Although they may not read our forum posts, there is still something we can do.
We can cancel our accounts and play another game for a while.
Afterall, when you think about it, they kinda teased us with pearl loot. Made it nice then took it away.
I wonder how they would feel if they suddenly had no paycheck for a month becuase everyone got pissed off and boycotted them.
We're the ones paying their paychecks, and we are the ones getting jerked around. Doesnt make sense. They should work for us. They should be involved in the forums so that when there is a problem, they know it and could actually feel concerned about it.
SOE, we've committed to paying you for quite some time now. Sure you gave us veteran rewards, but there is nothing worse then making a change to the game such as the krayt dragon population boom and emphasizing such a change and then taking it away.
Its like a slap in the face.
If i was at work and i slapped my customer in the face, id get fired. Wake up and smell the coffee ! Leave the game alone, fix the problems that need to be fixed. Pearl drops was not a problem. Everyone benefited from it. Jedi, looters, collectors, merchants, weaponsmiths, armorsmiths, guilds, group players, solo players etc, etc. CUSTOMERS!
wait, why am i complaining. the chances of someone from SOE reading this are 1 in 4957438673 and the chances of them giving into my cries for sympathy are 1 in 3249067398763463798. sigh...........
Im with this guy why should we pay for a game that causes more frustration than joy,and anyone wanting to defend soe on this is retarded thx
*Customer arrives at the Service area of the dealership a week after buying a new car; walks over to the Service desk*
"Yeah, hi - I just bought this car yesterday...and now I can't see out of the windows. I turned on the defoggers to de-ice my windshield, and the hazing just stays - it's been like this for...going on eight hours now. I *obviously* can't drive the car like this, and I want a new windshield. Here's my warranty and receipt." *Hands disinterested clerk the paperwork*
*Clerk gives the pages a once-over before pushing them back at the customer*
"Yeah? Whaddya want ME ta do 'bout it? It's YOUR fault for using the defoggers. We're not liable if you press any of 'dem buttons in the car. We just guarantee it starts up when ya turns the key...and even then it's kinda iffy" *chuckles*
*Customer is obviously taken aback*
"What do you mean? The windows were iced over, I *had* to use the defoggers, and now I can't see out of my windows. Obviously I CAN'T DRIVE IF I CAN'T SEE OUT MY WINDSHIELD - WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, HANG MY HEAD OUT THE SIDE LIKE A DOG?!?!?"
*Service clerk adopts a mean-ass lookin' scowl*
"HEY BUDDY, I DON'T TAKE TOO MUCH LIKIN' TO YOUR ATTITUDE. WE DON'T PLAY THAT 'LOGIC' AND 'CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT' SCHLOCK HERE - YOU GET 30 MINUTES IN THE TIMEOUT ROOM FOR SHOWIN' ATTITUDE TO ME. I'M THE SUPERVISOR HERE, WHAT I SAY GOES."
*For humor's sake, the customer takes the timeout - let's he doesn't have a choice*
*Service clerk walks in; big sh*t-eating grin on his face*
"Okay, we looked over ya car while youse was in here...*shrugs* we didn't find no problem - everythin's workin' as intended. We can see out 'dat windshield just fine'n dandy - we don't know what YOUR problem is...but a majority of our guys can see out 'dat thing, so since youse in the MINORITY, that means youse wrong, and we ain't gonna take no bath replacin' glass that's perfectly 100% in our opinion, capische? But to show we's care 'bout yer business, we gave ya a full tank o' gas, license plate holder, n' an air freshener free o'charge, 'kay? That'll be 95 bucks for the labor charges - Credit, Debit, or Green?"
*Customer, pissed as all getout, resorts to EXPLOITING THE SYSTEM (HINT, HINT, DEVS) by breaking his windshield with a ballpeen hammer so his insurance is forced to cover the repairs under the vandalism clause*

Long story short:
What SOE did today will encourage more and more honest players to look for a way to exploit the system because they feel WRONGED. It'll also encourage more to quit based on the problems that MIGHT have had a rat's chance in Hell of being uncovered had 13.1 had a proper TC rollout.

Juvies and Canyons (considering they *USED* to drop premiums) were a way that normal people without super-weapons could earn pearls without having to shell out cash.
SOE's obviously incredibly frightened that easy pearl access will quicken the mass-exodus of Village grinders to go all the way rather than dabble in FS skills.
What's tragic is that it's the "finger in the dike" theory with Jedi in this game now - no matter what they do to stop it - it'll happen anyway.

But that's just the thing, those are probably next. Once all the Krayt hunters migrate to Dath to hunt Elders, they'll just nerf the drop rate on Elders, since you can only loot Premium crystals from them.
The Devs have handed the "Jedi economy" back over to looters with superweapons and Krayt conglomerate KS groups. SOS, DD.
These guys suffer from all the same weaknesses of any major corporation.
I miss the old days of running my own quake server.. Didn't have to put up with this kind of red tape. Pure gaming is not on a paid server. I've learned that from my first and last MMORPG
It's as I said before, that post from TH on the top will probably be the only time you'll ever hear a Dev comment on any thread in this branch of the forums.
I will say, though - that the "who, us?!?!" reaction to the freeze on Krayt loot REALLY pissed me off. I know when I'm getting roundhoused.

posting here just to blow off steam about this F'd up patch while I'm at work
BUT...
you know they were just laughing when the saved that line of code that took the pearls away.. when they pushed it live I'm sure they all went out for beers after work for more laugh.. They knew all the posts would fly, and everyone would freak out.

/agree I really appreciate what they are trying to do here. They are trying to keep up a good pace with fixes and publishes to the game, and make the game more fun and exciting for all. I think they are actually doing a good job with this, the TEF, and GCW stuff is excellent I think, but without taking the time to test these things propperly they are royaly screwing things up. People are most often reporting these bugs on TC when these publishes go there, and they are not fixing anything before pushing it to live. It's an ambitious pace, but what TC is for is testing, and fixing things before they hit live, and they really need to slow down and take the oportunity to fix things on TC where they should be doing it.
It's a sad state of things, when everytime a new publish goes live people have to be more concerned with finding out what is now broken rather than exploring the new improvements to the game.
