This is why so many people say its hard to find a live dancer to buff them. I don't know how many master dancers i have met that do not even know what a buff is, or what a bandflourish is. They wear the master title over their head but in reality they have less practical experience than many people that are just novices.
So when you walk into a cantina and wonder why none of the masters reply when you ask for a buff, thereis a pretty good chance they do not even know what a buff is, or that they can buff.
There is so much more to it than flourish flourish flourish. You can put on a truly unique show with just a little creativity. Thats something i don't see any of the new dancers learning anymore. Stuff like synchro dancing, synchroed effects, staggered effects, synchroed holoemotes.
The people that tell you dancer is just some boring grind where you do the same old flourishes over and over are people who have never experienced 10% of what you can do as a dancer.

This is so true. I recently did some polishing of a routine that I started working on the night of Cantina Crawl XII. In my routine, I switch from one dance to another and do 2 or 3 flourishes then switch again. I had originally tried using Smokebomb to cover the switches between dances, but after some experimenting, decided that Distract 2 worked better (though Smokebomb 1 almost produced the effect that I wanted). Many new dancers don't even know that there are different versions of each special effect... or that you can change dances without stopping.

Also they updated the community standards page to remove the text saying that afk macros were not allowed. So now its just 3rd party programs. So sadly I could see them not following thru with the removing the ability

Well, the thing is if the ingame macros no longer allow unatended play, why do you need a policy against them doing so? It would be redundant.

I always end up coming to the defense of the Masters who don't know enough
... I have been a master dancer for nearly a year. I atk'd but didn't have anyone to give me any help or info (only my 2nd mmo) and wasn't familiar with the boards...
I can be kinda shy when it comes to asking for help or direction. But one day there was a happy Novice Dancer in my regular cantina and we started chatting and it turned out she was a Master Dancer on another server and she gave me so much info I thought my head would explode!! (thx Doriana)
Anyhow, my advice is to scour these boards and get as much info as you can

oh, and the AFK thing, generally frowned upon by entertainers

Sadly yes it's still ok. Reason I say sadly is because it's exactly this loophole that allows Buffbots.
Anyway enough of that subject.
Glad to hear your enjoying it. I think we can forgive you for grinding it a bit although another piece of advice is to get yourself in a group then hide in a corner when you go AFK. Shows some consideration to the live entertainers.

This redundandency typically covers loopholes in the code and allows CSRs to weild the ban-stick in case the technical countermeasure against AFKing (or whatever) is circumvented by players.
What I don't get is that the old community standards were good enough since launch and SOE just chose to not enforce them to the letter. But now, after the Devs announced the end of AFKing in multiple posts, and with a certain probability of this being implemented within the next six months, SOE changes the community standards to the new, extremely specific wording. IMHO they won't be able to do anything against players who find an in-game method allowing them to continue their AFKing.
I then tried to find a dev post regarding the new community standards policy but could not find any. So the only information to the players that there actually are new rules is this was this little link in the launchpad. Odd.
Edited because Lithium hates me.

Since the "Do Not Interact with Buff Bots" post this scenario is becoming more the norm than the exception:
When someone joins an entertainer group and then promptly goes AFK - they are removed from the group. If several go AFK, the ATK entertainers drop and regroup. This could effect how much xp you earn as the larger the group you are in and the more people who watch that group the higher the xp gain will be.

Can't, not a dancer there. But if you decide to make a cantina crawl character on bria, which you should, then i will.
Im glad to see you decided to give up the afk lifestyle. You'll be glad you did later, its something to be proud of. Oh i just thought of someone you should contact on sunrunner, Kyree. She should be able to help guide you in the world of live entertaining there. That is if she's not still marveling over llyna's pretty ithorian fashions on Bria.

Not only would it be wrong, it would be completely unnecessary. You don't need to achieve any particular skill level to participate in the Crawls. They are open to all live entertainers. At all the ones I've been to there's been a novice group doing Basic and Rhythmic. And Javier's videos can make even flourish 5 in Basic look good.

That is excellent news
One more thing, now that you've seen the light, so to speak, don't ever let anyone tell you your opinion isn't valid because you have AFK'ed in the past. As you said, you're now a true believer, and that washes away the AFK 'stain' people will try and put on you. My point being that there's a big difference between someone who AFKs, continues to AFK, defending AFKing, and someone who did AFK, but no longer AFKs, and does not defend AFKing because they know AFKing is bad.
