Interesting I have found the opposite here in the Dancer forums - I have never felt like it was a clique - nor have I felt that people were intentionally rude. I haven't been a dancer that long but have found people extremely helpful here. I do notice that constant requests for macros "for buff bots" tend to get on peoples nerves but I imagine that it could be due to the fact that the buff bot has basically made every dancer / entertainer feel unvalued - unneeded and basically a thing versus a breathing person on the other side of the keyboard.
The people that have come and asked for the buff bot macros typically will start the topic with - I know its a buff bot and I know you dont like it so... what too bad (or something to that effect) that in and of itself sets the stage for a confrontational reponse. If they know how badly it bothers the entertainers - then it is obvious that they have read alot on the boards - most people know how to run a search on the boards, plug in a keyword or two - browse a bit through messages and wella - there is your script for you buff bot.
I think the dancers here are getting a bad rap - just my humble 2 cents - they are tired - and they don't want to take it anymore - its been a long tedious journey and there isn't alot of light in sight - frankly more than anything else I think that the abruptness that we sometimes see isn't about a clique but the fact that they just can't "grin and bear it anymore".

I think that you have hit it on the head here. I know that when I first started posting here, that I was shown welcome... and I have even disagreed with some of the regular posters (specifically, until the recent changes made, I refused to regard stored buffs as an exploit... but since they have fixed it so that you can't store buffs any more, I have conceeded that it is). I have seen other major posters disagree on other topics too. The only thing that we all seem to agree on is the damage that bots/AFK in general have done to Entertainers... which has made anything to do with botting/AFK non-play a sore issue.

Well, speaking as someone who was, just very recently, one of those new people coming here for help, I've found nothing of the sort. The only thing this forum is closed and standoffish to is AFK.

That said, we do have a problem with the helmets, don't we? Our poor delicate, sensitive (but oh so cute) sensors kinda get in the way. Plus there's that whole not having a chin thing; I dunno about you, but I never liked the taste of ABS or nylon. I suppose you could work out some sort of little bridle arrangement...Okay, so we can't wear helmets. Thank god we're pretty.

we need an anti-cynicsm campaign on this board, STAT!!! I know that the afk/atk war is raging, but you guys gotta know that there are people out there who still appreciate entertainers who entertain!! Now dont be afraid of the 'noob to the dancer forum thread', its good, I swear!
Please point them out ?
I was performing today in both ME and Theed. In both cases the cantina was full with AFK-entertainers (buffbots or not, I don't care) and only 1 other girl ATK. I grouped with her... We stood in the passage to the main hall...
In the period of an hour I was standing there I was overrun about 20 times where about 3, 4 did respond to my greets; others couldn't care less when I useda /pillow, /poke or any other emote I could find and making comments... Worst case was some medic started healing the AFK-ers while I was running out of action... (until the moment he was going out, he noticed me)...
I'm not going to name any names, but few might recognize when reading this. So those who wonder why there are so many AFK-entertainers: you got your answer? Also now how to fix it? DO look for ATK entertainers. They ARE there. Show respect and appreciate the time put into the profession! As much as tips are fine, I don't care that much. What really annoys me is being ignored as if I weren't there, like a bot.
That pisses me off.
To all ATK-entertainers: let's make a list of all those ignorant that choose a buffbot/afk-entertainer in favor of an ATK-entertainer and /denyService to those people.

I can appreciate your anger and at being completely fed up at being ignored - we all are - but my advice to you is to not go down the path of publishing a set of names. The truth is, these tactics tend to backfire, and in the end it is us who look like enemy, not the people who have actually infringed against us.
Sure, I have a list of people that I refuse to buff due to harrassment, rudeness or whatever they have done to make my play experience uncomfortable, but I would never publicly publish their names. I may warn fellow ATK dancers around me if I see a person behaving to them as they did to me - but never create a list of people for public viewing. By flaming people publicly, we're not only creating even more animosity towards real entertainers but we are going to make little impact as they are most like to tell us tof-off and just visit the buffbot anyway

Oh I take notes dear. With the friends list being as robust as it is, I don't even have to keep handwritten notes anymore. There are placesin itfor faction, PA, profession, interesting things about the player, and their habits.
I take lots of notes, for example, on the players who go into Coronet Cantina. I take notes on players that take the time to respond to my "Welcome to the Coronet Cantina," andplayers whomake a beeline to the famous buffbot in the corner. Just as the patrons are observing me when I am performing, so too am I observing them. The difference is that I take detailed notes on what I observe, and they oftentimes do not.
Now what I do with these notes is my business, and mine alone. Nobody knows what is written in my "little black datapad," but I do refer to it. I'll never tell a patron exactlywhat I put in there about them. I'll always be my charming self. But you have to understand that what I say to them, and what I write in the datapadabout them are not always the same.
Becausewhen buffbots become a thing of the past, chances are I have amassed a lot of notes, and that "little black datapad" I keep in my garter will become a lot more useful to me, like it was in the old days.
But that datapad is MINE, dears. Not yours. It does me, and frankly, it does you all no good to post the contents of it here.
But by all means, do keep them. Do use them. But use them wisely, because that datapad can lead to your downfall if the players who are in there learn what is written about them.
That datapad is a tool, just like your flourishes, your effects, and your emotes. Keep it close, keep it under the pillow when you sleep at nitein your Large Type 2 Corellian home, and leave it in your safety deposit box when you go out hunting, lest the cloners rifle through it. It is useful to you only if its yours, and it can't be yours if everyone knows what is inside.

Hehe thx for the compassion. It looks like I'm not the only one. I was not proposing to post them here, but within the game I might share some experiences with fellow ATK entertainers
I do too, keep notes of rude and harassing people. Guess I need to add the ones that are ignoring me now as well. A nice static denyService just like friendlist/ignore list would be very helpfull but that's already mentioned somewhere, so I won't go into this.

yeah, this isnt the place for light hearted anything. I posted a thread earlier today thanking entertainers, and when other people from kauri found out they warned me that it was pointless because this place is the uber-clique forum. Is that true? Many people think it, just wondering why!
I 100% agree with you Seepa!!!! Personally I think Psionic's post is funny and light-hearted, but you're right, only a small percentage of people on these forums are open-minded and non-judgemental. Look at my recent post on jukeboxes and dancers for instance. The dancer forums consist of the biggest group of snobs I have ever seen anywhere! That is the reason I stopped posting here. Everytime I get a good idea or thought, I will post it, but it always gets torn to shreds by some b!tch who doesn't know how to relax. And just for the record, I USE AFK BUFFBOTS!!! HA!

Then too, there are some people who think that anyone who disagrees with them is a snob.

Maisland, I think she's just saying that it's the way the disagreeing is done. This is an open public forum that we can all come to for the purpose of sharing ideas and tips about the profession, as well as discussing the future of it. I think we're all mature enough to handle being disagreed with. However, there is a certain attitude that can shine through at times - I saw it myself when I was a noob - and I think that's what she's referring to.

It really stung me when she made her post about the woderfulness of the jukebox. As a musician it really bothers me that the devs spent time (music time, mind you) toward an in game terminal instaed of music time toward the players that play music as a profession. As the entertainers are a small community as a whole, I, as a musician was hopeing for some community support on the issue. Instead I'm treated to how great the box is compared to me.
I think that is why you got a cold reception with your jukebox post. It's not due to any cliqueish stuff going on around here. I agree with the above folks, it's botfolk labeling us in that manner and the fact we're just bloody tired of this fight that could have us be cast in a cliqueish light.
