Great idea! I'd certainly support this on Eclipse and encourage those of us that remain to show up. One problem you will experience on all servers as regards turnout though is the timezone problem. Most of the entertainers I know are European, whereas there is going to be significant amount who are not

Just thought... you could extend this to perhaps have a correspondent's correspondent on each server who could filter things through to you on a regular basis so that you have the ongoing aspect.

My thoughts to deal with the timezone issues is to tentatively schedule things for Saturdays at a 1:00 pacific start time. That makes it 4:00 pm eastern, 9:00 pm GMT, and 10:00 pm GMT+1. That's usually about the best way we can balance time zones across the Western world, in my experience.
In the end though, all we can do is try. With a global audience, there will never be a perfect time for everyone. So, some may have to get up a bit early, or stay up a bit late... or in the worst case, just not be able to make it. We do the best that we can.

Update
Here are the servers and event coordinator volunteers I've noted thusfar through this thread. Please let me know if we're accurate thusfar, and in the next couple of days we'll start scheduling the first few tour dates.

I'm leaning towards starting out on either Chilastra, Tempest or Flurry, as those three servers meet all of the following as of now:
- I know the coordinator volunteers personally, which may streamline the planning process at first while we work out some unforeseen details for the first few dates, and I know that they're well connected to the entertainer communities en masse on their respective servers;
- I already have characters built on those servers, which is a plus, and;
- My existingcharacters on those servers alreadyhave some proper clothes. I am not doing this thing in desert crawlers and a flex-form shirt, thankyaverymuch!Ooh.. maybe I should've added that as a requirement for volunteering as an event coordinator... "Must beable to provide wardrobe as requested..."
If we're good to go so far, we'll start setting dates and times in the next few days. If you're listed above as a coordinator volunteer, and didn't mean to be, let me know and I'll remove you from the above list.
Thanks to all of you for the support of this idea! I hope it proves to be an opportunity for a much larger part of the Dancer community to get more involved, and be a part of the ongoing development of SWG and Dancer's roles in it!

Several years ago I worked at a bookstore which brought in Robert Anton Wilson for a lecture. All he requested was a sofa to sleep on and pizza. But then again..all he offered was a discussion on the meaning of life.

I would be excited to attend one of these on Wanderhome. But I have a musician on Chilastra I could bring by too. I can't be counted on to host anything or spread the word regularly. But I can do such whenever I am about. Wanderhome doesn't have any problems per se, other than a small population haha. Certainly not as many bots as other places.

Would you mind posting dates, times, and servers once they're decided?
I doubt you'll hit Sunrunner, since we don't seem to be a talkative bunch in these forums, but I do want to see what going on =)
Won't mind creating a character wherever, just to attend. So please do let us know.

It is stuff like this, that makes me really want cross-server chat channels... *imagines 100+ dancers "discussing" in a channel....* Okay, maybe not such a good idea, but I still want cross-server channels!
On a more relevant note, Shailas,if you need any help with hosting on Bria aside from me emailing folks, drop a line.

Certainly and as an easily accesable venue and one which has been used before by the starsider live entertainer community I volunteer to host using my Guild hall - the CAKE Guild hall on Tattoine. I also have contacts in the 3 of the major entertainer guilds on Starsider.

As for Kauri server - I got to meet Deila at a roundhouse such as she is proposing that was hosted by Goldy & Fainora. This is a great idea dancers, and I hope each server will support it. Unfortunately the meeting on Kauri didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, but I can honestly say that I felt like Deila listened to our concerns and took things back with her to tell the Devs. I hope each of you will take the opportunity to host one of these meetings on your server. And, Deila, I hope you don't mind if I come to the meeting on Tarquinas even though that isn't the server I'm a dancer on.

Nope... home-server membership cards will not be checked at the door. Come one, come all... if you're a dancer somewhere with ideas for the profession, I want to meet you.
