and what feedback was given was ignored. The DEVs have once more shown they really aren't qualified for their jobs.

After I failed again this morning, I went back to the theater manager, and after she told me I had to wait yet another 24 hours, I told her "F*** off." Then, I went back out to the audience and screamed, "ALL YOU MOFOS WOULDN'T KNOW TALENT IF IT WERE CRAMMED UP YOUR ASS!"

LOL!!

Perusing through the boards really quick before I go for a run, I was grimacing thinking about whatrecent bad news I would see regarding dancer stuffies.

I know this was said in frustration, but it made me laugh so! I was trying to imagine Drygo saying this (where he is normally kind and polite) and I couldn't stop laughing...thinking of him running up, holding his hands over his head and yelling this at the masses! LOL LOL

Seeing as how this quest is being a booger for so many, I am skittish about even attempting it now.

Anyhoo....thanks for making me smile.

Drygo is almost always a sweeite, but I've seen how he can get all nasty with people on the Kett boards, so I can imagine him saying this. I almost wish I had been there to see it! My musician just failed her second show, but that's because the stupid prats in the audience wouldn't get off of that damn neutral statement no matter what I did. Oh well...

Drygo.. wanna go on an audience lynch with me sometime soon?

Ooh... guess I should add one more thing. There is a chance that the quests had the opportunity for additional bugs to be introduced. There was mention at a late stage that the code governing the selection of dances that would be requested by the Judges and the audience was altered to exclude the Formals and Lyricals, as the larger traveling distances were sometimes taking dancers too close to the edge of the stage, and thus getting the Failed message (for leaving the stage during the performance). It is possible that the introduction of those changes may have let new bugs slip in on occasion where the audience does not request a certain dance.

I personally never experienced this, but there have been recent reports that players have been getting no help from the audience, so I include this as a possible bug.

To check this - be sure that you've /conversed with every audience member, from the stage, using my suggestion in the previous post. Be mindful that sometimes audience members spawn in behind where you've already covered in your shmoozing, and go back and get those new additions as well. Never hurts to keep /conversing during the performance, to be certain.

All that said, if there is an occasional bug where you're absolutely certain that you've /conversed with each and every audience member, but they still give you no "good" dance, file an in game /bug report on it.

I don't know what you're talking about...*halo*

But, audience lynching sounds fun...I'm also about to bust out the battle axe and leave a trail of bloody bot corpses around Kettemoor.

PS In case anyone's wondering, I've been a bit...on edge...recently...

I found the key was to flourish 50% of the flourishes the ones they like and 50% of the flourishes the ones they don't dislike. This got me to Very Satisfied every time.

After repeated failures (first one I forgot to /conv the crowd, but got 2 for not being on the stage but I wasat the center of the stage), this quest makes the village exitquest (which was bugged for me) look like a breeze.

Also please make sure you choose the correct quest. I was distracted in rl when starting and clicked dancer even thru I was planning to go for the new song only.
But unfortunately I couldn’t figure out after how to quit the quest and I had to finish the dance in order to start on the song.
Totally my fault but I figured I'll warn you.

I've failed for the third time now... I think I'm giving up. I had a good friend offer to try it for me, I may let her do it, she got her dancer through it no problem. I'm wondering if lag is contributing to my not being able to finish the quest. *shrug*

Here is a question, since novice dancer can take the quest and it is a scroll in your inventory can you trade it? If there is someone just grinding FS experience with less lag issues perhaps they could complete the quest and give the scroll to a real entertainer who doesn't mind spending the XP to learn it.

Fushia, this is probably pretty obvious, but what theatre are you doing the quest out of? Avoid the Coro and Theed theatres like the plauge.

Ok, so I finally got the new dance tonight. Go Me.

Taking a step back, I would still agree with the two things I've been saying all along. First, I *did* enjoy this quest. And, even though this may seem weird to people, I actually enjoyed the promotionalpart a lot. It was fun having a "purpose" to try to engage the audience. I didn't spam for anyone to watch me, not even once. Although, I do admit that on the last "leg" of promotion, I got some guild members and /ent chat people to help me out. But, the vast majority of it was done through random watchers at the starport and the Dant MO. It was decent challenge to get people to actually want to watch me just for the sake of watching. Oddly enough, I got about 5 times more watchers in places that were *not* in the Cantinas. I also did enjoy the performances for the most part, they were kinda nervewracking, kinda tense, and that was all good. I enjoyed having a reason to hang out in the theater with other entertainers, them helping me with the quest, and me helping them. Theaters have been underutilized, and I enjoyed actually performing on stage. My only real worry with this is...what if a band or troupe wants to put on a performance in an NPC theater? That might cause problems for people who want to do the quest. I suppose that's neither here or there at the moment because nobody actually ever does that. But, it's something I really have wanted to do but never had time to organize such a thing.

At any rate, the one thing I did NOT enjoy is the 24 hour gating. I just don't see the point. This quest is to get new things to add to our repertoire. We're not getting uber loot. The new song and dance is not actually benefitting us in any way mechanically. I just think it's completely unnecessary, not to mention frustrating. I really wish they would remove this part of the quest. I mean, I don't joke when I say it is down right *maddening.* So, I would give the devs a hesitant thumbs up on this quest, but would be more willing to be more firm about this thumbs up if they'd get rid of the gating--especially because you're not always given all the information you need to pass.

I got lucky. After 3 failures on the first performance, I breezed through the rest of it...but, only because I was given decent information from then on out. I almost think the first performance might even be the hardest because there are so few audience members, so you have less chance of getting good information., as well as the fact, that you have less time to make the audience satisfied. I've also heard countless people having incredible trouble just getting past performance #1, and then they breeze through the last two, just like I did. I'm sure that's not supposed to be that way. I mean, I would imagine one would want it to get more difficult as it went along. But, it seems like it was just the opposite, at least for me.

As for the dance, as I said in another thread, I am not too fond of the base, although I really do like the flourishes. Of course, it sucks that the base dance is broken, and it would be very hard to choreograph people sync dancing because it takes up so much space, just like lyrical and formal. I mean, theatrical has the exact same problems as lyrical and formal...broken base dance, and the difficulty to choreograph because it moves you all over the place. A tight knit troupe would end up on opposite sides of the Cantina by the time you were done, and that's just...messy.

So, to sum up. I really did enjoy this quest. But, the problems I see...24 hour timer, base dance broken, and extreme difficulty in choreography. (And, possibly, lack of being able to use theaters for live bands and performances).

Well, just last night there was a potential conflict on Tempest, in the Theed theater. Some people are putting together a play, I think it's called "Jealousy of a Zabrak," and they are rehearsing and will presumably perform it in the theater. The cast members actually started to arrive just as I finished my second performance in the quest, but I logged shortly after that (otherwise, I would've stayed on to take on a part in the play as a chorus member ). When I get back in game, I'll contact the people involved and see if they've had conflicts, and how they've been resolved. My thought is that for the most part, conflicts, should they occur, will be handled gracefully by both parties.
It'll probably be a bit before I really get good game time though .
