Thread: Top 5 most important issues you want to see taken care of?
This will be short but sweet with one unique request that people have overlooked!
1) /tipgroup
2) /deny
3) XP for FX
4) More COMBAT BONUSES for Dancers: "Bart, Use the Ballet!"
C'mon, a Simpsons' Star Wars quote ON POINT! I win!
1. It'd be nice if some of the upper level dance skills could be used in situations besides cantina dancing. Like your Light Show or Smoke Bomb could have a chance to blind, confuse or distract an enemy in combat. You could call the branch the "Trickster" branch, and a trickster master would besimilar toan Illusionist/Phantasmal wizard in other RPG's.
2. It's kind of disappointing to know that what I'm doing my first day asa NoviceEntertainer will not be any differentthat what I'll be doing in a few months as a Master Dancer (aside from slightly different dances and useless fireworks). Try to implement some out-of-cantina uses for the elite entertainer professions in general. Other professions get to do new and interesting things as they progress (smugglers can start smuggling spices, squadron leaders can start aiding battle groups). Dancers just get to keep dancing as they did on day one.
3. /groupTip functionality, to reward the performing group as a whole, if the patron desires.(although entertainer correspondent will likely have this on his list)
4. Dance partners. If you choose to dance with an audience member (slow dance or whatever), then they get extra healing / temporary boost. If you do a duet dance with another high level dancer, your dance is more effective for anyone watchingthan if you each danced alone.
5. Ummmm... free donuts? Can't think of a fifth ![]()
1. The ability to heal BF in camps at higher dance levels (I don't think it should be tied to the type of camp - newbie scouts should be able to benefit, too).
2. The ability to see who is watching you would be nice ... good idea.
3. The ability to heal BF in camps.
4. Having XP relate to the level, not the dance. I don't know what I'm going to do when I get to higher levels, cuz exotic is way out of character for some of this, and it is an RPG. ![]()
5. And did I mention that I'd like to see the ability to heal BF in camps?
/begs;/pleads
i see a lot of great ideas in here so far. Ravenmist, i know you're only sposed to get the top 5 issues, but it might be a good idea to collect a list of ALL the ideas, especially some of the very original ones i see. here's a couple from me:
1. Flashies (/dazzle, /distract, /spotlight etc) - why do these need to use action? they serve no purpose other than aesthetic, if for some reason they DO need to cost points, how about have them drain from Health or Mind instead? if not that, at least make them cost less.
2. Bonus - dancers are the most coordinated and physically fit group in the galaxy; i suggest a 50% bonus to Quickness, Stamina, or both to reflect this. this gives our profession something useful to itself in the form of longer lasting dancers/more flourishes, but its also useful in the game as a whole.
3. Equipment - i've seen a lot of dancers equip staffs or swords while dancing (and some sadistic ones - guns). what about a wand with streamers attached to it? maybe something that gives the kind of 'trails' effect produced by unarmed combat attacks. point is, give is more things to equip while dancing that look cool or, dare i say it: actually improve/affect our performance.
4. this is where i toss my vote in favor of being able to 'concentrate' on a customer to heal them better. maybe even make it a skill for one of our unused boxes? i'm generally against denial of service, i think this is a better option.
5. not specifically dancer, but i second the SFX on tips option. how about, customisable SFX similar to the chat color customization we have currently? that'd be WONDERFUL.
1. MORE XP FOR FLOURISHES!!!! i have noticed that no one else has cried that dancers get bumpkiss for xp per flourish...i understand that the idea is to make the game not so easy so we dont get bored with it but COME ON ppl!!! i average 27 xp per flourish and i have to get 125k xp!!! i for one dont want to be stuck in cantinas until i grow old and keel over!! dont get me wrong i LOVE dancing and gossiping with the clients but i think that the minimal flourish xp is rediculas....and if i dont do a flourish i get 3 or 4xp (if im lucky) ....ok im sure u see where im going with this so ill be quiet about it......for now ![]()
2. definatly better flourishes and dances!!
3. /deny even a saint wishes he had that option on a bad day...dont try to deny it.....i would use it HAPPILY!!! i mean come on (again) ppl...we have to spend our lives in the cantinas we dont have time to go on missions....WE NEED THE MONEY!!!
4. /tipgroup is an AWSOME idea and i want to kiss the feet of the person who thought of it ![]()
5. other then that i vote with everyone else...im mainly an Image Designer so i just got started with the dancing stuff and havent seen all the bugs yet
6. (PS) i want to stop FALLING!!!!
7. (PPS) lately ive been doing formal flourishes while in the middle of poplock...???? ...any ideas????

