Thread: Number 1 issue for Dancers?
Remuneration. How toget paid for dancing.
Deny service is a negative. Why not make it a possitive? Such as when someone clicks on WATCH or LISTEN a pop-up window comes up saying Allow Service?
this way, you know who is watching, can agree on a price or no price, and it would eliminate a lot of the AFK problem (admittedly, I am an afk dancer --- but only by request).
Keep the Deny service as a way to stop people from abusing entertainers after we click on Allow Service.
Biggest beef: Investment isn't worth the return. It takes me 106 points to get Master Dancer. For that I get a mind buff (which I have no control over who gets it, and lasts 1/6 the time of a Doctor's buff) and some minor combat bonuses.
I would rather see Dancer (and Musician, probably) be dropped down to "half" professions, with 2 skill trees instead of 4, costing 35 points from novice to master rather than 63. The 4 existing skill trees could easily be merged into 2. Either this, or significant beneftis to becoming a Master.
I run the same road as Sinda here.
We need something worthwhile als Dancer and unique as Mastrdancer. Something that let us participate in the GCW and the player community in general. Only healing BF in Cantinas ist much to few. And because it works more passive, a lot of players sees our profession as less usefull and less working then the other professions.
Like someone said, we can do nothing (except really entertain if the audience likes it at all),what a low sklilled afk playingentertainer not could do too.

Aniella (Gorath) Dancer
proposed solution: take it out of the game or at least make it inversely related to the skill level, so that high level dancers cannot fall (or at least only rarely so). I don't mind if some novice entertainer falls on her butt a bunch of times -- she's a novice, she's just learning. But a dancer with Dance Knowledge III and level 2 of everything else should not be falling just as often.

Oh hang on sorry, yup falling over has to be the biggest issue, it is not built in redundancy at master, nor is it the Buff's or AFK lamers, nor is it even empty cantina's - it is Falling Over !
/sarcasm off
Good grief I do not believe it! Get a grip Chess for pete's sakes... for someone so allegedly high on the Bartle Scale you really are annoying...
I think my number 1 issue is the lack of flourishes for the higher end dances.
2nd after that would be falling down Chess didnt deserve that 1 star you gave him.
gave you 5 chess ![]()
Agree with Sinda, although falling is a really, really, really, REALLY close second. It'd be easier for them to ditch the falling thing before working out a way to give us control over who we mind buff.
And I don't mean control as in 'anyone you /deny isn't going to be buffed', it needs to be something that the dancer initiates for it to happen at all.
I view AFK macroing not as a dancer issue but an entertainer issue-musicians have the same problem-so while I don't like it, I don't think it's appropriate as a dancer number 1. IMO, of course ![]()

Umm.....
There is no "high" or "low" on the bartle scale. It is just a comparison of player personality types. As an SEA I might agree that I value SEx types more than other types personally but that doesn't make it high or low. It's just a playstyle. There are many possible play styles, and no one is "right." So I am not sure what you are referring to by "high" on the scale.
Additional, as an SEA, my primary interest is in socialization not a lot of the other "bugs" that people whine about. I pondered putting LAME first but frankly it has become less of an issue at least on my server than it was a few weeks ago. Most of the LAMErs are gone and what seem to be left, at least in Keren and Moenia on Naboo in the Naritus server, are the "real" dancers.
As a socializer I find it very hard to RP someone who is almost an expert dancer when she falls every 10th flourish. You can only gripe about how slippery the floor is so many times before it gets old. If there were some light at the end of the tunnel where I could see that my character would fall less it might not bother me as much, but the idea that even as a Master she will fall on her butt every 10th flourish is unappealing to me and is going to force me to KEEP RPing my "master" dancer as if she is still a bumbling novice...
See the problem? So no, I don't think this conflicts with my SEA rating at all.
And by the way that's in my sig not to "brag" about it (since I don't consider it a "high" rating) but sort of as a caveat -- as in "OK, I am SEA, so that is my bias when I answer threads on this forum." That bias will lead to different answers than would be given by, say, an AKE.

Thank you... but I'd never even know it unless someone said it, as I don't have board rating stuff turned on. I really don't care what other people thought of a thread... I make my own judgments on it. :-)

/agree with Sinda
Mind buffing ability on par with doctor buffs would allow us to offer something truly valuable, be usefulin the GCW and thus give us a greater sense of participation in the story arc, and serve to remove some of the marginalization of the entertainment professions. It would be something the rest of the playerbase'wants' from us, as opposed to 'needs' as a consequence of other activities and hence resents.
Here is a point for you guys to chew on. Dancing flourishes and effect do not, I repeat DO NOT require any skill to perform or learn. thats right it is an easy profession to advance in all you have to do is invest your time. thats it. The social aspect serves to make friends, generate tips, or find out information in the game. I don't care if you rid yourself of all afk'ers your not going to change the views of others about dancing being an easy profession to advance because it is.
If you want to change how people view the dancing profession you will need to change how experience is awarded, Like perhaps half of your experience having to come from battle camps or something.
flame away.
All any profession requires to Master is time.... Very few professions require any real skill to Master.. even someone as lacking in common sense as yourself could probably do it. ![]()
The rest of you, please ignore this poor ignorant soul's post and keep this thread on topic. Don't help this moron Hi-Jack a thread.
Right now I'm leaning towards the Mind buff changes as our number 1 issue.. but you still have about an hour and a half to change my mind before I need to turn this in. ![]()
