Thank you, correspondents. You are the ones that they listen to and read, and even though I don't have access to those forums, I have full faith that you are saying what needs to be said.
So many disturbing things about this...just the fact that it was done...and then of course, reading the Ahazi thread where it appears that over half of the people there think it's great.
I'm really...kind of at a loss for words here.

This is inexcusable and totally outrageous.
A macro (probably passed through a billion emails) is now a shining example of, and the epitome of,what someone in our profession can achieve.
This is pathetic.
This game is now pathetic and disgusting.

If you needed proof that buffing/healingneed is more important to the majority than being socially entertained by entertainers here is your proof. They don't want our chat. They don't want our role play or our style of gaming. All they want is double mind capacity and to shred off battle fatigue. This should be all our coorespondents need to fuel he fires of change.
To paraphrase Holocron from an earlier writing... A game system which is mostly played AFK is boring and in need of change.

Wow, don't I feel foolish for:
a) planning player events and running them
b) livening up holidays with fun things like running around handing out eggs on Easter with my EasterBunny pet
c) actually playing the game
Never got any recognition for anything, guess I'll just be a buffbot and earn the respect of all. How deeply, deeply, deeply sad.

If Holocron was still in charge, we would have had this fixed a long time ago.

Ok I want to add my voice to the other entertainers who are disgusted at this most recent blatant act of disrespect for an entire community of players - not by some random discourteous player, but by none other than a representative of the SOE company itself. I really don't care about the badge itself, it's virtually meaningless, but the fact that a CSR would make a point of honoring an AFK bot in the presence of live entertainers and other players is nothing short of a mockery of our profession by SOE. It's bad enough that the devs seem to show little interest in our concerns for our professions, but this is an insult. Unless this is really SOE's attitude toward the entire entertainer playerbase, I demand an explanation and formal apology from SOE. It's the least they could do if they want to show us that they have any interest at all in our professions, otherwise they might as well introduce the buff-bot NPC in the next patch.
I do want to send out my appreciation and thanks to Panthu, NewJedi and Tiaga for standing up and fighting what seems to be a losing battle for our interests. It's one of my few comforts in knowing that we have you on our side looking out for us.

I posted in another thread regarding this situation earlier today, but it seems to have vanished...from my posts in my profile as well *ponders*
Anyway, basically I just want to share my disappointment with this situation as well. My musician Merry on Intrepid actually earned one of those badges through actual atk play....through involving patrons andcantina guests and playersin conversation...through actual entertainment. I was proud of the badge, and I endeavored to always conduct her in a manner that would not tarnish the honor she had been given.
Honor.....somehow it doesn't quite feel as if it is worth as much anymore
I have played numerous entertainers over the last year.....I have met many wonderful people, and enjoyed myself for hundreds of hours. This is the first time that I have been made to feel as if my investment in this game...of time and of money...has been cheapened.

This may comfort some of you--or it may not. I was so ticked at this incident--that I filed a harrasment report about it with the CSR ticket system, under community standards and harrasment. I know.. in some sense I was not directly harrased by the CSR that did this award--but in another sense I was- and anyone who's disturbed by all the turbo-afk-looters or buffbots or spammer merchants, was harrased.I know how I felt when I read that a CSR rewarded a bot . So I complained--and apparently, the CSRs didnt think my complaint worthless....
So it took CS a day to respond--the first CSr on it had to talk to a supervisor--but today I got a response. NO, its not immediately an apology or any indication that people will be punnished, the badge removed, the bots account revoked--but it *is* at least something you can point toand say AFKers are NOT encouraged by SOE (even if some players encourage them).
What the supervisor said to me was "rest assured" that they consider it "inappropriate' that a badge was given to a player dedicated to AFK play.
I take it to mean that the offical SOE view is that bots do not *deserve* a badge .
ITs not quite everything you hoped for by way of response--but at the least...there it is. The CSRs alsosaid they were investigating further and could not of course disclose anything else about what would happen (if anything) until that investigation is done. I expected that bit of nonanswer--but was sort of pleased they said as much as they did.
If you were there on ahazi when this happened--then please file a ticket about it. I know elsewhere people have urged you to write letters and all--but filing a ticket in game is pretty easy to do. f you were actually there when the CSR appeared, and spoke to the CSr to tell them not to give the badge--it might help if you could mention how the CSR blew you off. I'm not sure what people said to the CSR but I heard that some people argued wtih the CSR who didn't seem to care about the AFkness of the player. In any case--I do believe they are investigating this and that while one or two CSR's may not "get it"--that most try to do their jobs well and make us the customers happy.
I have never yet filed a ticket where I did not get a CSR back to help fix what I thought was wrong--possibly b/c I take time to write up the problem clearly and politely, and I respect that they may not be able to help me.I also pick my battles ..but this one was something I felt worth the trouble. So please if you do go this route--make sure you're calm before you write it up--and just lay out to the CSR that you think this is a problem. EVEn if they gave you the same response they give me-- at least it will continue to "squeak" in the ears of those trying to compile lists of "bugs" that need to be changed.
And if you are by chance one of those players who are passionately proud of the bots and how they "help" you-- let me say you were probably also annoyed at the ID changes, the fixing of the shuttle-repair bug...and various other things in game that created downtime for you--and playing opportunites for other players. If the developers/CSRs were really listening to the narrow interests of just the hard-core, power leveling combat type who adore bots--none of those changes would have happened. This badge didn't make sense if you're looking at how the game has been developed so far--and now we have word from a CSR that they agree itwas "inappropriate".

They also give them out to real people too
I got the profession accolade badge because either a dev or a csr one was in ear shot distance of me saying that I never once afk'd to get master dancer...that even when I went to go get something to drink, I would always /sit, as well as I dont even have macro's for dancing,I prefer to hit the buttons hehe and then like a minute later I got the badge (and the bio one too!!
) hehe
But I've had my badges for well over a month .. probably about two months now
*shows off the badge*
So they are indeed giving them to real entertainers .. but yea.. them giving one to a buff botmakes me mad too.