1. Fix the broken default steps -- formal, lyrical, and rhythmic2. They look awful to others.
2. Pleasere-examine at the falling rate, specifically for popular and popular2. I seem to fall far more often doing popular than ANY other dance, even lyrical, which is the dance I most recently learned.
3. In the same vein, master dancers should not have to worry about falling while doing their master level dances -- or at the very least should have a VERY low chanceof doing so.
4. More than 4 flourishes for the upper level dances please.
5.Addition of acommandthat would allow patronsto autosplit their tip to the entertainer group by selecting any single member and using the command (like /tipgroup or somesuch).
As a side note, I am generally not in favor of a 'refuse to heal' option, though if one were implemented it wouldn't affect my playstyle any... I would simply not make use of it.
I wont relist it here everyone has covered whats needed multiple times. We asked for these very same things through beta and were ignored.
I pray that we finally see some action on these things.
I agree with most all of what I've read in the other posts relating to this topic, and yes I must admit I did not take the time to read all of them, so forgive me for restating the things that've already been said (over and over, hehe).
1. We need to be able to refuse services, plain and simple. I've so much as waved at others and had my head bitten off or rude gestures made, then they have the nerve to tip one credit.
2.This is the one that really gets me, the dance styles are all so ridiculous. Even the good ones are bad (I must say the same for the sounds of the musician's songs as well). Given the formal dance has some Oolareminiscent moves, but all in all the dances are just plain horrible.
3. Something needs to be done with the economy. One or two tailors hold a monopoly over entire regions, and are then able to charge ridiculous amounts of money for clothing, in this case dance costumes. I went out in the middle of the desert to find a tailor...no one was there and the vendor was empty. Not to mention I was told that if she had been there I would have had to have paid 8,000 credits for the costume I desired. I don't know about the rest of you, but as a dancer you don't see that much cash every day (or even every other day).
So maybe Entertainers should start with slightly more appealing ensembles.
4. I agree on the Band Flourish count. If you want it to look good at all you have to make sure no one is on a macro and make sure everyone is doing the same dance and so on, and so on. In theory it's a good function but I think it needs some definite reworking.
5. I think that with all professions, not just dancing, there should be more of an apprenticeship situation. Notjust learning for someone who happens to be in your group. Not to mention it would give us dancer's more to do if you actually could, say, travel with a Master Dancer under his or her tutelage.
6. And on an extra note...I have seen very few male dancers, but I have seen a lot of male clothing. I think that with the sexually appealing design of the female dance costumes there should be a male equivalent. I mean who is it going to hurt to see a bare chest or two? Certainly not me *grin*

Ah, I forgot.
On a separate but easily relatable note...
What is with the selectable torso size?? You can make a girl look like she'll tip over, and yet you can't change her hips to a reasonable width or give her a substantial backside. You can look like a twiggy supermodel, or be a big girl. But there are no realistic in betweens.
fix the jagged unpolished jerkiness of formal
floutishes 5-8 need uniqueness for each dance or perhaps a change dance sense to them so when you do want to change dance these are transitional rather than the wholly out of rhythm moves they are now
be able to move a few steps w/o losing the dance motion to help deal with the floor mop dances
many moves are right biased how about a change dir command so that the dance is from the reverse
please stop the ridiculous fall down steps when you achieve a certain level- it makes us look and feel incompetent

I love #3, I have thought for awhile that it would be great to be able to use "Props" in dance shows.
I have3 suggestions that come to mind.
1) This would have to have new motion capture for it so I am sure that it will never happen but, The ability to Choreograph a dance. All you would need would be 8 8-counts for each style. Similar to Flourishes, but stand alone 8 counts that tie together. so the Begining animation, and the end animation are the same. That way for each style you could pout these 8-counts together to form unique dances, and they would play one after another so the animations would stay smooth. It could be what you gain at master dancer, the true ability to Choreograph.
2) Fix the Xp drain at higher levels. I am a dancer IRL, and when I started I used up my energy much faster that I currently do. As I got better I could perform longer. Also Skill should determine Xp not the dance. I totally agree with what everyone has said on this matter.
3) Give the Bandflourish more power. If I could Do suggestion #1, and then train several dancers my dance, then we could truly have shows in the Large theaters with Music and all. My Boyfriend is a Stage manager IRL, and brought up that he would love to Change his character to and Entertainer, if he could choreograph, and Stage manage shows. This would bring a whole new level to the game from an entertainment standpoint.
Will these things ever happen? Probably not, but I will still go on Having a great time Performing, and meeting new people.
Here we go:
1) Remove Formal falling animation from Popular and Poplock and replace with something suitable
2) Link XP to Dancer Level to not the actual Dance, so we can dance what the crowd/music wants not what we need for XP.
3) Some XP for Dance Techniques?
4) An effective way to synchronise routines. This is utterly crucial to expanding this class and creating further role-play opportunities
5) *cough* More flourishes, fill up those repeated slots with new, unique animations
