I feel your pain too. Scylla is the same. But I keep telling myself that one live entertainer is better than 50 afkers.

I also tend to stalk more unconventional places these days too, outside the SP or wherever there is action. I seem to have more fun and interaction that way. But then again, I also stalk my customers with /who

Well, if our new "venue" is to be streets and starports, then perhaps they should consider letting us buff in those places.

I hate to say it but the only option we have is to change our gameplay some...

Our profession has changed significantly over the course of the last year and we have to adapt to this.

I would be totally miserable if I carried on hanging out in emtpy cantinas waiting for someone to drop by on the off-chance.

Think about it -- what reason has a combatant or crafter to go to coronet anymore now that with JTL there is no need to travel there for a connection to another world? What content do these player cities offer to non entertainers?

Part of the Theed problem is that our buffs are tied to xp gain. This is why we are are not needed in Theed, where PvP typically the goal of combat classes. (Although I have to note that it is MASTER crafters that want the new buffs more than grinders).

In addition, this is what has happened on my server :

(1) Entertainers use the chat channel and we coordinate events and parties far more than before.
(2) The entertainer community is closer and more intimate.
(3) Entertainers are being sought by crafters in the chat channel and we are beginning to see a strong relationship forming with the crafting community.
(4) When we are seen performing, we are appreciated. This is reflected in the tips we now get.

I really do think that all we need is a little more time. The cantinas will never be like before (and who honestly wants all the spam-bots back? ). But I have faith that things will pick up eventually.

(Just wanted to add, I played on Bria and my expereince was that Coronet was deserted, Theed and Eisley were moderately busy, and the MO has the same 5 people in a state fo permanent afkness, one of whom was spamming /planet offerening free buffs contantly).

I find that there is absolutly no reason to entertain inside anymore. For you to entertain inside means that to expect people to just wander in to get a buff, which honestly they don't do all that often. Mos Eisley is a grave except for the few AFK robots and even Coronet only has one or two people in them. There is no Cantina atmossphere. In fact I almost feel like the ents have disappeared. There are also the Jedi hologrinders (I guess holo doesn't aply but it fits) that stalk Aurallia AFKing all dang day.

However I have noticed and increase of crafters asking for buffs on the ent channel. I'd like to see this multiplied one hundred fold.

Despite the rise of the crafters asking for buffs our public has left the cantina. We are faced with entertaining ourselves or one's self in empty cantinas. There is no point in that. One cannot find too much engaging in watching the same flos repeatedly or talking on guildchat. I know that I can only stand about half an hour of it before I'm bored to tears asking for more combat (after which I get bored again and return to the cantina).

And the last time I entertained I did so in the street outside of the Mos Eisley cantina where people are still Awed by the sight of pets and a good show. I've had no one tell me to get rid of the Rancor either. Now where I a master dancer I'd continue the same thing and put a note in my bio saying ask for a buff so that I could continue to dance out where the public is. It is too bad we cannot give the basic buff outside at a lower rate. Might tempt people to follow us to the dark corners of a cantina for a full buff. I wish I knew of a better way to call our audience back, but I cannot without hearing a landfall of complaint.
