This is so true. I hated the theater manager quests. When I was on the last promotion with my character on Eclipse, I was at the starport trying to get people to watch me, and this doctor there started complaining about my presence... saying things like I "should go back to the cantina where I belong" and that if I "want to make money" that I should "get a real profession." This doctor was so insulting towards me that the oter people there waiting for doctor buffs took up for me. This experience also really made me want a droid module that would allow me to buff anywhere.

Have to be careful with quests here.
Let's look for example at the current musician/dancer quests for the new dances. Most of the dancers and musicians I know in-game wanted the new material but had to grit their teeth and just slog through the missions because they were annoying. Myself, I took the first and second "get people to watch you missions" but unlike most people I know, I am in no rush (it took me over a YEAR to master dancer, so you can see that I am patient). I haven't ground out these missions... I just let the game count off whenever someone watches me and at some point I will hit 20 people and go back to continue the quest. But most people are not this patient and most people I know found the whole mission thing annoying. I honestly have not paid too much attention to this forum in the last 8 months or so, so I don't know what the general consensus HERE is, but I know what it is, in game, on my server, amongst my group of 20 or 30 fellow entertainers that I know well.
So, if they are going to put in quests, they're going to need to do it in a way that is different from how they have it now. A lot of people do not like performing for the NPCs for example. I actually think that part is potentially neat, just because I like sovling puzzles, and figuring out how to dance for them is like solving a puzzle. But, as they have it implemented now, the 2 minute timer is a pain in the neck... you don't have TIME to puzzle it out and work out the proper dances/flourishes (I solved the first one by guessing and luck), and the NPCs are clearly bugged, since for everyone I know, talking with them gives a 10-15 second delay before they say anything (which makes me think I am lagging, etc).
They need to address these bugs and issues and improve them before they start making doing quests the main way to get ahead as a dancer. Also they need to make VERY sure that they don't do things to further encourage grinding or discourage performing in public (which in a sense their quests are doing right now -- you grind "watchers", then you perform for NPCs).

I would LOVE for an Entertainer to set up shop next to me while I'm buffing. Sitting out in front of the Coronet Starport gets really boring with all the AFK spamming. An Entertainer would be welcome company while I sell doc buffs.

That was my experience too...
I met a great doc who asked if I wouldn't mind playing right there with him while he buffed, since sitting there buffing was really boring to him. Not only that, but started suggesting to his buff line that they should tip me for being good enough to come and entertain them while they waited in line. And at the end of that, he shared out some of his profits with me as a tip.
He's since asked me to come out and play music and dance for him frequently while he buffs. Last time, I brought along friends, and we had a pretty decent starport show going. So much so that other docs in the area were sending me tells, trying to bribe us to come play for them, since we were definitely attracting the buffing business to our doc.
We all had a great time, made some new friends, made some money, and it was all a really good thing. All depends on the people, I think.
And I know one really nice doc, who appreciates entetainers, who made a lot of money that day while other docs were wondering why they didn't have lines.

OMG, I can't believe you people. there was no mention of "no skill point cost" until the doomsayers jumped in. the original post was just to say that they want the entertainment tree to have quests mixed in. that was the only association they made to the pilot profession. The rest was dreamed up along the way when people saw the sky falling. ever played that game where someone whispers something to another, then they pass it on down the line and by the time it gets to the end, it's all messed up?
Is that what we've been reduced to?

Thanks Wokka. That was true I never even thought of saying that it will still cost skill points
