Thread: Falling and Stat Migration

I've never seen any response from SOE as to why the falls are even there.
I've never seen SOE ever respond to someone asking why the fall happens.
Actually I can't say that I've seen SOE respond to ANYTHING that anyone has posted or reported since Beta ended. I think someone got irritated that the Devs were actually Communicating with us in Beta and put a stop to it...

Oh but why be unfair? Lets be egalitarian. Lets give the musicians the same chance of failure as WE have and see how long it is before the howls start. LOL!
I have to agree. Falling is just embassing. It serves no purpose except to ruin our performance.
How does one STAND up, wave their arms around in the air, shift their hips and STILL manage to fall down????
Someone who was THAT incapable of standing up erect without falling in R/L would need to check with a neurologist to have themselves checked for brain lesions or perhaps an inner ear infection. If THAT was not the cause then they should Seriously consider a career change. Yet the ONLY thing between me and Master dance now is 4 levels of special effects. There is NO MORE improvement I can make in my actual dancing.
I am a WORSE dancer at essentially Master level than any 13 year old adolescent stepping onto the dance floor for the first time.
In effect I am a completely CRIPPLED dancer. It is quite simply IMPOSSIBLE to dance without falling. Performances are a sad joke. Doing ANY kind of real dancing is a joke.
Unless they come up with SOME kind of resolution to this I don't see that ANY of us have any real option but to give up dance and take up a profession where you CAN succeed. They've intentionally made it impossible to ever BE a successful dancer in any sense of the word.
Coming from the Musician side, and as a performer in r/l, I just wanted to add my voice here. Seeing anyone at novice dancer or above fall is ludicrous. Even if novice dancers fall every now and then (which, I think shouldn't happen either. I figure that a novice dancer is about college-level dance ability. They're past falling,) it is absolutely preposterous that a Master Dancer would ever fall. That's would be like watching Baryshnikov step out of a pirouette ina performance: IT DOESN'T HAPPEN!
Not only is it embarassing for the troupe, but it makes it impossible to choreograph any kind of meaningful performance, and people don't realize that the dancer has no control over this.
At least, one of the perks of grinding to Master Dancer should be the complete confidence to perform any dance in the repitoire without fear. Otherwise, what is the point?

The most annoying one is the fall in Rhythmic and Rhythmic2 where you jump up and fall, then jump up and fall AGAIN in the same fall animation. I mean, if I just fell over, I think I'd be a little more careful and not do the same dumb thing right after. Today while trying to get some experience as my new dancer, I did that fall three times in two minutes, and I was just sitting there sighing, watching how stupid I looked.
I've only ever seen one dancer fall ever in any real life performance, and that was a performance ofa ballet school. It was a girl who was maybe 14-15 years old, and her skirt was too long, soshe tripped on it. I've seen many other dance performances of even younger kids and I've never seen them fall, even with some somewhat difficult routines in Ukrainian, Indian, and other ethnic dances, not to mention the usual ballet, tap and jazz.
Still, Idon't mindhaving some falling during the entertainer levels, and it doesn't even bother me if they don't tweak the fall levels for those, even though my dancer is still working through them.
And I believe that Master Dancers should never fall (even though I don't plan to master it with my character, so it wouldn't benefit me anyway).
I hope they tweak the fall levels way down for Novice Dancer and above, and hopefully remove the falling altogether for Masters.
There's no real reason for it to be there, other than making dancers look stupid. It doesn't actually slow down the healing you do or anything. Musicians and Image Designers don't get that sort of failure.
Imagine the outcry if Master Musicians were making a plonking noise every15 minuteson their nalargons that sounded like a cat jumping on the keys, or if Master Image Designers were smearinglipstick randomly across someone's face, or giving them a random hairstyle instead of the one they wanted.
Oddly enoungh I rarely fall.. Seems to happen most though when doing poplock and since there's no animation for a poplock fall I go from the robot to a weird formal lunge fall thingy. But yeah.. i can see you falling as a novice but there is no way a master should be falling..hell I'm not a good dancer but even drunk outta my tree I never fall in RL ![]()
