Thread: Dancer Stalkers
I am positively surprised by how many people first ask me if they can put me on their friends list or not. There are many polite people in this game. Stalking fortunately hasn't been a big issue for me until now. It happened a few times, but in the worst case I onlyhad to askone of my friends to talk to the person in question.
Anyway, not everybody is nice. I just commited the terrible crime of returning a 100cr tipfor which Icurrentlyget publicly lynched on the Gorath forum. *sighs*.
Stalked, I have been. It is no fun and also won't do any good to someone else if you just /ignore.
Also I have been sexually harassed,
Although you may say what am I doing to cause this, prolly playing too much. I wear a different awry of things, from white and pink crafter pants and a small bustier to ball gowns to an 80's get up to exotic leotards to noble skirts and short sleeved shirts. So I don't think it would be the clothes.
The post I made about 2 guys sexually harrassing me and one guy that chipped in to just bug me, made a big mess on the Valcyn boards. Don't sit there and take the sexual harrassment or just /ignore doesn't help the next person in line! Do something about it! /report Or even just hit up the local galaxy baords and say something, most of the guys doing this are little boys thinking since they can't get away with it in RL then tehy can here, no they can't, and I won't let them, will you help me help everyone else?
(ooc
Yes, reporting is the way to go if it becomes unconsensually abusive or out of character. There is also a difference between consensual roleplaying and unconsensual roleplaying. Afteryou send somebody an ooc /tell asking the person to stop and he/she goes on andit is too bad tosimply ignore,it is IMHO fully justified to send it straight to the /report pipeline. I'd prefer us players having a means to enforce some sort of player justice ourselves, but as it is now the game masters are the only authority. Well, I want to stress that I consider the ooc warning kinda important since we shouldn't punish people who actually roleplay a difficult personality or who simply overreact in the cantina environment. There should never be an atmosphere of fear where real roleplayers are afraid ofbeing reported to authorities.A player shouldn't beblackmarkedbeforeknowing thathe/she offended another player. Well, my take on the issue. I hope I haven't bored anybody with it :-)
happend to me, had to delete character, and SOE did nothing about it, he had his friends stalk me too
It may sound drastic, but you can always move. /report (never works) As far as finding you, Ranger's can track you up to certain distances. lol, I'd say the best thing to do is just /ignore. That's just me though. If you let it get to you, you're giving the person exactly what they want. Eventually they go away. (in my cases anyway) It still is annoying and uncomfortable anyway. Probably won't work in all cases, but I paid someone off once to never talk to me again. (yes its dumb, but it worked
) Then again, not too many dancer's can come up with 200k on the spot. If you're on Starsider and ever need help, send tells. I'm more than happy to do whatever I can.

I didn't get stalked yet, but I had one guy sending me cyber tells. I put him on /ignore, then I decided to not reply in a tell, instead I said, so everyone can read it:
Sorry *Playername*, if your looking for Lap dances or Striptease, not in this cantina. If you looking for cybering, please try someone else.
I had the laughs on my side from the players that come in regulary and know me, and he had the jokes and embarresment.
Sometimes it can help to be a bit bigmouthed or simply just try to say out loud that you don't like the way the guy behaves around you (might be a surprise too if you find out that more player help you then expected).

(ooc) Sorry, but payingsuch peopleto leave you alone only makes the problem worse, albeit maybe for other people and not you. It creates an incentive for being a *censored*. Please don't do it. I know that petitioning is slow, but your communication log is usually stored with the report, so even days after your petition I think the CSR people cansee what was going on. It won't immediately help you while being harassed, but it will greatly help the community in general. Once somebody has been (rightfully) reported often enough, that person either changed his/her behavior or is no longer playing.
The only game that does the friends list right is 'Earth and Beyond'. You have option of only being seen by players on YOUR friends list. The keeps the pushy players from stalking a player they wanted to KS, bother, or get free heals from without joining group.
