Thread: Player-run Cantinas
My experiences with player-run cantinas have been less than stellar. It seems on Chilastra they're either strip/cyber joints or have no traffic at all.
The main problem, as I see it, is building clientele. Until it is easy to get to a private cantina and fun enough to remember -- as well as having other things to offer -- most players aren't going to bother.
So a few of the things that will turn the tide on the current doldrums of private cantinas:
* Player Cities, including shops, medical centers, mission terminals and shuttle ports right next to the cantina.
* Additional content by SOE that draws players into the story arc. As some of these plot events form patterns for the conflict, enterprising cantina owners will follow.
* When the cybering players get bored with typing /moan
A group of us run one on Tarq server, just outside coronet!
It goes pretty good, it seems slow sometimes - but on Friday nights the place is jumping....seeing as it's fairly new, we have a lot to work with! Our board is constantly coming up with new ideas to bring in more people - I myself do a ton of advertising.
It's extremely fulfilling and fun -- I love when I travel to other planets and mention it, then Friday I see some of my friends from Naboo, or Tatooine =)
You can definatly ban unruley customers...sadly we've had to kick a couple...but we are always willing for second chances --
So check us out sometime! On the Tarq server -- just ask someone if they know where After Hours is =)

and remember, best time to show is Friday night 9pm eastern --this Friday we're hosting a fashion show, fishing contests, duels, and of course, as always I night of fireworks!
Just contact me for details on how to get there! *hugs*
