I have to ask again: Why would it require a Master Dancer to be exceptionally social?

If other people do not have these emotes, then you would be limiting their role-playing opportunities. You can play a social character without ever stepping foot on a stage. Han Solo was a pretty sociable guy. How do we know this? We watch him do it (the actual character; not the cardboard cut-out in the game *grin*). He doesn't need a special emote. But he's hardly an entertainer.

I'd go so far as to say that entertainers tend to be social. But not all socializers tend to be entertainers. The merchant can be social and probably ought to be. The medic can have a wonderful bedside manner. The chef knows how to flavor his food because he talks to his patrons. The marksman can kick back around the campfire and regale his audience with an exciting tale of how he assaulted Fort Tusken.

Would you deny social characters from having an especially emote just because he's not a Dancer? That seems unfair to all the role-players out there. Just because you role-play doesn't mean you choose to be an Entertainer. My secondary character is a staunch Imperial soldier. He would definitely not try his hand at dancing (he also wouldn't use the special kiss emote either, that's for sure). But I could make a friendly creature handler who enjoys flirting and giving special kisses. Why does being good on my feet be a prerequisite for good social skills?

And then there's the fact that some dancers aren't that sociable (and I mean RP reasons...not AFK) so this ability would be wasted on them.

I'm just throwing out something I thought might be fun for entertainers. Seeing that I'm primarily a fighter, I spend the majority of my playing time shooting poor animals, and other players hehe. What do entertainers do the whole time? emotes and chatting? I'm perfectly well aware that there are non entertainers who use emotes and spend a lot of time in tells. Yah I know. Just thought I'd throw out an idea that I thought would be kind of fun. I know SOE's response to everything is create your own content an that's fine. It kind of reminds me of working at fast food and doing these meaningless tasks over and over again... and hey you can make it fun by being more friendly, and establishing a good customer relationship base. However, seeing that this is a game you would think it would be a little different. So in response to your question. Their whole class is focused on the social aspect of the game. A smuggler's goal is not to be social so that he can make more money. Sure being friendlier would help. But look at weaponsmith's they "generally" speaking are some of the most unfriendly people in the game. I know b/c I used to be a master weaponsmith, and yet they make tons of money. The reason why is b/c they have a greater intrinsic value than entertainers do. If you're the best weaposmith then people are going to buy from you simply b/c you are the best. Entertainers don't really have as much of that right now seeing that there islittle demand for quality entertainment as compaired with afk entertainment. Right now I go to the cantina for one reason, just to ge my bf healed and get out. If the entertainer doesn't talk to me or ackknowledge my presence I don't tip, and why should I? We both get mutual benefit, entertainer gets the xp I get my healing. It's already a pain in the butt having to interupt my mindless killing of animals. I dont' think that should be the case, I think it should be fun to go to the cantina. That in my opinion should be an exiting thing. Maybe one way to fix this would be to force people to target players in order for them to actually heal. Who knows maybe it was a stupid idea to give entertainers better abilities and I probably offended every dancer/musician there is LOL. I still think it would be interesting and at least give entertainers a little more that makes them stand out.

This is all just a waste of electrons. <laughs> You want more (or better) emotes? Create them? I personally do not care for half the canned emotes as provided by the devs. Why do I have to "wink suggestively" at someone, why can I not "wink playfully" as an example. So, I have an alias file full of custom emote's. We don't need to bother the devs about something as miner as emotes. Use your imagination and create you're own. So they come in silly "thought" bubbles, and so they don't all come with cutsy animation. I don't really care. They do give my character a uniqueness.

Do we need new abilities? Perhaps. But I'd like to see some of the shortcomings of being a Master Dancer corrected first. fix the high end flourishes, add new dances at all levels, Add more songs for the Musicians.things like that.

Just my take.

kirah_ all I can say is EXCELLENT! HEAR, HEAR! (or is it here, here?)

It's indeed a sad state of affairs for professional (roleplayer or not) dancers to hear someone (fotojett on Chilastra) holler out "the cantina is full of ho's!"

As for the original post about increasing the types of emotes I am all for it.. good luck on your endeavor
