A good question, and one we find ourselves asking folks that spend the money to "play" AFK.

You will find agreement on the above quoted point of view in these hallowed halls of entertainer forum goodness. Thank you for your response.

This is what many are complaining about! Cantinas are full of AFK macrotainers and Buffbots and there are many who think that is all we are good for.
three cheers for Virrago for supporting Live entertainment!

Easy credits with little, if any, effort + free xp = a winning combination for the lazy people in this game.
You can also use AFK'ing Entertainer to get 4/6 necessary branches to gain a Jedi.
But I must say I'm quite happy to see this statement from you.

Believe it or not most of the people in this office have the same feelings. Change takes time, money, and patiencein this world.
ps: we watch the cantina crawl videos here too.

I'm glad you and the folks at the SOE office enjoy the Cantina Crawl videos. I enjoy helping Javier (picklesSW) make them in my capacity as Music Director.
/shamelessplug Please attend the next one, Virrago /endshamlessplug![]()

For the record, I'll spank anyone, male or female. So be careful what you ask for.
As for SOE employees attending the crawls, who knows, for all we know they've already done so in disguise. I know that's how I'd go if I was going to be in a location with 100 rabid social entertainers.

I thought the PS2's slogan is "Live in your world, play in ours." Oh wait, this is SOE, not the PS2 department.
But seriously, Virrago - if you or some other Dev-type folks meandered over to a Cantina Crawl, all of our heads would explode simultaneously with glee. It would also make a statement that some folks with clout support ATK entertaining...without having to officially make a statement regarding the whole issue.
Ok, done. It'd be cool to see ya at a Crawl. Take care and thanks for clarifying some stuff. Today was nutty, I need more tea.

To carry us through the next stage in the evolution of the entertainer professions,
A big part of the problem is that many see the next stage in the evolution of the entertainer professions as extinction. The number of true social entertainers is dwindling and the mumber of AFK buff vending machines is growing. The general acceptance of the AFK buffbots is proof that while many claim that they like live entertainers ultimately they couldn't care less if we existed or not so long as they get what they want in the end. It's not surpising that so many reacted so angrily over what they see as one more nail in the coffin of the social classes in this game. When someone with an enhanced level of access and input to the development process makes statements that can be construed as meaning that some players may not have a valid postion in the larger game it's time that the situation be reevaluated.
