Thread: Applying the Mind Buff, a Guide to buffing.
I have been buffing people all day. Unfortunatley, I have no hard numbers on duration, but I do know that the one person I actually adventured with, who had a mind buff, it lasted over an hour. I did not dance for longer than 5 minutes, and I flourished a lot, but not nonstop.
I don't think it's really necessary for you to flourish non-stop for 5-8 minutes. A mind buff duration for 2 hours is nice, but not entirely necessary. Anything over an hour should be sufficient for most people's needs. I would only knock myself out (literally, apparently) for a specific goal (such as a person that specifically requests a two hour mind buff and pays accordingly, or a good friend or whatever). For the most part, a couple minutes of active flourishing should be sufficient.
"What Hypatian said is correct, passive buff you must group, active buff no group."
There is a word for this... uumm... it'll come to me... just a sec.... Oh wait! I've got it!
BACKWARDS!!

For a "passive" buff I have to go through the trouble of grouping or ungrouping, and my customer has to do likewise... which is especially annoying with large hunting groups... getting everyone organized (like the keystone cops sometimes, those hunters
) yet for an "active" buff my customer has to do nothing more than he's used to, and I hit one hot-key for /setperform....
/going to find dictionary to look up "passive" and "active". ![]()
"Kalia.. next time we chat? Are you a certain someone from TC I know? I've been trying to figure out if this you or the Kalya name I see posting too. :
eers:: If that is you then hiyas hun! ::hugs::"
Yes, that'd be me!
I figured "Kalia" and "Kalya" would be close enough so people that knew me on both servers wouldn't be confused. Is there another "Kalya" posting here? I never noticed. ![]()

When I was doing it, I was using Exotic3 and had a little macro setup so I could get the quickest times in between the flourishes, that ended up being about 20 seconds between flourishes. I ran that for 8 min and the one guy got an hour and 15 min out of it.
I have had reported back to me one hour 50 minutes after 8 minutes of exotic4. I've also had 20 minutes after 8 minutes at exotic 4.
On another note, I was successful in performing a /setperform self ... I received an acknowledgement that I wsa infact turning all attention upon myself. After 8 minutes I terminated my vanity session and NOTHING!!! Not one point into my mind pool.

This is strange, I'm not for sure what may be going on. Raven, you may want to send this to the devs for an answer to see if they have any information on this.
Excellent thread! Word is this works for Musicians about the same way.
- Have a doctor or someone with medic skills healing your action.
Tatooine Sunburns my friend, Tatooine Sunburns. Buy 'em by the crate. Over 1,000 to Action and Action regen rate (minus something to Mind). I can't deplete my Action bar fast enough. The crates I use last 3 minutes.
Just dance/play until your Action pool is almost gone and drink one (I have it hotkeyed). ![]()
Luckily, Keren has a dedicated Doc who is there every night going between the med center (to heal fighters) and the cantina (to grab more people to heal, and heal dancers along the way). So when he is there it won't be a problem. And as long as it just takes longer if you rest, that's OK too... I just wanted clarification. Thanks.
Hmm... Sunburns... I believe this is an excellent reason to get some CHEFS as bartenders into the cantinas! Chefs! Where are you? Dancers need you!
C
That only works... IF... foodstacks are unbugged.
Personally, I prefer to find a Master (or near-master)Doctor to"inject" me witha +1500 (or even +2000 in some cases) buff to either of my secondary Action stats.I'm good for 2-2.5 hours that way.
Now, here's my question for Raven. Does the beffee HAVE to be grouped for both passive and active buffs? This little point is giong to be a serious pain... a constant grouping and ungroupoing for players, especially those that hunt in groups, a constant inviting of these players by the dancer performing, a constant /disband and regrouping whenever someone forgets to /leavegroup after getting their buff (cause the "kick from group" command still doesn't work... it disbands everyone), and finally...the Leader of the performing group is going to be getting a non-stop stream of tells from patrons asking to be invited to get buffed, or from other performers asking that a certain person who walked in be invited to the group.
Also... a thought occured to me yesterday regarding the malicious hate of AFK dancers, and how to rememdy the problem. I'll tell you more about it next time we chat. ![]()
here's what NOT to do.
I started watching a master dancer in my group, and then started dancing...well, lo and behold, I had 2000 mind (I have 1k normally). Then I noticed that I wasnt watching her anymore, so I stopped dancing, and started watching her again, then started dancing again...
You guessed it, I now had 4000 mind. I wanted a little more evidence for the /bug report, so I did it a few more times...
Well, let's just say that huge amounts of mind go reaaaallly wonky, I got up to 24k, dropped down to 1, got incapped cuz one of the other buffs wore off, went up to 30k, and then proceeded to incap a couple more times over the next 20 minutes waiting for the other buffs to wear off.
I hope they fix this soon, it would be an uber-exploit if the timing of getting max buffs werent so difficult.

I just wanted to let you people know the buff is not deppendant on flourishes. I have buffed whole groups and single targets to 100% for close to two hours without flourishing once. Only using effects like distract dazzle and smokebomb. From experience it seems to take about the same amount of time as someone doing it with flourishes, but I think the pretty lights are a bit more fun.
Ahhh crap. That bug was fixed in Test Center early on but it sounds like a last minute change to the buffing system undid the fix. I'll let the boss know. Thanks for letting me know this went live, thats a big no no.

Actually, that would make more sense since the skill (Mind Enhancement) that we use to buff is in the same skill-tree as the lights. For them to go hand in hand seems logical.
