Thread: Number 1 issue for Dancers?
Right now I'm leaning towards the Mind buff changes as our number 1 issue.. but you still have about an hour and a half to change my mind before I need to turn this in.
You go, Ravenmist!! As for whats-his-name, after reading the exact same cut-and-paste comments in two different threads, I think wer're onto him ![]()
Does this mean you might actually have the ear of a Power-That-Be? Could it possibly be? (prays) Could exciting times be upon us once again? Or will they decide to fix fishing or change the textures on bodysuits, or something else equally inane?

As a socializer I find it very hard to RP someone who is almost an expert dancer when she falls every 10th flourish. You can only gripe about how slippery the floor is so many times before it gets old. If there were some light at the end of the tunnel where I could see that my character would fall less it might not bother me as much, but the idea that even as a Master she will fall on her butt every 10th flourish is unappealing to me and is going to force me to KEEP RPing my "master" dancer as if she is still a bumbling novice...
OOC:
Great point about falling. I just finally reached master dancer last night and while I haven't been able to play much since then, I did notice that I still fall pretty often. And even coming up through the dance tree, it seems that you should get better and fall less as you climb. Once you're a master, you should rarely ever fall at all because that's as good as you can possibly get.
So, debating on changing my answer... that's a tough one.

There's no question that falling down at Master level is annoying. But ask yourself this: does falling down harm the overall respect and value the Dancer profession has in the community? Or is it the combination of AFK macroers and lack of tangible benefit we can offer?
I think we'll get falling addressed eventually, but from where I sit, enhancing our value to the game ought to be first priority. The additional flourishes, falling, and other issues will come in their turn. And if one fix can address several issues at once, why not?
OOC:
I think it depends on your play style. I don't dance to heal others, but to enhance my roleplaying. So my perspective is probably different. That doesn't mean it will be the opinion of the majority - more likely that it won't, but our opinions were asked for, so I gave mine. The thing that annoys me most is looking bad while I dance - be it because of falling, bad flourishes, or bad basic moves. It harms my immersion in the game. The buffs and healing are just game mechanics to methat while important, don't really affect my personal enjoyment of the game all that much.

IfI misunderstood the tone or point of your post then my appologies, but I'd be willing to bet others see the same thing I do in it and even if its intent is good,I don't think your points are. Personal opinion tho. I've got 3 characters currently, my Entertainer, my Bounty Hunter, and an artisan.. bleh. Okay, I have 2 characters I actually play.
I have to say I don't see what you find so hard about the other professions and in the end its all just a matter of time and thats all it is for any class. Perhaps others see us the same way you do and thats a shame.
If you want to start a thread on this subject I'd be happy to discuss it more, everyonelets please focus on the topic here and lets not get side tracked.
My number 1 complaintis the AFK dancers.
Whenever an 'Role-player' and a 'gamer' get into an arguement, the gamer usually ends the discussion with "You don't get EXP RPing!" Since dancers earn their experience by attracting the eye of a customer, the argument against this practice should appeal to both sides.
Why?
1. If a Master Dancer is left AFK, the lower level dancers lose healing exp. A customer wants to be healed as fast as possible, so they tend to watch the Master Dancers. "Nice show, hon, but she is faster." is a familiar quote...
2. The Cheapskates love em. If the Master Dancer is AFK, the cheap customer gets healed without the expectation of a tip. "Sorry, hon, but she is free." is another common line...
Common excuses that the proponents of AFKing say:
1. "The cantinas will be empty." That's just nonesense. I've yet to be on a major planet without a dancer around who IS playing. This only thing that will happen is that the dancer's skills will be more valuable. If players can take a shuttle to get healed by a doctor, why not a dancer?
2. "I leave the dancer here to heal my guild members." (This was a common one by double account holders.) Refer to reasons above... your 'guild' practice is hurting the play of others.
3. "It takes too long to level and too many exp points as a dancer." Oh my gosh...all a dancer has to do is use her feet and pick out an attractive birthday suit to practice her trade so it should be tough exp. (The same arguement applies to those who ask for a MIND BUFF as strong as a doctor's---you dont see many "AFK" doctors healing ya...and it's a lot more expensive to learn... these players who argue for this are trying to get a cheap doc.)
The macros should be used to for dance routines not to level up your char while you are gone to work or sleep. The players who argue otherwise only are asking you to give them a bigger exploit.
Okay, Consider this thread closed and stuff. I turned in our number one Issue. Thank you all for your feedback and please remember just because I didn't pick your issue doesn't mean I don't agree its a problem and I will probably be getting to that issue very soon.
Will post what I wrote.

Sorry ravenmist but I'm not a moron, and other professions do require planing and skill in advancing. I am a dancer, a musician and a carbiner being by far more difficult to gain skill in. I was station that if you could change the way xp is gained it might help the profession.
Sorry nobusoyurs , but your answer here incline me to think you are really a morron.
I play this game very long even some time in beta and have played nearly all professions (not BE, DE, smuggler).
Let us look on tailor as a crafter example:
I go to the bazaar buy fiberplast and steel. I sit down and build over and over ribbed shirts. After casual 3 I buy hide and fiberplast and build cloaks for double experience. Great skill and planing I need here.
As a fighter:
I take 2 missions follow an arrow, press some bottons and return to terminal. Wow, what a skill and planing.
By this, gaining even in fencing is much faster (except combat experience) than gaining in dancing, if you are not afk macroing in 20 person groups ins Theed.
Medic:
I go to the bazzar, buy some resources, sit in the medcenter, target a woundet player, press a button.
.... ....... .....
I thinkthis was, what Ravenmist wanted to explain you.
